This was actually a close fight and it was not even trash talk. It was the standard: "I will win and he will lose" kind of comment they are supposed to say before a fight.
I miss when fighters could wear whatever they wanted in the octagon. The different style and colors in their gear and their choice of ads kinda gave them a bit of a visual personality.
I was just thinking the same thing as I watched this clip. I liked the indivualized look of each fighter's trunks. It looks so much better than the bland "uniforms" of today's UFC (regardless of what the UFC executives tell us).

These two always did and still do speak highly of each other. I think Mike learned a lot from Chael and how to really play-up the media and call your shots even when you maybe don't deserve a shot due to rank. They're like the UK & USA version of the same person.
That interview is why i dont feel like this belongs in a Trash Talk gone Wrong. Because that fight could have gone either way and Michael Clearly gave as Good as he Got. Love the content but i just dont feel this is right.
The mutual respect between these two is real. They were two of the first to truly realize the importance of promoting a fight. The clip at 1:19 says it all. Both dehydrated as shit after their weight cut and both doing their best to bring more eyeballs to the fight.

Chael Sonnen's Dirty Boxing was great but whenever he tried anything else like *cough cough* spinning backfists he looked sloppy and stupid. His low fight IQ cost him winnable fights and he didn't have the knockout power to compensate for it like Rumble or Ngannou.

I remember this fight like it was yesterday! A day or so after this fight, Chael did an interview, talking about how every punch Michael threw was painful and touched on the fact that "If Michael knew how hurt I was, he would step in and do something about it right now and end this fight"... as a former Amateur Boxer, I had the privilege of being trained by a former World Champion. I know a Great Boxer, Michael is one of them The Count is like Fred Astair, every move is beautifully choreographed, he pivots perfectly, great lateral movement, can slip in and out of the pocket quite flawlessly The Count could not stop most of Chael's takedown's, then came Chael's ground and pound! Well done guy's, ya both gave 100%.

What has always amazed me about Chael, and other UFC fighters of his caliber in grappling, is just how quick he can apply vast amounts of strength and perfectly timed leverage in such awkward positions. Look at how he pushes down Bisping INSTANTLY at the start of the match around 2:50 mark. I love this guy! As far as I am concerned, he IS undefeated and undisputed in my book!

Can I just say how much I love these guys!? Both know exactly what selling a fight means and what trash talking is meant to do. These two could go at it for days, and at the end, both know it's just business. Fun to watch, and it's nice to see a pair of fighters who know it's not (truly) personal. I also have to say I love Chael. Yeah, he talks a lot of %^&*, but he always moved forward in a fight and was always ready to bring it. He was a high pressure fighter, and that's not easy. His worst losses were usually do to him slipping up and making a mistake; I actually thought for a while he might be throwing fights for money on side bets or something, but the truth is he's just that guy who misses the brass ring at the last second. Hell of a fighter, though!

Can I just say how much I love these guys!? Both know exactly what selling a fight means and what trash talking is meant to do. These two could go at it for days, and at the end, both know it's just business. Fun to watch, and it's nice to see a pair of fighters who know it's not (truly) personal. I also have to say I love Chael. Yeah, he talks a lot of %^&*, but he always moved forward in a fight and was always ready to bring it. He was a high pressure fighter, and that's not easy. His worst losses were usually do to him slipping up and making a mistake; I actually thought for a while he might be throwing fights for money on side bets or something, but the truth is he's just that guy who misses the brass ring at the last second. Hell of a fighter, though!
