Although Mike Joy has been with FOX since the 2001 Winston Cup season, I enjoyed watching him more when he covered races in the 1990's for CBS and TNN.
The fakefans are the problem. Some people said they have looked back at old race broadcasts. And not much difference in amount of commercials. Stop whining and be glad it is still even on TV to watch.
Exactly. These critics act as if he's in charge of how many commercials are aired when that's just not the case and they're not giving him the benefit of the doubt. 😑
@@leoygeal2249 If they don’t have the commercials, there would be no televised NASCAR races. There also isn’t much more of them than there was 20 years ago, people just didn’t have social media to whine about them.

I agree that FOX’s coverage has been lackluster, but it’s not Mike’s fault. It’s the producers that are following a script and the commercial schedule rather than covering the race first and foremost. Thank you Clint for looking out for us viewers this weekend. There should only be commercials during cautions. If F1 can go commercial free so can NASCAR. Are the cars not rolling commercials themselves?
Example: Maybe if FOX showed the m&ms car more rather than cutting to commercial for 26% of the race, KB would still have a sponsorship at Joe Gibbs racing… we are not keyboard warriors, we are consumers… and we don’t like what FOX is selling…
"There should only be commercials during cautions." And that's in no small part why we have stage cautions - the TV partners wanted two extra cautions to show commercials.
What idiots. Fake fans crying about commercials Better access to racing and actually being their. And everyone cries because they have side by side commercials. Complaining about how boring the racing is then complain about how they can't watch the boring race because of commercials. Turn on radio PRN radio. And watch at same time then go outside and enjoy the day.
I agree in principle, but FOX and NBC paid over 8 BILLION dollars for the rights to broadcast NASCAR races over the past 10 year contract. They don't charge for the broadcasts, at least not directly, so they gotta make that money up somehow. I didn't even know F1 was on ESPN, not that I'm anything special, but I have to figure their profit margin for broadcasts is significantly lower.
F1 has always been commercial free and there is almost always a team or one of the conglomerates that own the series in serious financial trouble. They somehow sell huge TV broadcast contracts with no apparent way for the broadcasters to make any money because of no commercials. The venues pay F1 for the right to hold a race but F1 apparently sells all the track advertising, so the venue apparently has to make do with ticket sales and other monies paid to attend or while at the event. But no doubt, the city or locale hosting a race is shelling a huge chunk of money to get the series to show up. Which is likely why F1 has never made it big here. I lived in Phoenix years ago when F1 came to town. It was all you heard about or saw on media of any kind. Politicians and big shots of all kinds were laughing it up and backslapping each other as fame, glory, and dollar signs filled their dreams. There air was filled with excitement. Then F1 showed up, had their little race, and left. And the bills came in, but the dollars didn't. Phoenix didn't become a glamorous, enchanting city to visit. It had made a huge investment in a race that drew insanely huge crowds in Europe, that didn't materialize in the desert. I was there. I didn't see or hear it. I knew nobody that attended. The USA is not Europe. We are different. Unlike here, they don't tip food workers, they get paid a liveable wage for doing a difficult job. I quit F1 years ago when they became more electronic/technological slotcars than anything resembling something I could drive; the reason we all watch racing anyway, to imagine ourselves behind the wheel? F1 has TEN teams of two drivers each. Can't really get much wheel to wheel racing that way; and if you do parts break and fly off the "cars" faster than a 2 year old can destroy grandpa's spectacles. Mike Joy didn't insult me, he made statements to try to explain, soften the blow, of what was coming, and has been coming, every race day, from every broadcaster, since NASCAR first appeared on TV. I watched that race, and all the rest. It was "fan"tastic. If anything NASCAR has become far too civilized, too homogenized, too politically correct for its own good. Now we're getting all these pimply faced adolescent drivers that apparently haven't achieved puberty yet. Give me back Ryan Newman, Rusty Wallace, Darrell Waltrip, Smoke, even Danica has more balls than many of today's drivers. Ross Chastain, can't wait til someone tries to get up in his face, hopefully Hamlin will try. Be happy you've got races to watch on TV. Many of us went a long, long time with only the Indy 500.
Mike Joy can say what he wants but i stopped watching racing years ago because of the commercials and started doing better things with my life. I just catch the highlights.

