When I think Clouser minnow I think of the lead eyes inverting the hook. I can’t imagine that the Boobie eyes have enough weight to flip the hook, so I’m assuming it rides hook point down? Only asking because I like to keep the lighter colors on the bottom.
I love the color scheme and that fish wisp looks like good stuff for building the illusion of bulk without making it a wet sock to cast. Thanks!

This is a great question as it goes against the classic clouser platform. The idea behind this is to have a super erratic swimming fly similar to a x rap. The fly has no for sure swim pattern which seems to help trigger strikes with our local smallies.

Won’t the fly swim hookpoint down/upside down when tied that way? The heavy wire wide gap hook and the boobie eyes tied would seem to make it want to swim hook down, like a standard baitfish fly, as opposed to a Clouser? As such, shouldn’t the colors be reversed? Just curious, thanks!

Great question! Similar to the response to the above question we don't want this fly to swim true by any means. We are looking for a crazy all over the place swim pattern that gets bass and other predatory fish to react and punish this thing. Last season on the snake the smallmouth didn't know what hit em haha

Cool fly. You could just reverse the order of the colors to be more realistic.
