Wonderful video as always - thanks Chris! Bowes looks like a lovely little village! That old ruined castle was great. So was the lovely old church and churchyard!
Excellent stuff. In the Mid to late '90s we would grace the "Unicorn" for a warm meal. We were working on Bowes Moor. Eventually I got my son in for work experience. Often he would stay over and can relate to many of the reports. As a Witty aside- i remember when Tony, the Landlord was opening up the fire place in the small dining room. When an American guest asked what he was doing he politely explained, He then pointed to shelf where, he informed her, he found the very FAX machine that Charles Dickens had used to send drafts of Nicholas Nickleby to his publisher!!!! She immediately called her Husband " to come look".
don't laugh but i was told by one ghost hunting for money group that the pub was haunted by Dickens himself...i couldn't resist " the Dickens it is " ahhh the dickensian fax machine, an important piece of journalistic history there...should be in the same museum as Shakespeare's fountain pen 8)
That's one heck of a haunted pub! Brilliant thanks Chris 👍

Sounds like my kind of pub. A lot of spiritual characters still hanging about. Thanks for sharing, Chris.
only problem is...too far off the beaten track and needs transport to get there,,, i'm actually not one for investigating pubs - keep warm up there