I agree completely. To anyone who would rather count stats than watch the race, feel free to continue wasting your time. Any channel that my family watches has many commercials that are delivered in about 5- minute segments. My best suggestion is to utilize that commercial time to brush your teeth, get a beer, get a snack, cuddle with your spouse, etc.
But mike needs to give actual facts… Larson winning in 2001? No, that didn’t happen. Mike is a good commentator. But when it comes to stating facts- not so good- Example? Saying Larson won a race at phoenix in 2001 Another example? Saying Jeff Gordon won the 1990 cup series championship- he didn’t..
Personally, through the last few years, I have been frustrated with the broadcasting of the races. Interested, Mike Joy was the announcer who kept me listening. For me, Mike is not the issue. And I have enjoyed the nascar drivers who are involved, they know what they are talking about. My issue is with a newer broadcaster who seems to step in after Gorden is finished. His high voice that gets squeaky when excited does not help. Yet the real problem is his incistance in tell us what the drivers are thinking and what the drivers are going to do, when the drivers on the track are obviously not. It is hard to not listen to inaccurate announcing and enjoy watching. No announcer is perfect, but I appreciate Mike. Hope he sticks around.
I think this is a "nothing" story. It's one thing if he was doing this all the time but he just mentioned it at the end before the overtime finish. People have to take a step back and look at this from Mike Joy's point of view that he has no control over the commercials. These critics act as if he's the one making these decisions when he is just the broadcaster. I can't stand the amount of commercials just like the next person but I also look at the fact that Mike Joy has nothing to do with them at all. 😑
@@bassrob88 It was on my feed, thought it was funny that he's up in arms over a sly comment. Not like I follow him, but hey.. good try, I appreciate the commitment.
Personally, Mike is Mike. He hasn’t changed at all. The “keyboard warriors,” are what changed. And that’s awesome!!! And Mike’s slight backhand to them (because HE has a mic and a platform) was funny and petty and I love it! Remember Alan Iverson’s “we talkin’ ‘bout practice?” Here we are talkin ‘bout a dust up in the booth with tons of fans engaged on the keyboards. This is great, and what seem like questionable calls like 1. Fuel only on the 24, he was asking bc he was maybe following two other drivers closely. No error there. And statisticians and booth assistants are handling the talent information and stats. Maybe he misread it. No harm no foul. Let’s hang Mike from the cross until he admits every mistake on a 5+ hour broadcast. To me this is the director and the talent are not working well together. Everyone needs to be on their game. Something is missing and fans, like me, want it fixed. Don’t just keep putting out a shcitty product. You have to be moving towards a solution or it will still be a problem. If they don’t know how to do it, they should pay someone a good chunk of change to do so.
OK I just put this video out on Twitter with my thoughts. I don’t think Mike joy is a problem. I have watched him for decades, but I do think the commercials are a problem and they need to do permanent side-by-side never cut to a full commercial. That way we won’t be missing anything. Also, they need to stop rerunning interest in certain drivers pick a driver pick a week don’t consistently talk about one driver
Another issue we noticed in the last few races... side by side coverage, accident, still side by side coverage with the commercials still in control. By the time they return to full screen coverage, the accident is all over with and we have to hear about it on replays. At one time, they used to cut the commercial coverage and get back to the race when accidents happened. Not anymore.
I'm glad to see someone mention the NASCAR work-product. The TV booth offers someone who never won a race and a guy that destroyed Michael Waltrips race team by spinning his car on purpose to bring out the caution flag. This Phoenix race had a questionable yellow flag at the end that screwed Harvick. If you go back and listen to Clint, he talks about spinning to bring out the caution. Patrick offers little to no analysis. She tried to explain "Rhythm" and explained everything but. Bowyer constantly has to correct her. You can see their saving lots of money in the booth.
Yes that is all true and fox is crappy on nascar. patrick is as pathetic as an analyst as she was as a driver, maybe worse. And I don't know why mikey is allowed to be involved in nascar at all including being on tv. He never admitted or apologized for their cheating. Same with clint. It is disgusting having to hear and see him.
I agree. I also don't like the permanent block of top 20 drivers on the screen. I think the scroll across the top of the screen is way better. The booth lineup I would use is Adam Alexander, Larry Mac, and Jamie McMurray.
Funny, most people like the block on the side better. You can instantly see where the top places are, in near real time, without having to wait for 40 names to scroll across the screen. Fox still shows the other 20 places often enough to keep up. If you really want live timing for all 40 cars, fire up the NASCAR app while you watch TV!
I am pretty sure Mike is just as frustrated as the fans. He has ZERO to do with the cameras angles, coverage, ad placements, or even when they take a commercial break. He is doing his job, and that is keeping the fans informed as to what is happening and what is coming up.
Also, I think Mike Joy giving crap to the keyboard warriors is funny. Even if they are right, it's funny to give them crap. Plus, I like how he's giving us a heads up on if it's the last caution.
Yes the commercials suck, but I really appreciated Mike letting us know when they were coming. As for his minor blunders, he's human. He's only one small part of this crazy FOX machine. Clint did a good job as well as Danica.
i can totally overlook someone saying 2001 instead of 2021 in the moment, but commercials.... well. commercials got out of hand 20 years ago plus, which is why I just stopped watching tv period. in 1994 the avg 1 hour show would be about 50min of show by 2000 it had dropped down to 37mins of show and has only gotten worse. And they wonder why people stop watching, I am so anti ad, I run ublock origin in the browser and pihole on the network level. and if i want to watch a show ill sail the high seas around a certain bay and watch commercial free. (not much made in the last decade that is really worth a damn to watch anyway) I even refuse to get fuel at the gas stations that insist on that horrid gas pump video ad crap, I don't care if the station has it a dollar less then anyone else.
Yeah I actually appreciated that too. I'm one of those types that just basically cannot be overwhelmed with information, just lay it on me the more the better. I like to know what's going on. There's nothing more frustraiting to me that people trying to hide innocuous things for seemingly no reason. Transparency is the best, it's what has given people like Cleetus McFarland here on TH-cam so much success, he openly discusses the broad strokes on finances on his channel, which helps people understand why decisions get made and then it also helps people come to terms with it MUCH faster.
I’m wondering if Mike was being fed that info either by some sort of teleprompter that he reads or through an ear piece and they’re the ones that made the mistake and Mike just read/repeated it

