I'm with you on Boston. I grew up in NH. We were only 45 min away from Boston, but rarely went. We moved down to TN to get away from the people and culture up there. So much elitism and lack of courtesy, and rudeness in general (not to mention the political climate). I have been back 3 times, and the culture shock is astounding, arriving back in New England.

I'm a native of central NH, myself. (Plymouth/Bristol area) Even the culture shift from the south of the state to the north end is somewhat shocking.

the old original Holiday was the favorite and, to my knowledge, only tobacco smoked by the late Prof. Zacharopolis of Hellenic/Holy Cross Orthodox seminary.
while i was there i was the one entrusted with its procurement for him.
at the time, he was working on a book on Theodore of Mopsuestia. i have it now in my library.

Been pipe smoking a year, tried some 33 blends. I realized how much I love The Country Squire, and have decided to order an ounce of every non-aromatic they offer. Acquiring a new blend or two every so often, it's been real nice.
I don't know when I'll go through an aromatic itch again, but I know from experience and sampling no one can compete with their offerings on that front.

Got to think about it Dr. Harrelson, there is a lot of history in Boston that’s worth visiting. I’ve been once about ten years ago now, and have wanted to go back but the reason I had to go is not there any more. My in-laws lived in NH for a time but they moved to Washington state a few years ago. But there is history worth seeing in Boston. It’s the same with, dare I say it, San Francisco. There is the mission presidio and the mural walk, a lot of Latin American graffiti was changed to murals. That’s just a couple things, and I know about them cause I had a professor in college who made us go there…

Cheap in bulk, got to go through it, rough mixture, but last batch I got, got whole leaves folded over, oriental? Unfolded and ripped, just went through bag, removed a few stems along the way before jarring. Great stuff. Love it smoke a bowl every night on my way home from work, sometimes another one, wife doesn't complain about smell.

The podcast is similar to what Shad from Shadiversity did with his channel. His main channel is his normal content and then he made a 2nd channel called knight watch where he is more, opinionated, on various topics. I don't really mind the random rants but it does make it easier to categorize content when it is on a separate channel/platform

I went to LJ Peretti for the first time this year, and while it is a nice little shop and I enjoy a number of their blends, it's not the easiest place to access without a lot of walking or an excessive parking or ride sharing fee. As for bulk blends to cellar, it's going to be a list of non-aromatics. Peretti's 150th Anniversary is in my cellar, as is their Cuban Mixture and Tashkent, but I didn't get enough of any to get a paint can, so I can't speak to that particular form of storage and its efficacy. Watch City has a nice list to choose from, such as Old Dominion, Ahab's Comfort, and Waltham Broken Cake. Country Squire Cowboy Coffee, Yazoo Witch(limited seasonally) and Pilgrim's Muse are good for cellaring. JM Boswell's Northwoods and Private Stock are as well. And finally, Father Dempsey is available from a number of different sources in bulk.

Im cellaring some Orlik Golden Sliced. I tried it three times and just don't like it. It's praised by many. But I'm not a fan of heavy or pure bright/golden virginia. I don't like the "grassy" or citrus taste generally, unless balanced by something darker. But, maybe with some age (on both myself and the tobacco), I'll come to like it.

You are exactly right about OJK, which in my opinion might just be the ultimate highend codger blend. I recommend buying the 8oz tin which truly helps the aging process. What you get after a year or 2 is a delicious, fruited, pack house antiquity, that I've never seen duplicated, and with a kick I might add!

I've noticed that with some of these blends, like Haunted Bookshop (which I don't really like either) adding some straight Burley to the blend makes it alot more palatable. I know it isn't the same blend after that, but the mild sweetness of Burley really helps to smooth out some of these other more sour blends.

thank you for the recommendations. Where i live, classic pipe smoking is about as rare as a genuine jackalope out in the wilds of public civilization, so finding quality pipe tobacco is a challenge in unto itself. the closest thing in my neck of the woods is the 2oz pouches of the usual popular tobacco/cigarette store codger blends, and bulk bags of smoker friendly blends with a couple other brands i am not interested in. i enjoy aromatics very much, they help keep me grounded and contemplative to everything life throws my way. recently was able to order from a couple of online perveyors of fine tobacco that i did not even know existed before until recommended by other commenters on various pipe smoking videos, and looking forward to another pipe adventure.

Some interesting recommendations, thanks! Unfortunately being in UK, some of those might not be feasible for me to get a hold of, BUT, fortunately there’s plenty of blends still out there!😄
Still quite early days for me on my pipe journey, so when it comes to decent cellar time and exp, it ain’t really there atm (just by virtue of time)..However, being in UK, some of the most available bulk stuff comes from GH/SG, so I’d lend a nod to those (with them having a strong reputation generally, and many being of good cellaring components)👍
Edit: removed last part; influenced by poor mood, and not necessary👍
