Actually, gaming isn't the only thing a PC is good for. PC is great for entertainment and graphic design, video/audio productions too. I'd say it's even better than a Mac if you take the desktop route since you're free to upgrade to the bleeding edge hardware which Macs lag behind or you can upgrade little by little in accordance to your budget instead of buying a whole new computer everytime. Also PC is cheaper option making video/audio production and graphic designing more affordable and flexable. PC has tons more advantage especially in today's age.

"Creatives" gravitated towards it because they could jump right in and start editing. Whereas on PC, you had to know which software to buy/install and you had to be a nerd or enthusiast to know which setting to tweak and know they're buried to get the most out of the PC. Mac was more of an all-inclusive (in its own way EX-clusive) out-of-the-box experience.
These commercials were always so charming, well directed and well acted. Whether you use a Windows PC or a Mac (or if you're like me, both) there was no denying that this campaign was one of the best of all time.
It was a great campaign, but many years later, nothing has changed. Windows still has the huge market share worldwide. Windows is still used by US gov't, US military, and the largest corporations.

Years ago, Mac could run Windows software perfectly using Boot Camp. Millions of Mac owners loved that. Today, Apple SIlicon does not run Windows software properly. On the desktop, Linux is even less popular than Mac.

The Vista security commercial at 10:38 was brilliant timing when it came out and funny as hell. The excessive security authorization prompts were not an exaggeration.
Look at all of these mac fanboys lol, on windows you just have click yes and it does the thing you want. On MacOS you have to go to settings, find wherever they hid the security page in Ventura, click allow, scan your fingerprint and write an essay about how you want to open the program, okay I made up the last one, but you get the point. My PC is a dual-partition Windows and Ubuntu. Since I adore the Linux mascot as well as Diddy Kong, I call it my Rareware-Linux PC. Funny enough, these ads came out in the Golden Age of Internet with a HUGE fanbase of Tux as well as the Dark Age of Microsoft, not just Vista, but of Microsoft's Rare as well.
... and you're going to love the way they completely pass silent over the thousands of things in wich windows completely destroys every Mac single handedly, including games and entertainment. It's just funny to see how much misleading these ads are. (p.s. I'm not a windows user)
They mostly focused on the software side of things. Nothing about how Macs are more powerful or upgradeable. Because they knew that was a losing battle
Mac is more like a luxury accessory than a similarly priced device, to me at least. They have very refined and sleek designs but they're so locked down it's crazy to me. I used to run a hackintosh (Snow Leopard) and just didn't get the appeal after using it for about a year. I'm fine with 11 and Debian (MX Linux atm) dual boot. I know my friend loves Apple because it "just works" but the moment there's a problem he's out buku bucks to fix it, literally no troubleshooting skills or how a computer works. But I digress... These commercials bring back some fond memories of building PCs in the past and overclocking them stable by 1GHz+ on air! Now AMD rules the CPU market by far (soon to be consumer GPU market depending on 5xxx and 8xxx launch) and Intel makes pretty good GPUs while their CPUs literally burn themselves alive! How times change, not necessarily for the better looking at generational leaps compared to ten years ago though.
The way I’ve always seen it is that these ads are super entertaining and after seeing the end of the one Apple event where are the PC guy returns, I figured it would’ve been nice to bring these ads back. And personally I think of it this way, each computer platform has their advantages and disadvantages. You can say the same for Linux as well. I’ve been a PC user for many years. I still use those today although I’m a primarily a Macintosh user. But I like to use all three platforms considering that they all have their own unique way of doing things.
One of the reason the ads is so good for me is because it's just basically a friendly conversation here. It's short, actually funny, and creative. It's not "haha you suck!" ads that people try to do now.