the 2001 comment was obviously a misspeak. It happens all the time to commentators from short tracks all the way up to Cup. it’s impossible to be 100% dead on all the time after narrating for hours on end, sometimes your mind drifts for a split second and thats all it takes. Not at all a reflection of his quality as a commentator

Fox has twice as many comercials as NBC. NBC shows the cars doing the choose cone, times the pit stops, has way better cameras. How many bumper cam views do we need to see?
The commercials would not be an issue if the Fox production was better and we got to see more of the race action. The production has been bad but the last few years were terrible. For example Last year Clash qualifying coverage: Kurt Busch out first, brand new car, brand new team. Did we see the car? No. We stayed on the front bumper camera the entire time. This years Clash: the booth talking about battles happening or incidents on the track only for the camera's to stick on a single file car not involved in the conversation. These frustrations on the production side are amplifying other things like the commercials that might be tolerated more if the race productions was good.
I watch a lot of old races on youtube, the raw sat feed, there was a lot of prep that occurred during commercials that they can't do now like they used to due to the constant coverage. Even with all the commercials there's not much down time to plan things out and I expect the network has lost a lot of experienced production personnel while expanding their duties by dozens of factors.
Got no issues with him voicing frustrations personally. Keyboard warriors got that rep or a reason. I loved the whole I'm going to use little words you can understand mindset, though I wonder if Mike said it off the cuff or whether Fox told him to say that
In the past decade I have become a casual NASCAR fan and do not currently pay enough attention to ANY NASCAR broadcast to notice the blunders. In the late '90s and the 2000's I would watch the race with the sound down and the MRN radio broadcast playing. I believe the issue has become the way NASCAR has legislated and designed the current cars and racing. Good racing doesn't need "stages" and "playoffs"
I don't see any problem with a lil heads up but I have noticed a lot more commercials. We definitely need to cut back on commercials and stick to the racing.
Late 80s / early 90s ESPN team did so much more with so much less available to them. Once broadcasting started getting into all the gimmicks it just went flat.
Thanks for that time breakdown, very enlightening. 25%, sheesh! These days, I only watch racing in tape-delay (PVR). I make it a game to figure out when to start watching a race as it is still being recorded, so that I can catch up to real time close to when the checker is waved. Up here in Canada, even our F1 coverage has commercials. In some ways that is worse than Fox or NBC, because the SkySports commentators don't know that some markets have been away in a commercial break, so they don't recap if something interesting happened.
I do the same thing, I start watching the race 1/2 hour after green flag and blow through the commercials. Add in a couple of fresh beer breaks and I'm at live tv with 5 to go!
After going to the races for years and putting up with the hot sun, $6 beers, overpriced food, drunk fans, long walks to the track and restrooms along with the skyrocketing cost of camping spaces and tickets I have decided that the best seat in the house is in my house. I guess I'll just have to put up with commercials because, face it, NASCAR is all about marketing, theirs and the sponsors, besides numerous views of the track that you would never get while in the grandstands and being able to pause the race for a bathroom/beer run makes staying at home worth it. So give me my cheap beer, close bathroom, hot snacks and comfortable recliner any day/any race.
I don't think commercials would be such a big deal if FOX wasn't trying to promote FOX's Saturday night lineup, the basketball game tomorrow, the NFL game next week, the "Fair & Balanced" FOX News team, and all the none racing BS they push onto the viewer. The person in the "control truck" that decides what camera is shown on the television broadcast is in her second year. That's what we're seeing on FOX right now...imo
I like Mike but there needs to be a change!! Fox has 3 major problems: too many commercials, goofballs in the booth & the director who can’t keep up with what’s going on - on the track. Number 4 could be why the hell are they using Danica!?!? 40+ year NASCAR fan
NASCAR fans just have a problem with sports channels in general, don’t they? First it was NBC. Then it was ESPN. Now it’s FOX. Can someone explain the big problems with each please? Cuz that’s all I’ve heard about NASCAR coverage
