I want you to do a review on this one Tablo 4th Gen 2-Tuner OTA DVR + TV Antenna | Watch & record live broadcast TV & free streaming channels | Whole-Home DVR with Wi-Fi | No subscriptions | 35-Mile Indoor TV Antenna Included | 2023 model
I have had the Luxtronic antenna for over a year. It is attatched the back of my tv in my bedroom. I have been pleased with it performance as I get about 73 channels using it.
I used this antenna works well for outdoor usages. I am able to get all the major channels. This works well outside not inside. I purchased this antenna to watch TV outside. I highly recommend this antenna for outdoor usages as well as with a RV or a trucker, which my brother used while he is on the road.
Exactly. On my portable TV that the antenna came with, you need to go into the settings and turn on the 12v antenna power in order to receive just about anything, only the 1 analog station in my area could get a half decent picture with it turned off. And to no surprise, the thing broke last year so thank god it came with an adaptor to make it hook up to F type coax cables.
I have this on 2 of my TV's, one of those I have 2 with a splitter on it as it's in the middle of the house. These work better than any of the other antennas I've had plus they stay out of sight real easy.
Those of us who are apartment dwellers anticipate these indoor antenna reviews-currently using an old RCA rabbit ear loop antenna (with a distribution amp for my room and the HD Homerun). Am about 10 to 12 miles from towers and it works pretty well but always interested in better equipment.
i’m excited to see your indoor antenna test series, to see if any of these coming up might work at our place. This one I don’t think would because we once had a flat antenna I had gotten from Amazon and it didn’t do very well. So I would expect about the same with this one. Just for your information, I just found out thatATSC3.0 just launched here in the greater Flint Michigan area with all five major network stations that was supposed to be carrying that and the old standard as of today. I do plan at some point to get a tuner to see how well our sky blue eight bay outdoor antenna works with it because we actually have that unit pointed towards Detroit, so we would actually I think be able to receive the Flint and Detroit new TV standard. Thought you may want to pass it on to other viewers living in our neck of the woods. Great video and excellent information as usual.
I bought that antenna ages ago for the "hurricane tv" that we run on the generator after storms. It gets only two channels consistently but we do get the channel we watch for news. I'll be interested to see how your other indoor antennas perform.
I’m looking forward to this series. It’s good to get people started, that’s how I got my start. And they a great for people needing fewer mini boxes in their house, now that cable companies have found the way to prevent theft and charge you more money in the process.
I’ve used this, works very well, not expensive either. I’ve used it as an outdoor antenna, and stuck the magnet part of the base to the indoor metal part of the window frame. Did a fine job both ways. More of an outdoor antenna but still good indoors propped in the window cill.
Thanks for the info, I have this on for my emergency tv all 12v. It works well indoors but never thought of out. For a little thing it pulls in 60 70 % of channels I did modify it and got more.
Hello there Tyler, I'm from the Philippines about this Magnetic Indoor Antenna, it is also use as an Outdoor Antenna for both DTV and digital boxes. just put it on the roof (be sure it was made of steel because of the antenna has a magnetic base) and it works not just getting a better signal also adding more digital channels since transmitting towers of most broadcast networks including GMA, TV5, GTV and A2Z are located either Quezon City in Metro Manila or Antipolo in Rizal. this was based on my experience since I bought a digital box in 2018. note: Television Broadcast in the Philippines is currently using ISDB-T (Intergrated Services Digital Broadcasting - Terrestrial) which is now use in Japan and Latin American countries including Brazil
I bought an Antop based on a review here, made sure to get one with the VHF elements. Works pretty good, but could use a better one, as some channels lose signals at different times of the night/day.
"A few feet can..." shoot i had a situation where the difference between picture and no picture was .1 inches. Granted the signal margin was calculated at -3dB. I seriously had my compass out trying to plot out the exact angle needed so the reflectors were orthongangol to the broadcast tower. That was a tough signal to get, but so glad I spent the time to get it. Turned out to be a reliable signal since I had an antenna dedicated to that one signal. I had anther general antenna for all the other UHF signals with tuned filters to avoid the two antennas from producing wave forms that would cancel each other out. I then had a VHF hi antenna and a VHF lo antenna for FM signals. The FM antenna had an anti FM trap filter, theres a real term for it just cant remember at the moment, so it wouldn't create harmonics over the other 3 antennas. So yes I had 3 pre-amplifiers for a 4 antenna setup with a powered distribution splitter. Just so I could have something to watch from time to time in college.
