I have listened to this song many times, and this is one of the nicest renditions I have ever heard. I feel you have really captured the essence of the song and I hope you continue to sing and play music for many years to come; as you are a naturally gifted and endearing young man. Keep her lit ☺
Howdy Eddie Kane. This is Gabriel in Montana and I want you to know that this is my favorite version of this song despite myself. I keep coming back to this one. Thank you for this. Hope you are very well indeed
Gaeb Nnyl no seriously, are you from Montana? If so, how did you hear about this song? it’s just that it’s a very local song, and although brilliant in my opinion, it’s not very mainstream, and not well known even in Ireland. I know Montana because a lot of Irish immigrated to Butte, to work the coal mines.
Well done with the censorship. :Let's not forget the missing lines: And when the hills were bleeding and the rifles were aflame To the rebel homes of Kerry the Saxon stranger came But the men who dared the Auxies and who beat the Black-and-Tans Were the boys of Barr na Sraide who hunted for the wren
The censorship is out of control these days! Nobody can handle the truth of history so they bury it and stick thier heads in their ass instead. Not Eddie's fault, someone must have forced him to leave the lines out. Now that he is with the Young Wolfe Tones he has done the full version of the song perfectly and most certainly the best version on all of youtube.
@@mickd6969 Thanks Mick. The Auxilliaries and Black and Tans deserve a mention right? See.....old Kerry farmers only get to be commemorated in old countryman songs like this. Meanwhile The Fine Gael Government of Ireland, representing the Irish people and Irish state, are ready, willing and able to commemorate the Auxies and Black and Tans. What a country. What a people. Craven as the most miserably craven little f'kers in the western world :).
The same happens with "The Fields of Athenry"...check out some of the artists.. draw your own conclusions. Either Eddie was told to leave out that verse ..but he also messed up in another verse..
@@garyodriscoll7988 Last summer The FG government prepared commemoration events for the RIC in venues such as City Hall, Dublin. They had to back down due to the obvious public (and a few FG members') distaste. Varadkar declared his "disappointment" at the cancellation. It was all quite unbelievable really. Google it and see for yourself, I'm not making it up.
He is now playing with the Young Wolfe Tones. I was fortunate enought to see them live in Maryland. Great group of people. Best night I have had in a long time.
and when the hills were bleeding and the rifles were aflame to the rebel home of kerry the saxon strangers came............................ the main part of the song was totally ignored
Maybe he forgot it, but managed to get through the pressure of the performance and not (blow up).. Panic...!! "let there be no panic" I'm sure ya will find a version that has all the words in it, but ya won't be happy with the Key 🗝
Anyone who sings this old one song , truly feels it ,,Ware Ure life began) ,,,that's fernny Powers 🍀,, speak against a yoke lad singing ,,,,,,lets just say his Heather won't be blooming,,,
Nice singer but left out a very important verse...The song is incomplete..Also messed up the lyrics on another verse..Just goes to prove nobody listens to the lyrics of songs anymore. This is a beautiful ballad and should be sung in full.
A grand young fella and a grand song but shame he was forced to leave out the most poignant verse of the lot. Usual revisionist shite. Let's pretend we've no history in case the english/planters/FG are offended.
one of the nicest versions I've heard well done Eddie hope I keep seeing you on hear

Very very good. Could you do a full version of the song please?
Hi Lixna
I'll ask Eddie about that. This is my own channel 🙂

Lixna when did Fine Gael commemorate the Black and Tans? (I immigrated to USA 8 years ago, don’t keep my ear to the ground as closely as I should)

Fabulous
Yes. I am in Missoula Montana. About an hour and a half from butte. I’m also an Irish American in montana. There’s loads of us.
Are you really in Sligo?
And now, they’re burning down my favorite buildings in butte, MT. Savages after insurance money no doubt. th-cam.com/video/Xh3P3pbfzuI/w-d-xo.html
My heart is breaking watching it burn
Is Eddie still around? He sounds fantastic and he’s the spitting image of my cousin.
He surely is!

The Saxon stranger came.
Very noticeable ok. Terrible omission.
There is a new version of him singing every verse. With the Young Wolfe Tones.