I'm grateful to have NASCAR on a major network. Yeah, there are a lot of commercials during FOX's coverage. But it's better than trying to stream a race, or to have coverage on some low-end network that not everyone has access to. As for Mike Joy's mistakes... the broadcasters don't hold all these stats in their heads. They're handed stats to be read on air by others on the production staff. Chances are someone else made the mistake (probably just a typo) about Larson's stage win in 2001 and just put it in front of Joy to read.
NASCAR coverage has gone severely down hill on all race broadcasts! I have given up U.S. race coverage to watch F1 and FiaWec. Remember four or five years ago with all the rain delays made broadcasts run long? NBC would switch broadcast to one of their other channels like CNBC or NBC Sports (or similar)? I hung in there waiting for racing and I was rewarded by missing the end of five or six races because my network only carried the NBC option! Today it is like no one has a clue on what they are doing in what shot to broadcast. The frequently go to the in car camera, the smallest view of the race, when they go side by side. When there is a yellow flag, they now show only the top ten in the race of pit road! My driver came into pits in 6th and he is not listed in top 10 so I have NO idea where he is or what happened. It is obvious that telecasts have switched from showing the best view of the race to attempting to attract VIRTUAL race or video game viewers. What good is a sixty second view of the driver who rarely moves as he drives around an oval?! The Imsa broadcasts are getting worse too. 24 Hours of Daytona was a nightmare. 5 classes of cars and showing only top 10 drivers (almost all GTP) and the classes are color coded! We know what class we want to watch but the standings on the left restrict info unless you follow a top 10 race class and driver. Scroll the whole race standings and occasionally display order within single class to allow viewers to follow more than top 5! If you have special segments prepared, show them during the long yellows as track is cleared and not during live racing. During cation flags the order list displays the manufacturer of each car instead of time between drivers. As soon as track goes green, when we know all the cars or bunched up, they immediately put time between drivers back up. They are all bunched up from the restart! There are negligee time gaps! Leave the manufacturers on for the first lap or two until time gaps have some meaning!! Getting a larger screen TV screen is matched by increasing commercialized screens instead of view of racing. I totally agree that there appears to be little to now rhyme or reason between what is on the screen and what is being discussed. Sportscasters begin to talk about a driver but you can’t even find out how he is doing in the race because he isn’t listed on the driver placements always focused on top ten drivers. It seems both networks are switching pictures just to demonstrate their new technology. New tech is meaningless f it doesn’t give a clearer view of what is happening in the race. Even saw dead air on 24 Hours of Daytona when the camera cuts to a driver sitting with sportscasters but no sound and no one aware they are on camera. As much as the points are made about Fox, I believe they compete with NBC to see who is less familiar with broadcasting racing. I have given up on NASCAR broadcasts. Imsa is not far behind. Hello Indy NXT, F1 and WEC!
The camera work completely sucks. They are more worried about having tight shots on the track so you can't see how empty the stands are instead of zooming out a little more so you can see more of the track.
Thank you Mike Joy, I appreciate everything you do pal you let me know when the commercials are coming so I can get up and take a piss and not miss anything besides the stupid ass commercials
If they just made all the commercials ''side by side'' they would have fewer people leaving the TV to do something else and have fewer fast forwards with DVR's. As for Joy's mistakes, he's human it happens moving on. As for the ''Keyboard warriors'' remark, I think it was mostly the higher ups, but again whatever part was on Joy... Again he's human frustration is also part of being human. Joy has done more good then bad so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
I have been watching NASCAR since 1958 and I am sick of the poor broadcasting, and ho-hum announcing. Get FOX out of there and give it to another Network who cares what is going on I am tired of watching the Daytona 250 with all its commercials. It seems we only see half of the race as it is. When a commercial is playing and no race is sharing the screen, something usually happens like a wreck, but does the Network cut to the accident.......NOT on your life. Someone could be dead before they cut back to the race/wreck. I usually record the race and watch the last 10 minutes to see the results, and if they look interesting I may go back and watch the whole race while zipping out the commercials. My time is valuable and I cannot be bothered sitting thru repeatedly mindless commercials. This is probably my last year of watching this tripe. I cannot stand the whole presentation anymore. NASCAR used to be good but not any more!!
