And it should’ve happened both things at mania that year could’ve happened earlier in the show Punk Vs Shelton ECW title Shelton goes over punk goes in the money in the bank match but comes late because he had a match earlier and he comes in and steals it. Everything could’ve still worked out

If Shelton is guilty of anything, it's loving the business too much. He was way too happy to be in that ring. Had he been fired up and ticked off in order to adopt a Stone Cold-esque character, everyone would've seen right through it because that's not who he is. Talent for days and the powers that be seldom let him climb past the midcard but the true fans know Shelton is a real one.
Shelton and Shawn's match on Raw is easily one of the top non ppv match's ever. That super kick he hit Shelton with off the springboard will forever be in my memories. 🎉
This guy was the real deal, an in life bad ass, freaky athletic, had the look and was alright on the mic. Definitely had the potential to have atleast 1 top belt run, but he definitely should have been a high-mid carder and had like 5 ic or US title reigns

What's interesting is that Shelton did become a gold standard in another way: before you had Kofi Kingston and his yearly Royal Rumble stunts to avoid elimination, you had Shelton Benjamin preforming *never before seen moves and stunts in the Money in the Bank ladder matches. Shelton Benjamin pioneered moves so unique to the match, that they became standard features in WWE video games for many years afterward. This distinction alone I feel is a clincher for Shelton Benjamin as a future inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame. The man helped pioneer both a match that would become not only a yearly match at Wrestlemania (and then go on to become its own Pay-per-view), but also create a move/skill set for the company's gaming franchise. *never before seen...the WWE at least, I don't know about elsewhere, but I'd like to think Benjamin was the first, the originator.

They dismiss it saying "it's up to you to grab the brass ring. You can't sit around waiting for creative to create something for you. I often read complaints that Shelton wasn't good on the mic. That's why you give him a mouthpiece. Or give him more time to practice so that he gets better.

Shelton Benjamin is one of the most underrated wrestlers of the past thirty years. Such talent, athleticism and ability to captivate an audience, especially in ladder matches.
Imagine if the company had given him a Paul Heyman, or placed him with someone like Edge. Team Angle when they were with Kurt was great, but after they parted ways with Kurt they never really made it to the next level. I thought he would achieve greatness when he seemed queued up to beat all the members of evolution, but then they had him lose to Randy which took Randy to another level while kicking Shelton down a few levels on the ladder. I don't think he ever recovered.

That's what killed it for me. Smackdown use to be the home of the rising stars but then it started falling through. Batista stayed I Jared, Khali couldn't hold a match, Jeff was on and off, Punk was Punk. But JoMo , Shelton, Dolph, Kofi, and MVP couldn't get past mid card. I was tuned out by then.
Love Sheldon not only as a wrestler but as a person. Met him a couple of times at Jeff Jarrett Global Force shows with my daughter. He couldn't have been more welcoming to me and her. She's 18 now and still talks about it to this day.
I met Sheldon at comic con MS he was hiding from Ruc Flair but when I seen him I yelled "Sheldon what up dawg" and blew his cover then whole crowd screamed Sheldon!!!!
Glad I got to grow up and watch all these greats back in the attitude era with my grandpa man you had to be there every Monday night every Friday night hell TNA as well in Thursday night also
