i love that your mic is in stereo, I love the detail of hearing your keyboard clacking in one ear and hearing your midi keyboard in the other, and hearing you move around depending on how you sit. i just love that little detail so much
I'm really terrible at writing drums, this is actually just packed with rhythmic tricks to steal. The fact that you change the drums so many times really gives me a lot of stuff to practice with (steal)
I love your workflow Ben. The confidence and playfulness of how you record things and work with the DAW makes producing look fun. Sometimes it can be easy to lose sight of the fun or get hung up in the recording process. Thanks for the inspiration
Peter Marsh The irony I learned at a certain point is that it’s very structured, but the complexity makes it seem the opposite. In a more 4/4 pop song or such, I imagine the sounds more-so creating these longer, even-length slices of walls (if it’s the same tempo), andthe walls have no metaphoric meaning, they are like spaces filled in by the notes over time on a graph, like in the program he used. Whereas complex music makes the shapes and everything weirder to look at, it looks like it’s errywhere to me.
Usually when you see people who had facial hair without said hair, they tend to look kinda strange and gross but our boy Benny is a hella good looking guy with or without facial hair
Aww, no Portugal concerts this year... Hope I get to see you guys another time, Bent Knee in Lisbon was one of the best shows I've ever been to, no lie
I can relate so hard to your thought process and stylistic choices and general demeanour even though I'm no way close to the level of musicianship that you've achieved. Keep doing the good work man
Your video reminds me of how Richard James from Aphex Twin writes his music. Good example is the first song of his latest album Collapse EP: T69 collapse. It’s always morphing but there’s an overall theme he sticks with.

Adam Neely: Repetition legitimizes
Ben: Hold my beer
More like hold my BEARD, amirite?

Steal from 1, it's theft. Steal from many, it's research. ;)

15:02 "Get real wet right before the entrance". Mmhmmm... *takes notes*... Continue.
kungfuasgaeilge Nice.
(lennyface)
I like Ben cuz he makes the same sound effects as me while making music
This was rad! I'm always surprised at how fluid yet unstructured your workflow seems to be. Perhaps that is the best way for creative expression
It's so rough and all the place, it would drive me mad, but that rough feeling comes out really nicely.

Watching you work was inspiring. Thanks Ben.

Erik Dornelles bent knee in Atlanta was the best show I’ve been to. I think Bent Knee anywhere is just amazing tbh.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one who makes random noises for hours until I find something I like.
This is so chill. I needed this today.
Just bought a ticket for your show in Sweden! Can't wait!

Congrats on touring in Europe Ben!!!!
This was a fascinating video
This is great! I'd love to see you do something like this live streamed, so people can give some input on the piece.
Fascinating as usual!
Good song Ben, thanks for the video
YOU'RE OPENING FOR HAKEN? HOLY SHIT, BEN!!!!
Applying this method when writing music for animations atm! Great meeting you in Bristol dude:)
Hi Ben! To create that effect of morphing beat I used to use loops with differents lengths, then it's like a polyrhythm of loops overlapping
he uses that effect in a video called sound sandwich, check it out!
Cool! I'm going to watch it. Thanks
Wow who would have guessed that Ben Levin invented IDM
I thought TH-cam didn't allow nudity.
Amazing beat !!
I wish I had time to see you in Kraków... Hope to see you in Gdańsk some day!
Kinda also reminds me of Dustsucker by Bark Psychosis, especially “From What is Said to When it’s Read”
Morphin' Beats and Doggy Treats
heavy beats man
Youre opening for h a k e n holy shit congrats thats awesome
Awww, I’ll love you, dawg
The best reminds me of early Benga, Coki and Skream.
the lyrics tho
What you're in Bent Knee?! I had no idea. See you in Europe!
That was ace. It ended up kinda sounding like a Jack Stauber track!
The times, they keep a'changing.
I miss the beard. And the old glasses. But good beets, Ben.
Really, it's a tough call for me personally... This level of stubble has a nice sex appeal to it...
Thanks lord you're coming to Spain ! :D
there are 2 Bens in your Bent Knee tshirt
@Ben Levin I love your stuff man! Can you please tell me what programm you use for these awesome animations? Greetings and love from Vienna.
this is so good lol
Massive is great.
Where do you find these drum kits?
can we get this instrumental?
Oh you're dropping out before İstanbul.. Haken is cool but I'd attend to see you guys.
Nooooooo, I can't make it to be on Bent knee D:

Your videos are always dope. Have you heard of Jack Stauber?
OK where is Ben?
I'm not gonna lie, you look pretty nice without a beard
What DAW is this?
He uses Reaper. Its an open source daw with a free trial. The license is super cheap as well, it's worth checking out.
who is this guy? where's ben?
Honestly, I get a weird Wings For Marie vibe with the first couple notes after everything adds in... That may just be me tho lol
Like 303. : )
is it a coincidence or saying "Ben Levin" sounds similar to "Blanck Banshee"? :D

Clean Shaven Ben , I like it. with that thick chia pet beard im betting you dull a blade in like 2 shaves

Sounds like a constant breakbeat buildup that goes nowhere, pretty doofy
ben, this is a great creative medium.. but is this what you want to be doing when jesus returns?