"Oh wow! A 3 wide pass for the lead here at Martinsville!" *points camera at a train. No surprise the commercials are so bad, almost the entire car is a sponsor now.
I actually loved his comment. NASCAR fans are some of the whiniest people on the planet. Most of them are never satisfied with anything the sport does, so kudos to Mr Joy. Also are you freaking serious giving him a hard time by mistaking the year. Good lord you pick odd things to whine about.
I would be happy to pay a yearly price to watch the races with no commercials. I only have TV for the races, I'm not gaining anything from the current model
Mike Joy knows more about cars and racing then anyone complaining. He is a treasure compared to most of the other broadcasters. I will guarantee he cares more about the quality of the broadcast than all of us.
I just start to record it and begin watching about an hour into the race. I get to skip commercials (except side by side) and catch up by the end of the race.
Although I hate the commercials, I like the warning...and I really appreciate the side-by-side....wish they would do that through the entire race. I think the coverage of this race was particularly poor, I hate the crank it up The coverage from Fox has never been all that great, but NBC has issues as well. I like Mike Joy and think he is doing his best to make improvements. Perhaps they need someone in the director's booth who actually knows something about racing.
Because NO ONE WATCHED that crap. They make up for it by playing commercials during events that people actually care about. (I have a feeling you already know that)
If it's remembered, we ALL pay for TV, and the main reason was to get rid of commercials . Now we pay and get even more commercials . Hey, marketing folks !!! If we want it ,we will go get it !!! We don't need your commercials . Paid TV should be commercial free !!!
I'm glad to put up with a few human errors and watch it ota and not behind a paywall like espn with their people making errors as well. Give us old guys a break we have been through the fire more than you know.
The problem with the nascar broadcasting is more than just the network coverage and ad breaks, I personally prefer NBC over fox but that is due to that fact that I don't like the gimmicks. The racing has gone away from "stock" car racing, the faces are too long with little excitement, the announcers are fishing for storylines, the drivers are cookie cutter salesman, and the cars are kit cars where everything is equal. This is f1 without the team engineering and longer races. If your going to keep with a 400-500mile race then the excitement factor, passing, position battles, bumping and yes crashing, needs to increase.
The teams are getting sensitive about what everyone (including the fans) can see. NASCAR originally had the digital dash so fans can see certain things but now the teams are getting butt hurt about it.
I watch the race... I see most things, however M J. Has helped and I believe, will help keep things in prospective. With the help of the drivers and crew crew chiefs that help him along.
It is not JUST the commercial breaks, it is all the time they put up a graphic nobody cares about and you can see the race, the times then spend in car with someone that is not battling an important spot, etc.... etc... etc....
Yeah I get more annoyed that the people running the show have absolutely no idea what to do other than just watch the leaders. There is a ton of racing elsewhere. Or they will zoom in so close to a car that you see nothing else. People complain about the package from phoenix, but I think it would have looked better (the sliding, looseness, etc) if the cameras actually picked it up. I go to Darlington most years and in person there is so much more that I see than when I see it on the tv. Last year when Larson was marching to the front, he had a few puffs of smoke that could be seen before it was announced his engine was done. One time I was sitting next to strangers and I was talking to the girl next to me. I was pointing out things that were going on well before they happened (some of you watch enough racing and can tell when something is going on or when someone is way loose). Then a wreck would happen, we would see it well before most people. The camera work just sucks so damn bad. Wasn't there a race last year where JR or Clint were talking about a great battle. They were all exciting and we couldn't see anything.
Thought it was funny as hell when Joy said that. But, I agree that Fox’s coverage has consistently been lackluster. It almost feels like they don’t care enough to make fixes and improvements in their coverage.

