I have to say, he is doing the best advertising possible. Within 2 minutes of bad play, he had me buying the game...

SuperWolfkin I’ve bought slay the spire, ultimate chicken horse, fallout and more just from watching nl. Making the watcher think “goddammit, I can do better than him” is his greatest ability
@@MaximilianWWW only two things I want from a video on video gaming a) I'd like to keep my ear drums please, no shouting at me like I'm a 3year old with the attention span of a 1 year old (I love Stumpt for instance but they have... 25% of this problem) and b) not experts, watching people speed run the game in 12 minutes or less is cool but it doesn't help me decide how much fun I will have with it. I like to see people mess up and fail and then get past it.

this has to be the worst minesweeper gameplay i have ever seen
NL was a lot better with chat's help on stream, and picked up a bunch of tech. I do kind of hope that it comes back so that we can see him improve, but puzzle games don't tend to be his thing.
Since I watched the stream he did of this the other day (guess he recorded this video before that), I was going to say "no way in hell that's true," but no, this is very much even worse. He might understand the most basic concepts of the game, but he does not know how to play minesweeper.
Edit: Oh god, I only commented when he finished the tutorial, it actually gets even worse.

Yea....well I recall fondly as a child telling my parents that Minesweeper was not a game, just an annoying grid of stupid numbers, and Bill Gates could eat shit if he couldn't even put a basic version of pong in windows to go with solitaire. I hated that game and deleted it off every computer in my middle school with the backing of the administration who also wanted me to get rid of Paint because kids would draw penises and boobs all the time.

somewhat tangentially though, this preeeety much encompasses why I like watching NL. He doesn't mind portraying himself with a comedic level of hubris at the slightest success, knowing he's going to screw up at some point. It's a weird sort of audacious humility, and it makes the videos funny as hell. Never change Egg.
I absolutely love that he said he might be the greatest mind of minesweeper and proceeded to be extremely bad at it.
Our egg loves to say things like this all the time. He is hilarious.

Me every time NL tries a neat looking game... it's so infuriating - the first plays of him in slay the spire literally forced me to buy the game because i couldn't wrap my head around his misplays.
I think his gameplay sold me on it harder than anything else
As a potential buyer, does it auto open by dual mouse clicks if the number is satisfied already?
Why would you ever buy this game if you like minesweeper? It never gets harder than the original minesweeper, so the items you get are glorified resin.

But also it'd be nice to go back and to a bit more on some of the gems you find, I for one would love seeing more of nova drift.
Honestly pretty much all of the "NL tries" have been winners IMO, there's just too many great games for him to make a series for everything.
But personally I prefer the longer form series so I agree I'd like to see him pick a good one and stick with it for a while.
its great, i hope he expands on some of them too, but im glad he has been trying so many good games and that steam fixed their discovery system

I could happily watch a series of Northernlion confidently clicking where there "has to not be a monster" over and over. It's total slapstick comedy.
How is the average watch time of his videos only 15 minutes? I listen to this man talk at least 2 hours a day, usually much more. I don’t even watch anymore, I just put my phone in my pocket and listen.

As someone who dedicated more hours to minesweeper than work in highschool I think this is a must for me. Especcially after watching egg man fail at it hard

Holy cow, this is a fantastic game! Watching this video I immediately bought it. It get incredibly hard, but the casual mode at least removes situations where you have to guess, so good logic is enough.
Also, you can left-click and right-click on the numbers. If a number has a flags, left-click open all other cell. If all free cells are opens, right-click puts flag on all the other cells. This speeds the game up considerably.
a tip for the world's blindest egg. If you left click on a cell that already has all its surrounding monsters flagged, it will automatically solve all surrounding cells. So if you see a 1 already touching a flagged cell click on the on again to make things easier for yourself.
Also please stream this, we need the ego boost.

wolfspam ye the occasional guess has always been my least favorite part of minesweeper although I suppose it's offset by the hp mechanics

This game looks awesome! The only problem I’ve had with minesweeper is having to guess sometimes and this game absolutely solves that issue by giving you items and extra lives. Such a cool idea!
Possibly the best ad for this game, watching NL play badly compels me to buy so hard.
