      @@dannjp75 , yeah, probably “resisted” would be more accurate than “kicked out”. Kudos to the Seigneur for not selling (although I’m not really sure he could have-doesn’t the island belong to the Crown?).

    This is a cultural shocking for me, I am Austrian, speak german, recenently learned english and now trying my best to understand a bit francais while reading english subtitles. Francais is such a fine language, i wish i'd ever get a chance to learn it, i wish...

    It sounds like the Barclay Brothers were kids playing King of the Castle. I'd hear the occasional bit about them on the news and wonder if they were for real.

      @@davidwilson657 you don’t own the property there it’s a long term lease of a hundred years or something. The crown owns the land. And houses are like hens teeth. Savills estate agents may help you 👍🇬🇬

      @@stuartdelamare4072 Thank you Stuart there is one of interest on there which has only 15 years lease ,I have a call tomorrow with my first question will be what the projected value of the lease to renew .This property is with Sark estate agency .

      @@davidwilson657sorry I have no idea but be prepared to to give a week or so of your time throughout the year to clear the roads and do the bins as everyone has to chip in to run the island but the tax benefits🤯 and natural beauty more than make up for it. 👍🇬🇬

    Now you've done it! Someone in our beloved government will see this and before you know it a few thousand 'refugees' will be heading for Sark!

      What a good idea! They shouldn't be coming across the channel, anyway! They're NOT refugees, just men coming to Britain to take advantage of our soft immigration laws! If they are true refugees they should claim asylum in the first country that they land in! 🙄😖🇬🇧

    Sark is not “the only feudal state in Europe”. Any state that still has a monarchy of any sort is feudal.

      Modern monarchies don't have something like nobles, knights, and peasants. Also, there was a feudal republic called Novgorod Republic in medieval Russia.

      Which parts of Ireland have you been to I wonder. It has broadband almost everywhere including the really remote places like mine and you get Wi-Fi in buses. That's something countries like Germany are lacking till today. And don't forget that Ireland accepted gay rights earlier than other European countries too. Soooo: You are wrong 😁