Mann! I am a PC user but I love this ads! They are classics! For the people fighting over whether Mac or PC is better, just stop. A PC is the more convenient computer for me and a Mac may be the better computer for you. Everyone has different tastes. Just get over it.
I was a Mac zealot in the ‘90s but I learned a grudging respect for PCs when I worked a series of jobs where that’s all they had. They really are quite capable machines, and Microsoft has a tougher job in some ways than Apple does, having to create software that runs on a vastly greater variety of hardware configurations. Apple on the other hand does have a deep sense of design and taste that truly sets it apart among corporations. I prefer Macs and use them at home but to each their own, live and let live I say. You’ll be happier. And these are damn funny commercials. John Hodgman and Justin Long -- what a great pair.
Mac isn't needlessly being a dick for dicks sake, instead actually attempts to be friendly to PC. Jim was a dick to Dwight for the sake of being a dick(Though it'd be difficult not to be a dick to someone like Dwight of course). Pc definitly gives Dwight vibes.
Except mac can game... It can run Minecraft, CS:GO, GTA V, Tf2, Terraria, Rocket League, Stardew Valley, League of Legends, and alot more. All at good FPS. You can also install bootcamp and double boot windows onto a mac so all the games are available and run even smoother. Oh wait, you can't do that on a PC? Sorry.
sleepydash actually, when you game through boot camp, your games never run like they would on a pure Windows machine, boot camp is like an emulator with Windows running over Mac OS. And actually you can get a PC and install Mac OS and Windows with a dual boot system if you really like the Mac OS that much. But for the best gaming experience, windows is the way to go because it the games will run like they're supposed to on the operating system they were designed for, rather than being emulated. Also Mac's were never really meant for gaming, they're actually designed like a workstation with multi thread performance for multitasking and CPU intensive tasks such as video editing. For the price of a Mac, you could build a gaming PC with 5 times the graphics performance in videogames.
***** Mac isn't even designed for videogames in the first place tbh. They are designed for office and business use, maybe even educational. Considering they put Xeon processors in their most expensive computers, they are either workstations or business computers depending on the purpose.
Mac have slower hardware but better optimization on mac gta 5 launch on low-medium settings with 30-49 fps an mac overpriced shit (sorry for my bad english because im from russia)
4:09 there is no excuse for Apple to have removed the magsafe power port from the new Macbooks. It's a great feature and here they show they know it. There's enough room for the port so bring it back Apple.

Besides MagSafe having returned on the new MacBook Pros, there are some third-party magnetic USB-C charging connectors that work like MagSafe, plugging into one of the Thunderbolt/USB-C ports on the 2016-2020 MacBook Pros and 2018-present MacBook Airs. I got one for when using my M1 MacBook Air on the go, and it does the trick nicely (though I tend to find myself plugging said magnetic connector into my Falwedi USB-C hub if I need to use any USB-A devices or read an SD card or output to HDMI).

I love how none of these adverts point out the amount of software that doesn't work on a mac, and the fact you are stuck with a single piece of hardware until a new mac comes out because most hardware doesn't work with mac. PCs are just more upgradable and better all around.

2006 I was a Mac hater - then got a used Mac mini from friend & never looked back. I don’t regret my time with PC, it paved my career in technology learning to tear them apart, building them, and software.
They tried these ads here in the UK with two well known comedians and it totally failed. We sided with the loveable, nerdy loser PC and hated the smug Mac. They pulled the ads after a week or two.
Came here from an article saying They failed in the states too for the same reasons. Mac comes off as a bit of a dickhead and people thought the ad was mean spirited

Say what you want about the computers, but this ad campaign is smart, witty, and very successful. Love how Justin Long plays the straight man and the PC guy is absolutely hilarious.
You can use everything in the same way. It’s just two different ways of doing the same thing. And ironically, the PC guy is more likeable than the Mac guy. And you can do more things on a PC than on a Mac.
PC guys makes mistakes, so more human and relatable. mac guy is always perfect, so gets on nerves. PC guy is the ultimate underdog, you want to cheer for him.

All I hear from these people are parodies from Apple commercials which they tend to lose these arguments almost every time. People buy Apple products because they make the user feel cool, they make the user feel popular. They give the user a feeling of importance, status, and prestige. Its basic advertising people, those things I just said tap into human nature- in other words everyone wants a feeling of importance and that is something that Apple products provide that PC's don't. the stuff you guys are saying for reasons why PC's are better is shit that literally nobody cares about. The way I’ve always seen it is that these ads are super entertaining and after seeing the end of the one Apple event where are the PC guy returns, I figured it would’ve been nice to bring these ads back. And personally I think of it this way, each computer platform has their advantages and disadvantages. You can say the same for Linux as well. I’ve been a PC user for many years. I still use those today although I’m a primarily a Macintosh user. But I like to use all three platforms considering that they all have their own unique way of doing things.
One of the reason the ads is so good for me is because it's just basically a friendly conversation here. It's short, actually funny, and creative. It's not "haha you suck!" ads that people try to do now.
Exactly, the actual pitch is, “If PC feels the need to compensate, maybe he’s not the best choice.”