You need some ducktape too. A bow-tie made out of foil held down to a sheet of cardboard works quite well. It even gets VHF-High if you make it about 20 inches wide.
@@kensmith5694 Thanks! I just cut some foil and wrapped it around the antenna. That was long ago. Your idea might work better than my parents’ rotating junk one.
@@sethbessinger2025 BTW: A thrift store painting in a frame works nicely to hide the antenna. You can run a white COAX down from the middle of the bottom to wire to the TV.
It resembles the one included with my RCA portable TV/DVD-Player... and the only way that got a decent amount of channels while attached to a metal light fixture [hanging from the ceiling], while seated in a funeral parlor in Winfield, IL.
I know I brought this up before, but I moved to a new house, and tried the NASCAR issue with FOX25 (Boston), where I believe they are dropping the signal on big events to try and get people to pay for TV, you know those transmission fees, right? Comes to find out IT'S REPEATABLE HERE TOO! On any other day, FOX 25 comes in at about 77%, yet NASCAR Sunday, mid 30s, and dropping out to unwatchable status. While the performance here is better, it still proves they are messing with the signal. Two different locations, same BS. No coincidence here.
The signal strength indicator on most TV's and tuners doesn't really show the power of the signal. It shows the inverse of how hard the correction circuit is working. It's more likely that Sunday is a popular day for your neighbors to be home, operating interference-creating gadgets.

Tyler, have you tried the FLATenna+ from Channel Master? If you haven't reviewed that one I would like to see you review it. I know your opinion on flat antennas (and I share the same opinion). But Channel Master is a good brand, maybe it's better? "The FLATenna is already regarded as one of the best performing indoor TV antennas on the market. The FLATenna+ will increase signal strength providing increased channel reception and reducing issues with channels having poor signal quality. The included amplifier (MicroAmp) has been fine-tuned for optimal performance when used with the FLATenna." Copied and pasted directly from their website. Let me know what you think. It claims a 50 mile range.
I'd recommend getting one that is telescopic with a swivel. Gives you a better chance of getting VHF stations, and you can angle it to improve reception.
You forgot to mention that this antenna has a built-in amp that connects to the TV (or an external smartphone or tablet) power adapter via USB. Or perhaps you got the model that doesn't have the built-in amp. I do and it only receives one of my local channels from 24 miles from my location on VHF 9 virtual 12.

I have a Fowod version of this antenna outside on my Directv satellite dish. It is split to 2 TVs. I am also using an amp from an RCA indoor antenna and get 38 station and all but 8 are if'y. I would recommend with an amp.
The closest broadcast stations are about 75-85 miles from my house. And I have aluminum siding on my house. Any suggestions on what I could try? Haven't had cable in about 15 years and don't want it...or satellite!
Great Channel, I picked up the same antenna that has a usb plug for 25dbi boost, my plan was to plug it into an RF modulator to send out a signal to some vintage TV’s…. I can’t get a signal out of this antenna. Are there limitations on this antenna if you want to send out a signal?

I got this antenna a year ago, I live in apartment building and it very difficult to get vhf channels like CW or ABC. I had it by the window on top of my AC locked in with magnet base. I could get 54 channels and sometimes in a good clear day, I could get ABC.
Tyler, for your recommended signal meter box, any idea why the Amazon listing says “This item cannot be shipped to your selected delivery location. Please choose a different delivery location.”? I tried a number of zip codes in the Chicago area and it comes up with the same message.
I bought this antenna today on a whim for 9.99 at a department store in Maine. I just wanted to see if it was good or not. this was like dropping acid . BRAIN OVERLOAD
Will the older antennas still work or not, because the old indoor antenna used to work well for me?! With the new ones, I have hardly had any success with the indoor antennas; this was not the case with the older antenna that I had. So, will the old school antennas work or not? I thought I might go looking for one of those if they still worked...
