Sir, yesterday I read an opinion piece in Dawn where the author claimed that the announcement of CPEC phase 2 is not a reality. Neither any official statement has been issued by Chinese authorities nor any think tank. The actual aim of the Prime Minister's visit to China is to seek the rescheduling of debts that are near maturity. The reason behind this rescheduling is the insistence of the IMF that Pakistan must not utilize the latest bailout for debt servicing, particularly in terms of repayment to China.