Mike joy's voice is a staple of modern nascar at this point, i dont care what he does wrong, he's the voice of nascar.
No
Damn sure is 👊🏻
My favorites were Mike Joy and Allen Bestwick.

Personally, Mike is Mike. He hasn’t changed at all. The “keyboard warriors,” are what changed. And that’s awesome!!! And Mike’s slight backhand to them (because HE has a mic and a platform) was funny and petty and I love it! Remember Alan Iverson’s “we talkin’ ‘bout practice?”
Here we are talkin ‘bout a dust up in the booth with tons of fans engaged on the keyboards.
I like how you ignored Joy saying Larson won in 2001….

Fellow men of culture. I woke up at 2:30 last Sunday.

And they’re just plain boring🤣
His a company kiss ass
The people who got offended by his comments crack me up!
Yeah it was funny

@andystewart1580 MRN has PLENTY of commercials. And unlike TV, which can do "side-by-side" so you can still watch the race, when there's a commercial on MRN, you don't have the slightest clue what's going on.

Jim Ross: "Call what's on the television, not what you see; call what the audience is seeing."
the 2001 comment was obviously a misspeak. It happens all the time to commentators from short tracks all the way up to Cup. it’s impossible to be 100% dead on all the time after narrating for hours on end, sometimes your mind drifts for a split second and thats all it takes. Not at all a reflection of his quality as a commentator
Any chance of bringing back Ken Squire, immediately?
Mike Joy is not the problem!! Come on man!!! He calls it like he sees it, he has always been an asset to watching the races!!!
As to commercial time..
Pennzoil 400( Las Vegas) Green to checkered 171 minutes. Commercial time 46 min 25 Sec....27.14%
Pala Casino 400 (Auto Club) G to C....188 mins. Commercial time 44:30....23.66%
United Rentals Work 500 (Phoenix )...G to C 180 mins....Commercial time 47:30..26.57%
People who are upset with this really need to deal with their personal issues they have.
Fox has twice as many comercials as NBC. NBC shows the cars doing the choose cone, times the pit stops, has way better cameras. How many bumper cam views do we need to see?
wasn't insulting at all - it's pretty helpful him letting us know about the commercials - nothing wrong with what he said he's a good broadcaster
You think mike is bad try danica. What makes nascar think we have to see every second of every pit stop.
I loved the whole I'm going to use little words you can understand mindset, though I wonder if Mike said it off the cuff or whether Fox told him to say that
So the sport with advertising on the cars, the walls, the uniforms, the name of the race and the name of the track needs even more commercials
Commercials are out of control ..but whats worse the director who controls the cameras ..absolutely terrible has been for years
Mike Joy is the best thing about Nascar being on Fox.
Remember that nascar is putting on a show not a race
Absolutely, working for what nascar wants. And neither of those things should be happening
I don't see any problem with a lil heads up but I have noticed a lot more commercials. We definitely need to cut back on commercials and stick to the racing.
That one reason why I dvr so I can skip the commercials and Danikas commentary
I do the same thing. What commercials? Lol 😂
Me too!
Yeah because no other network ON EARTH promotes the other shows and events on it's networks, while covering another! It's absolutely never happens.
I thought it was hilarious when he said that. I also appreciated knowing what to expect. He’s definitely not the issue.
I like Mike but there needs to be a change!! Fox has 3 major problems: too many commercials, goofballs in the booth & the director who can’t keep up with what’s going on - on the track. Number 4 could be why the hell are they using Danica!?!? 40+ year NASCAR fan
I think Mike Joy and Clint Bowyer do a great job. The producer or director is another story.
Clint can be informative, entertaining and annoying all at once sometimes; and who really thinks that is really "Win Clint's Money!" That is pure b.s.
Or a network u have too pay for every race
I'd pay for a commercial free stream. Don't see why a free broadcast and a paid stream can't both exist.
I agree with Mike i loved when he took that shot at the Keyboard Warriors
The camera work completely sucks. They are more worried about having tight shots on the track so you can't see how empty the stands are instead of zooming out a little more so you can see more of the track.
Thank you Mike Joy,
I appreciate everything you do pal you let me know when the commercials are coming so I can get up and take a piss and not miss anything besides the stupid ass commercials