@@AntennaMan Thank you so very much. I did watch that video just now and I understand. I used to have an RCA indoor plug-in antenna that had a big closed-in, circular dish in the middle and long rabbit ears to it. It could pick up channels 2, 4, 9, 11, and 27 in our tree infested-50-80 miles-from-any-stations area! I hope that I can find one or one similar, because it was the best antenna that I've or my family has ever owned besides the outdoor antennas...
One of my neighbors bought one of these and it faired very poorly considering we are 10 miles from the towers for DC stations. Her interest in an antenna coincided with an Antop sale so she bought one of their models despite the dipoles being larger than those on a 2Max.
I have found that rabbit ears is the best signal search website antenna web sucks no way around it they are out dated and only shows TV stations that would be in the good range on the rabbit ears
Rabbitears.info is definitely the most accurate. Antennaweb.org tends to underestimate over the air signal coverage - sometimes listing no channels available at a location when there are.
Got 1, but with 5v booster on it, I Put mine on a 10' pole, get it as high as possible, I live in a tramper van, different locations, return tv every location, yttrium works
Nope - that video is no longer accurate and will be deleted soon. The way to find out the best antennas is to go through my videos or sign up for an antenna recommendation on my website.
I saw a neat video about using an inexpensive software defined radio stick to show tv signal strengths. Wonder if that might be a useful addition to your antenna reviews.
I'm not trying to be humorous or sarcastic here, but how does the Luxtronic antenna's performance compare with using a paperclip inserted into the RF input?
It's funny you ask - my next video will be about a paperclip antenna. I think the Luxtronic would work a bit better since it's a tiny bit larger and can be moved around unlike a paperclip.
It depends on the frequencies in the area. You can find a list of recommended indoor antennas below: www.amazon.com/shop/antennaman?listId=2LH365VAPDKLC
@@larry45044 Don't get the one "people use and like the most." Get one that's appropriate for your area in terms of VHF capability and gain if signals are weak. One of the first three antennas on the list should be good.
I considered sending you image of this model a couple of years back -- I elected not to, because I didn't want you to go buy one. If you feel like experimenting, try moving it sideways. The results may improve slightly, having to do with polarization.
I use a similar antenna like this. I'm so close to the broadcast towers that it manages to get the major channels in pretty okay. I will say the coaxal cable freaking sucks XD
I obviously live in a hole worse than He11. We have tried dozens of antennas and can't seem to get one single consistent channel. I sometimes want to take these antennas and burn them with a torch. 😁😁
I now offer antenna recommendations for a small fee at the link below. One from me can prevent you from spending hundreds of dollars and time wasted on setting up the wrong antenna for your area. antennamanpa.com/antenna-recommendations.html
Reminds me of another picture he had with a vintage rabbit ears antenna he got from the dollar store. Sadly, he deleted the video due to low views. That rabbit ears antenna is the same one that’s on the TV in the background.
Some of the antennas you present like the one you have there are so ridiculous that I would be really curious to know how it would measure with a network analyzer. Then you would be able to see exactly what the designer may have be thinking or is it just total BS. Do you have a nanoVNA or other piece of test equipment that you could use to show the viewers what is really going on with each antenna? Maybe it would be worth stepping up your game instead of just reporting the empirical results. Might also be possible to determine lobe shape and approx. gain for the somewhat directional antennas. Anyway, with the tiny little stub antenna you have there, I wonder if any impedance matching at all would have been done.
My father purchased one. He lives about 60 miles from the broadcast tower. But he also lives on top of a mountain. Dish and CBS was having problems. All he wanted was CBS. Nothing with this antenna.
Seem's there was no mention of Polarity, concerning this magnetic mount which appears to be, " Vertical " , opposite of the Polarity transmitted by Television stations ! Hint for those that use old fashioned, " Rabbit Ear " antenna's : The length of the telescoping pieces are critical to the wavelength, ( Frequency/Channel ), being received ! Remember the Higher the frequency of interest, the shorter the antenna length ! Likely more critical in areas on the fringe, as opposed to homes saturated by strong signal's, due to proximity ! Many thing's come into play trying to receive these channels. Even signal's that may be reflected off building's, Water Tower's, etc. ! Experimentation is the rule here, more than not, especially using indoor antennas ! Don't be afraid to move the antenna around, even setting on the floor, sometime's will bring signal's that aren't seen with an antenna setting higher ! So many things can add or subtract to your success ! Weather, Propagation characteristics etc. ! All that can be studied on various internet site's, for those a little more Nerdy ! Hope this helped someone ! 👍😉
I picked up one similar today called wonder wand by Acellories for $4.99 lol at Ocean State Job Lot a discount store. For the price and to use it in my garage or while camping will be fine but again it's not as good as some flat antenna's I have peace
I mean it looks like a ~1/4 wavelength vertically polarized monopole. If it has a ground plane, it is too small. tv is usually horizontally polarized besides. 50 miles?!? I cant even...
