- It's finally finished!! It took me about a month to complete this, and I had a ton of fun making it! This is only my second animatic (the first one is private because it's... really bad) but I kind of want to make more of these in the future. I've had an idea for a This is Home animatic for Finn (the guy in the video) since last year and never really got around to it, but as soon as I heard Home the idea suddenly got so much better and I knew I had to do it.
So this animatic is based off one of the characters from a webcomic I'm writing (The Summers Spent) named Finn Korhonen. As a super quick summary, in a hospital in his town has ghosts in it for spoilers reasons. He's seen these ghosts before, only for a split second before they go away, and he reeeally wants to figure out what they are and where they came from. His mom, who he was really close with (they both really loved sunsets and that's why they show up in the video so often), dies at that hospital and (unbeknownst to him) is turned into a ghost as well and her death basically sends him into a depression. Later on in the story, he discovers the ghosts along with Reese (the girl in the previous speedpaint!) and reunites with his ghost mom, which gives him a bit of closure and sets him on the path for getting better and coming to terms with the past!
Also, I kind of want to do a video showing how I made this animatic if anyone's interested? Tell me if you guys would be interested in that and I'll make it :D

we definitely want to see the video of how you made this....it's so beautiful, the imagery and the story work really well with the song. I'd have cried but there were two other people in the room...! we projected this up very large and it looked fantastic...the parts where the figure appears with the white eyes are incredible!!!

This is so well made and pretty. Wish it had more views then the other pmvs of this song, you're is so much better. The ending is what really got me, the coloring is so professional and beautiful. The best part is that it actually told a story unlike a lot of other self indulgence artworks on TH-cam. Great work!!!!! Your cereal pmv was also super cool too but this was is a classic.

I actually Cried :') it touched me so deeply🖤💔.
The way the girl fades out at the end really says a lot to me, like all this time Finn was worried about losing her, and eventually his worst nightmare ends up happening and he does lose her. And it's eating away at him, all the black shadowy figures throughout the video seem like representations of her passing, and he's terrified of that. The hug at the end to me said that he finally realized that his friend would want him to be happy and not spend his life miserable because of her.
That's my take on it anyway~

this is honestly so beautiful- the art, the music, the story... i can really relate to it. sometimes, the world seems like it’s being haunted by ghosts too. i was honestly practically brought to tears. I can easily tell all the effort you put into this, and it really pays off.

At the end of everything Hold on to anything It's still being written! Last year I finished the first draft of the script and spent half of this year trying to make the story better. Now I just have to write the second draft but I'm kind of nervous I'll mess it up :'D I plan on working on it today!!
