I'm not a commercial photographer but I sometimes do some documentary work and the skills you demonstrate are applicable to almost all kinds of shoots. Having said that I found your workflow fascinating, your enthusiasm infectious, and the whole video very entertaining. I hope you do more like this.
I hate most “photographers” work on YT…because YOU ARE. Love the shots, variety of viewpoints, angles. I shot annual reports in the 1980s…your style is reminiscent of that period: people and products for industries. GREAT STUFF.
These videos are just superb! It is so interesting to hear your prep, the client interaction and of course, the gear and work. Just fantastic insight. Thanks Justin-cheers from Newport.
Fabulous insights Justin. Makes this eighty year old art director/photographer want to wind back the clock, but hey, I’m happy and privileged to be here. Keep on keeping on✌️🇦🇺 #lovemyQ
Magical post - thank you. I love the way you take us on your professional shoots. My clientele and gear are totally different, and I don't usually organise the subject. I shoot gigs and events, so have to catch the action as it happens. However, I love the way you have the control to set everything up and actually make the shots. Final pic's in the mag looked great. Can't wait for you to take us on the next trip. Incidentally, I hope you wore your mask in there, that silica dust is very nasty stuff? They have have just banned the solid stone kitchen bench-tops for all of Australia. Dozens of young guys who cut it and worked in the factories are now dying of lung cancer.
It's clear you're working on instinct in these fast moving shoots that you can't plan ahead of time. Fascinating insights into not only your way of working, but also how the subject's knowledge (eg wet vs dry) changed the images for the better. Oh and the real time feedback from your client half a world away ... no pressure dude! You covered it all with aplomb. Thanks for sharing the entire process
These are my favorite videos from you Justin! Soooo good and love seeing this BTS! Appreciate all this content you put out. The marble wet vs. dry was sooo cool to see the difference
"The King of The Stone Age" across the fold shot is magnificent! Absolutely perfect. I've done a few rush editorial shoots. One time I found myself in a cypress swamp along the Mississippi River neck deep in alligators swimming by. Yeah, I'm a Louisiana boy who got the job because I know gators and I was the only lunatic who would do the shoot. I turned down a higher paying shoot to do this particular shoot because it was more interesting. I love shoots where I have no idea what will happen. One day, my obituary will be very interesting. 😂
Great video! Interesting choices of camera and lenses. What is the reason for you to choose sl2 s over Sony and hassleblad? I’m thinking about trying out the sl2 s for event and wedding, long time M and Q shooter. What are your thoughts on the sl asph non apo primes?
I’d be interested to know what the ball park of compensation was for a job like this in that city. I know what is charge here in Melbourne. I understand if you don’t want to share it though. Nice video, first time I’ve seen your channel.
Thank you for showing us some inside of actual jobs in Fotographie. I think the results are really wonderful and impressive. Could learn a lot. You said at the end that they wanted pretty fast the raw pictures of their favourites and then in no time the print was ready, so does it mean that they did the retouch and colour grading. I find it so interesting that many professional photographers that I saw on workshops told me that they don’t know how to do any Photoshop because they have people in their team that do that. So it’s very funny in order to grow as a photographer for example on Instagram, you really need to be very good on retouching but the high end pros don’t know how to do that. I don’t say that you are not able. I’m just curious wonderful video thank you.
Excellent. Photography schools should pick these up. A pro, at work sharing a real job...
Thank you , these videos never do well for total views but I like making them and I hope people find them helpful .

Thanks Stuart, seems like shoots in Asia always have this Wild West feel to them, anything can happen.
excellent work!

@@joshualepik thank you Joshua, the wet marble was sort of a duh moment by me, I almost overlooked it.

Great video and very good images.
You are the master, great content and amazing images.
@@DelDelap I’m no master but I’m thankful for the kind words.
the 24-90 is amazing i use it in all my commercial work
Underrated for sure.

Story Boarding will take over----Everything
I'm curious why you only had one days notice? Surely this kind of shoot would usually be scheduled well in advance?
It’s a great question, they didn’t give me a solid answer about this and I didn’t want to question them about it.
