      @@PlantObsessed oh yes, me too. However at night I always take the time to post the videos I want to post and catch up on those channels I follow. One of the benefits of sleeping only 3 hours a night is that you can get a lot done. I'd much rather be sleeping but 51 years of habit isn't going to change

    I'm transitioning an outdoor bin to something like this. Its a milk crate buried like a subpod. Started with paper and food scraps but is becoming more and more where I drop the weeds and plant prunings pulled from that corner of the garden. I keep a paver brick on top and a big rock nearby to smash noxious weed roots and help ensure they dont come back

      Yes I suppose it is sort of like my outside towers and buried buckets. Good call

    After seeing you use those twirler helicopter maple seeds, like you did again here, I collected the ones that were on my patio & put them into my compost barrel. I have a feeling that the worms are really gonna like that stuff 👍🏻

    No no no - you got it all wrong, it's not a tornado.
    According to my four-year-old grandson, it's a *torMato storm* 🌪️🍅🍅🍅😆 at least that's his pronunciation!
    I would imagine that would be quite messy too🤔 thousands of tomatoes whipping around at high speed smashing into things. Pasta anyone? 😀

      Yes and also if they're not dry you can just pull the weeds and let them dry and then you have the bedding again. 😁🪱👍🏼

    Hi Anne,
    I ran a Geobin during the last 2 winters, with mainly fallen tree leaves. I tried each time to make it into hot compost, (added table scraps and coffee grounds) and it tried, but never got very hot.
    The leaves are hard to keep wet since they don't absorb. The wasnt much rain.
    When it did rain, the bottom became muddy/mucky, and was hard to turn.
    Once I realized that it wasnt heating up much, I added a few worms, maybe 50. They survived, but didnt really thrive. I think they helped get the leaves to interact with the table scraps, and begin to break down.

    Nice video. We produce a lot of weeds that can be fed to the worms and converted to valuable fertilizer.

    I keep one outside and for the most part it gets all my flower clippings when I prune and leaves. I occasionally will put some scraps in there but not like my other inside bins. And it’s crazy populated.

    I just seen a creator talking about weeds in the garden, picking them but leaving them so they break back down. Weeds with large tap roots mine minerals from deep in the soil. Adding to a worm bin may help with fortifying the castings with more nutrients and minerals. 🤔😁🪱🪱

      @PlantObsessed  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good idea. I typically pull the garden weeds let them sit a day so I'm sure they are dead. Lol I have had some come back alive and start growing in my compost bin.

      @@PlantObsessed compost tea is another good use for them. Place in a bucket with some water in it. I let it sit for a week or so (typically it starts to smell) add some water and water around base of your plants. Or full strength right into the compost pile 😁
