Dear Phil, I did exactly as you showed us and now my sustain pedal is working on a Casio Privia. I've wanted this for a long time because the Roland DP-10 has as you know - the unique selling point that it doesn't slip. Thank you for sharing this useful tip.
Do you think it would work for using this hack to make the pedal work with non-Roland digital pianos such as Yamaha pianos that use the opposite polarity? Including the continuous half pedaling function?
Hi, have one question. Recently bought such pedal for my wife, she owns Roland fp30x keyboard, pedal works well in continuous set, but not for all tones, for example it works for concert piano as continuous, but not for church organ or pipe organ, for them it works like switch. Is that expected behavior?
Damper Continuity should be supported by both the instrument(software) and the pedal (hardware). That's why it only worked on concert piano tone, because it's designed and sampled continuously, but some instruments either don't perform that way or not being sampled or designed continuously.
You can use a Roland pedal for sustain with the PX-S3000, just not in the Damper jack. It will work in the Expression/Assignable jack if you're not already using it for something else. You'll need these 2 settings in the Function menu: Pedal/Wheel>EXPR/ASGN>Pedal Target>Damper Pedal/Wheel>EXPR/ASGN>Pedal Type>Exp. Type 2

Great to hear!
It worked. Thank you so much.
It works, thanks from Brazil!
Excellent!
is there anyone know what is this hexagon screw on the top of the pedal ? for what ?
I'm returning mine. I'll have to research one that works with an Arturia controller!
DIDNT NOTICE MINE HAS THAT SWITCH TOO, THANKS!
It works, thanks a lot!
Glad it helped!
thanks!!!
It's work. Many thank.
Glad it was useful!

@@CZWhitekyeah half pedalling should still work
Thanks so much! It worked!
Great! 😊
Funciona no P-45 da Yamaha?
How it doesnt move, after you press it with your foot? Does this pedal also work for roland Fp 10?
Hi i've a question. The scheme of this pedal is compatible for the Yamaha FC3 pedal sustain? Thank you so much
Sorry I'm not sure. The principle to reverse the polarity would likely be the same though.
Ok thank you!

I'm pretty sure that's a limitation of the specific patch on the FP30, not the pedal

Does this work with MIDI keyboards and everything else? I can't wait to use this on my JunoX
It should work with any keyboard that has a sustain pedal input on a quarter inch jack
I now have a Juno X and can confirm it works :)
Can i use it with casio pxs 3000 without any problems?

What did you use to protect the cable after putting it back together?
That’s just some hot glue
It's frustrating that you would have to modify a sustain pedal after spending so much on it.
100% agree. I guess from a brand perspective Roland don’t even want to acknowledge that there are other manufacturers out there.
No way I paid 50 dollars and I have to buy soldering kit and all that as well to be able to use this crap 😭
Roland pretending there are no other companies that make music gear
