Virginia Woolf's The Death of the Moth - A Beautiful Short Audiobook || Non-Fiction

  • "The Death of the Moth" is an existential reflection from the iconic modernist author Virginia Woolf, published posthumously in 1942. I was deeply moved by the piece while crafting this audiobook and would love to hear your thoughts once you've taken a listen. Although technically non-fiction; a short essay of sorts, for me Virginia's Woolf's stream of consciousness here was as engaging as any fictional story.

Of course this is not the first audiobook of a short story that I've produced, but do let me know if you appreciate these shorter reads. Likewise, if you've a particular favourite by Virginia Woolf, or perhaps a classic shorter piece from another writer that you'd like to hear, please do share your recommendations.

Thank you, Steven. What a sad and thoughtful vignette. Virginia Woolf wrote prose that was like poetry.

Virginia Woolf is a superb writer who has the ability to make the mundane and insignificant somehow both extraordinary and magnificent.
As always your choice of music is perfect, reminding one of the beating of the moth's tiny wings.
Thank you Steven for making such a beautifully crafted video. 💕

Yes Steven, I like both long and short stories. Each serves the purpose of settling me down to sleep. Actually, the really long ones with chapters spliced together are sometimes needed to get me through a really rough night. I am grateful to have access to those through my subscription. Good to listen to you once again!

Yay you're back! Hope you help us soon with more longer stories. Maybe some myths or stories inspired by ancient cultures or religions.

Beautifully read reflection of the fragility of life and its inevitable end. She had such an ability to capture the beauty and importance of the overlooked details of life.
    Marvelous.

I would like to hear some short stories. I'm in graduate school, so I read academic and non-fiction all day long. A nice escape into a short story or novel chapter is welcome.

Thank you! Such a beautiful production. I liked the length, however it was a bit sad. It was especially so with the context you share at the end. I am much more hopeful about the transition from this world back to our home and moving on in our adventures. Still, i do appreciate the work youve done here. Thank you again

I really do like things like this. Just a little short moments that you don't think about until you do.
Also also I like well perhaps find interesting is more accurate. A lot of Virginia Wolf's writing. I wish she could have had as dignified a death as the Moth. Whose in the end was not?
