@@sauce1232 Not really a NASCAR thing but a Racing thing in general (Personally I'm not into NASCAR at all), you need to slow down in a corner, the key being how to take it as fast as possible. Everyone slows down to take the apex without hitting the wall (which may cause a huge accident). What Chastain did was, essentially, "If I don't care about hitting the wall, I may go as fast as I can!", so he hit the wall on purpose, allowing him to take the corner at MUCH higher speed since, well, he didn't had to worry about either hitting the wall nor understering .

Not gonna lie. I set some track records doing this in Gran Turismo but I always assumed real life physics just wouldn't let you, especially around a turn that long, like the friction would be too high. Guess this shows the power of a nascar engine. Unbelievable move to see IRL.

How many drivers did he put at risk then?
Also, how many races did Earnhardt win by bumping and wrecking other drivers? Honestly I think Earnhardt was one of the best drivers in NASCAR but lets not pretend that he wasn't just as aggressive as other drivers are. The difference is how he handled himself and his personality. People liked him.

The underrated part is I feel like Ross just put a small fear factor in Chase, and Denny from this move. Chase's on board was a shocked slient Chase and a like a slow confused chase's pit crew chief speaking, and Denny's post race was like a confusion shock expression too, a confused state most of the times means a fear is introduced. Both are probably thinking, like damn, this guy might freaking kill me to win a race. This takes "Florida man" to a whole new level !!!! Feel the heat boys !!!!