I want Ward Burton in the booth at some point.
He's busy voicing Boomhour in the remake of King Of The Hill.
Mike is past his prime. DW and Ken Squier did the same, late in their broadcast careers, made lots of blunders...
Get FOX out of there and
give it to another Network who cares what is going on I am tired of watching the Daytona 250 with all its commercials. It seems we only
see half of the race as it is. When a commercial is playing and no race is sharing the screen, something usually happens like a wreck, but
does the Network cut to the accident.......NOT on your life. Someone could be dead before they cut back to the race/wreck. I usually
record the race and watch the last 10 minutes to see the results, and if they look interesting I may go back and watch the whole race
while zipping out the commercials. My time is valuable and I cannot be bothered sitting thru repeatedly mindless commercials. This is
probably my last year of watching this tripe. I cannot stand the whole presentation anymore. NASCAR used to be good but not any more!!
"Oh wow! A 3 wide pass for the lead here at Martinsville!" *points camera at a train. No surprise the commercials are so bad, almost the entire car is a sponsor now.
Mike Joy is the voice of nascar, I will definitely miss that voice when he is gone
Their pre and post race show they have in the studio is bad too. The camera doesn't stop moving as they are talking . It's distracting and weird.

Mike Joy needed to go about 8 yrs ago
I just start to record it and begin watching about an hour into the race. I get to skip commercials (except side by side) and catch up by the end of the race.
Thats how I watch it
Fast forward thru the commercials.

This fan wasn’t frustrated at all
Any explanation why FOX is blurring the in car views of the digital dash? But not on any seemingly consistent basis.
The teams are getting sensitive about what everyone (including the fans) can see. NASCAR originally had the digital dash so fans can see certain things but now the teams are getting butt hurt about it.
The problem is the guest announcers, Danica is the worst. Bring Kurt in permanently
Probably just time for Mike to take the checkered flag 🏁...and if he has room in his golf cart...Danica could use a ride
Time to clear out the whole FOX booth especially Danica Patrick.
Agree, too DAMN MANY commercials
“Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech.”

I said the same thing about all the comercials, I was starting to think I was watching NBC. Nothing But Commercials. NBC is even worse.
I watch the race... I see most things, however M J. Has helped and I believe, will help keep things in prospective. With the help of the drivers and crew crew chiefs that help him along.
It is not JUST the commercial breaks, it is all the time they put up a graphic nobody cares about and you can see the race, the times then spend in car with someone that is not battling an important spot, etc.... etc... etc....
I love Mike Joy and the fact he’s doing this is awesome! Keep up the awesome Joy! You tell them!
People these days will complain about anything 😂😂
Mike's job is very simple, it goes back to the carnival barkers to say "You just witnessed the greatest race in the history of auto racing and Next week's race on FOX is going to be even better" I thought he was overstating the obvious, not especially insulting.
“😢 oh no Mike joy insulted me wah goo goo gah gah..”