They might’ve had a strong signal. A paperclip with a few inches of aluminum foil on it (now 1-2 inches wide, and 3-4 inches long in total) will work better. The more more foil, the better.

(Tyler WARNED YOU ALSO !)
I have a Fowod version of this antenna outside on my Directv satellite dish. It is split to 2 TVs. I am also using an amp from an RCA indoor antenna and get 38 station and all but 8 are if'y. I would recommend with an amp.
did you try this antenna with a ground plane? put it on a cookie sheet and retest
Forget the little antennas I wanna know what the best UHF antenna would be on an outside roof mount tripod is bigger better
Check out my outdoor antenna reviews to find the best UHF antenna
It's probably intended for mounting on the roof of a car or SUV, thus the mag base.
We need internet with apps , for my smart Tv. Can you help?
The closest broadcast stations are about 75-85 miles from my house. And I have aluminum siding on my house. Any suggestions on what I could try? Haven't had cable in about 15 years and don't want it...or satellite!
Great Channel, I picked up the same antenna that has a usb plug for 25dbi boost, my plan was to plug it into an RF modulator to send out a signal to some vintage TV’s…. I can’t get a signal out of this antenna. Are there limitations on this antenna if you want to send out a signal?
Mr Antenna man... What indoor antenna would you buy?
You can find a list of recommended indoor antennas below: www.amazon.com/shop/antennaman/list/2LH365VAPDKLC?tag=onamztylerkle-20&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_m
I got this antenna a year ago, I live in apartment building and it very difficult to get vhf channels like CW or ABC. I had it by the window on top of my AC locked in with magnet base. I could get 54 channels and sometimes in a good clear day, I could get ABC.
Are there any ATSC 3.0 Next Gen portable TV's out there?
Not yet
Perhaps because a small TV would not need a 4K screen (one would need a jeweler's loupe to enjoy the benefit).
An old antenna will work. There's no such thing as an HD or digital antenna. See video below. th-cam.com/video/KKV7Bph0XUM/w-d-xo.html
I have one of these but my t.v. has no usb port only the HDMI how can i solve this pls
Works ok here in Houston TX
One of my neighbors bought one of these and it faired very poorly considering we are 10 miles from the towers for DC stations. Her interest in an antenna coincided with an Antop sale so she bought one of their models despite the dipoles being larger than those on a 2Max.
what do u suggest as the best usb tv tuner for ur pc that don't cost a lot
Is this what Wavemax is?
How much where to buy
I have found that rabbit ears is the best signal search website antenna web sucks no way around it they are out dated and only shows TV stations that would be in the good range on the rabbit ears
Rabbitears.info is definitely the most accurate. Antennaweb.org tends to underestimate over the air signal coverage - sometimes listing no channels available at a location when there are.
Got 1, but with 5v booster on it, I Put mine on a 10' pole, get it as high as possible, I live in a tramper van, different locations, return tv every location, yttrium works
I'm diggin the name💯😎🍺
Dec 6, 2019 you did best 3 outdoor antennas for different situations. Without going through all your vids, have you done this again recently?
Nope - that video is no longer accurate and will be deleted soon. The way to find out the best antennas is to go through my videos or sign up for an antenna recommendation on my website.
What about wavemax ?
I saw a neat video about using an inexpensive software defined radio stick to show tv signal strengths. Wonder if that might be a useful addition to your antenna reviews.
Signal to noise ratio matters more. Raw strength can fool you.
I got the long discontinued "Boxee TV" off ebay, it came with this antenna in the box. I Never bothered using it.
My question is are you using a tv or tv box that atsc 3.0 compatible or just testing with a atsc 1.0 tv?
There is no ATSC 3.0 in my area so I'm only testing ATSC 1.0. We're still in the very early stages of ATSC 3.0 taking off anyway.