I was a Mac zealot in the ‘90s but I learned a grudging respect for PCs when I worked a series of jobs where that’s all they had. They really are quite capable machines, and Microsoft has a tougher job in some ways than Apple does, having to create software that runs on a vastly greater variety of hardware configurations. Apple on the other hand does have a deep sense of design and taste that truly sets it apart among corporations. I prefer Macs and use them at home but to each their own, live and let live I say. You’ll be happier. And these are damn funny commercials. John Hodgman and Justin Long -- what a great pair.

Except mac can game... It can run Minecraft, CS:GO, GTA V, Tf2, Terraria, Rocket League, Stardew Valley, League of Legends, and alot more. All at good FPS. You can also install bootcamp and double boot windows onto a mac so all the games are available and run even smoother. Oh wait, you can't do that on a PC? Sorry.
sleepydash actually, when you game through boot camp, your games never run like they would on a pure Windows machine, boot camp is like an emulator with Windows running over Mac OS. And actually you can get a PC and install Mac OS and Windows with a dual boot system if you really like the Mac OS that much. But for the best gaming experience, windows is the way to go because it the games will run like they're supposed to on the operating system they were designed for, rather than being emulated. Also Mac's were never really meant for gaming, they're actually designed like a workstation with multi thread performance for multitasking and CPU intensive tasks such as video editing. For the price of a Mac, you could build a gaming PC with 5 times the graphics performance in videogames.
***** Mac isn't even designed for videogames in the first place tbh. They are designed for office and business use, maybe even educational. Considering they put Xeon processors in their most expensive computers, they are either workstations or business computers depending on the purpose.

Besides MagSafe having returned on the new MacBook Pros, there are some third-party magnetic USB-C charging connectors that work like MagSafe, plugging into one of the Thunderbolt/USB-C ports on the 2016-2020 MacBook Pros and 2018-present MacBook Airs. I got one for when using my M1 MacBook Air on the go, and it does the trick nicely (though I tend to find myself plugging said magnetic connector into my Falwedi USB-C hub if I need to use any USB-A devices or read an SD card or output to HDMI).
That's why I still rock my awesome MacBook Pro 2015 specced out: I will have it till it's dead - that's, 9 years now still going strong

I love how none of these adverts point out the amount of software that doesn't work on a mac, and the fact you are stuck with a single piece of hardware until a new mac comes out because most hardware doesn't work with mac. PCs are just more upgradable and better all around.

PC gaming was extremely niche especially compared to the console industry. Not particularly worth mentioning since it adds another layer that most people wouldn’t get or care about.

2006 I was a Mac hater - then got a used Mac mini from friend & never looked back. I don’t regret my time with PC, it paved my career in technology learning to tear them apart, building them, and software.
They tried these ads here in the UK with two well known comedians and it totally failed. We sided with the loveable, nerdy loser PC and hated the smug Mac.
They pulled the ads after a week or two.
Came here from an article saying They failed in the states too for the same reasons. Mac comes off as a bit of a dickhead and people thought the ad was mean spirited

Say what you want about the computers, but this ad campaign is smart, witty, and very successful. Love how Justin Long plays the straight man and the PC guy is absolutely hilarious.

All I hear from these people are parodies from Apple commercials which they tend to lose these arguments almost every time. Of course some of these PC guys over-exaggerate a bit but no Mac users ever catch them because they have too little knowledge of computers to pick it up. Funny to read though.

People buy Apple products because they make the user feel cool, they make the user feel popular. They give the user a feeling of importance, status, and prestige. Its basic advertising people, those things I just said tap into human nature- in other words everyone wants a feeling of importance and that is something that Apple products provide that PC's don't. the stuff you guys are saying for reasons why PC's are better is shit that literally nobody cares about. They care about their feeling of importance and they will pick that feeling of importance, status, and prestige over a "better" computer any day. Its human nature and basic advertising and branding. I live in a community of diehard mac supporters because I'm right next to Apple Campus and didn't get influenced. My school only allows us to use their macs during schooltime, yet I didn't get influenced. I am young and even many adults here support macs, yet I didn't get influenced.
