0:29 is my favorite part - I don't know if this is section is modal or chromatic but it feels accurate to the original transcription. It has that harmonic minor feel and I love it.
@@suzannescribbles A secondary dominant simply involves a [V7 -> I] movement that's not in the original key. It involves using any diatonic chord that's not already the V chord and forcing it to be a V chord by resolving it to the I of _that new_ key. (this will always use a note outside the original key) It makes it sound like we've left the key because the V chord resolving to the I chord is so strong that it implies a new temporary key. I can explain it further if you reply.

Funnioitus wouldn't be there same, but the range would be the same. Trumpets have too much edge in them to sound like a horn, even a bass trumpet. Take it from a horn player, it's close, but too bright
I may be biased, but a horn has a different soul to it, and I prefer it to the mellophone-like sound here. Bass trumpet is too harsh for the Alto voice IMO. It has trouble taking center stage without sounding just like one of the higher parts. His soft tone is beautiful and dark, but he loses all the depth of sound as he gets louder. It doesn't move your soul the same way.
Idk what classifies as a bass trumpet in your country, but here, a "bass trumpet in Eb" is a marching mellophone. Bass trumpets here are in Bb, the same as a tenor trombone.

Secondary dominants! The chords are: D | B7 | Em | A7 | C | Am | / / D11 | G etc. Though the original is a tone higher in A major :)