What is the best indoor antenna
There is no one that's "the best" but you can find a general list of recommended antennas below: www.amazon.com/shop/antennaman
@Antenna Man Would the antenna work if you're in a multi-floor apartment?
Yes but not this one. Order one of the indoor antennas from the list below: www.amazon.com/shop/antennaman?listId=2LH365VAPDKLC
I used this HD Free TV Digital Antenna from As Seen on TV, now they’re broken to changing channels for KCRA-TV (NBC) to KOVR-TV (CBS).
whats the best indoor antenna for most people?
It depends on the frequencies in the area. You can find a list of recommended indoor antennas below: www.amazon.com/shop/antennaman?listId=2LH365VAPDKLC
@@AntennaMan can you tell me what most people use and like?-i got the link thx
@@larry45044 Don't get the one "people use and like the most." Get one that's appropriate for your area in terms of VHF capability and gain if signals are weak. One of the first three antennas on the list should be good.
Can you review antan 45 mile indor antenna
That's on the list of antennas I'm reviewing. Stay tuned for the results in a few weeks.
I got same one works fine my tv I got 49 ch with airtv box
how is the wavemax hd antenna?
Junk
I considered sending you image of this model a couple of years back -- I elected not to, because I didn't want you to go buy one. If you feel like experimenting, try moving it sideways. The results may improve slightly, having to do with polarization.
That reminds me of a antenna would be for an portable scanner radio or radio transmitter like an frs or gmrs with round 400mhz or so frequencies.
I use a similar antenna like this. I'm so close to the broadcast towers that it manages to get the major channels in pretty okay.
I will say the coaxal cable freaking sucks XD
Dlaczego ja nie moge odebrac tv signal ta antena prosze o szczegulowa instrukcje. Dzienkuje
I obviously live in a hole worse than He11. We have tried dozens of antennas and can't seem to get one single consistent channel. I sometimes want to take these antennas and burn them with a torch. 😁😁
Hi Antenna Man This is Gabe Elliott what is a good antenna for my location
I now offer antenna recommendations for a small fee at the link below. One from me can prevent you from spending hundreds of dollars and time wasted on setting up the wrong antenna for your area. antennamanpa.com/antenna-recommendations.html
The thumbnail! Thought someone stuck a fork in your head.
Reminds me of another picture he had with a vintage rabbit ears antenna he got from the dollar store. Sadly, he deleted the video due to low views.
That rabbit ears antenna is the same one that’s on the TV in the background.
@@ClassicGuy57 For some reason my mind is conjuring images of Uncle Martin on My Favorite Martian.
@@Nathan-jq1uw Very similar to Tyler’s picture.
Hint for those that use old fashioned,
" Rabbit Ear " antenna's : The length of the telescoping pieces are critical to the wavelength, ( Frequency/Channel ), being received !
👍😉
Depending on what DC it ships from, it could have much further range... Luxtronic Marketing. 🙂
I picked up one similar today called wonder wand by Acellories for $4.99 lol at Ocean State Job Lot a discount store. For the price and to use it in my garage or while camping will be fine but again it's not as good as some flat antenna's I have peace
Oh great...another junk antenna to tell people not to buy but they'll buy it anyways 🤣😂
Hey my ping ding pong Chong 4k 67 million mile range did good for ten minutes till the bird shorted out the rotater
I have that antenna, but the only difference is that I got mine from Burlington, and it from Accelories.
I seen that like 5 years ago
I mean it looks like a ~1/4 wavelength vertically polarized monopole. If it has a ground plane, it is too small. tv is usually horizontally polarized besides. 50 miles?!? I cant even...
BTW, if you are off and camping and you brought a television with you, you are sick and missed the entire purpose of CAMPING!
I wanted to say that this tiny antenna unequivocally SUCKS, but then it picked up a couple of your channels with a fairly decent signal🤔
They might’ve had a strong signal. A paperclip with a few inches of aluminum foil on it (now 1-2 inches wide, and 3-4 inches long in total) will work better. The more more foil, the better.
Move it to the window and see what it does you might be surprised what you get even if it's small
That Antenna looks good for an FM radio, or even a police scanner. I do not think that would be that good for television reception.
It will suck badly for FM. FM radio is below VHF-High.
