Yep, yet another group Prince introduced me to. I believe he sample fifty fifty clown (from this same album) on “Love Thy Will Be Done” and “One Of Us”
Listen to the whole Heaven Or Las Vegas album, if you haven't already. There are NO skippable tracks. Fantastic album. And you're right Cherry-coloured Funk is not long enough. I love the ethereal feel to it.
Victorialand, Treasure, Head Over Heels & Blue Bell Knoll are must hear albums. Cocteau Twins is more an experience for the mind than music. They can elevate your mood like no other band. Great channel! ✌️
I was studying for a biochemistry exam in grad school when this album came out. I listened to THIS song in a loop every time I studied, took notes and drew the chemical formulas on paper. The next week the song was just in my head and during the midterm, I listened to it, and all the formulas just spilled out onto paper again. I broke the curve of the class.😊. She is not singing in any language. It is one she made up and uses to show emotion rather than traditional communication. The sounds are her feelings....no syntax other than music. You have to hit up 'Four Calendar Café' to listen to English. That is an excellent album as well!
Love your reaction mid-song: "Is this song even in English?" In a very rare move, Liz released some actual lines from the lyrics. "Behind the heart is black and dull as the night / Behind your past and starts being as you in ecstasy / Still being cried and laughed at before / Should I be sewn and hugged / I can by not seeing / Still being cried and laughed at from light to blue / Or should I be hugged and tugged down through this tiger's mask" - taken from th-cam.com/video/ugR2skVnC_E/w-d-xo.html (around 18:00)
I was just considering which Cocteau Twins song to request...lovely request & reaction! The title track is great too. I laughed so hard at J's reaction at the ending being too soon. ❤️ I think atmospheric is a great way to describe they sound of they're music. I always need lyrics to follow along with Cocteau Twins.
This is from an album, Heaven or Las Vegas , that i usually listen from track one to the last one every time. That's the perfect length for me to go all through this experience.
I actually know Will Heggie one of the founders of Cocteau Twins and occasionally chat to Elizabeth Fraser's sister too! Simon Raymonde the bassist who joined after Will had left the band has only agreed (after I asked him) to sign my vinyl sleeve of Blue Bell Knoll and also Love's Easy Tears! I'm in heaven! C.
I think the other word you were trying to find to describe this "atmospheric" sound is ethereal! Cocteau twins are one of a kind and paved the way for dream pop IMHO
JJ, I think you will enjoy their entire catalog. It's all beautiful and atmospheric. The lyrics are inaudible by design, some think she is making up her own language.
@@wakeupstopsleeping6300 I noticed a lot of 90s songs sound like they could have came out today. What's interesting though is not one person in 1990 would think a song from 1958 sounds recent, even if the same amount of years have passed.
Great LP - still in my collection/rotation. Cowboy Junkies comes to mind hearing this but if you want a suggestion that isn't reacted to and still is a fantastic song try listening to Meshell Ndegeocello - Good Day Bad
The Cocteau Twins were one of a kind. Every album is excellent, so any amazing songs. Definitely try more, you’ll enjoy them!
Prince loved Cocteau Twins.

This was my request It’s been a while since I’ve checked out the channel and I wondered if you heard it. Glad it was a hit!

I first heard Cocteau Twins almost 40 years ago - love to see them still blowing minds all these years later.

I dunno about mood elevation, only a fraction of their stuff is joyous. Much is dark, moody, melancholy, or just oblique.
It’s ‘captivating’
‘euphoric’

Cocteau Twins pioneered the genre Dreampop
Check out Vocalist Elizabeth Fraser's new project Sun's Signature. It is stunning!
Yess, great choice, you said it well, you can easely get lost in their music. Thanks for the reaction.

Great reaction to a great song and my favorite band of all time. 😀😃😄😁
Cocteau's hook another one. There is no going back
Awesome song and your right it was atmospheric. Celtic like volcals.
One of my favorites by the Cocteau Twins is the song Ivo.

a super under-rated band............

Hi when they did come out? Is this 2000's band but not bad at all thank you for the request first time hearing 👍🏾👍🏾❤️❤️
@@wakeupstopsleeping6300 This is actually from 1990.
@@StatisticsJason oh wow sounds recent....lol

A very unique band in which what you think the lyrics are, is more important than what they were actually trying to convey.
Cocteau Twins got me through my first year of high school. Have you listened to Beach House or Slowdive yet?
I read somewhere that one of the new school rappers sampled this. Maybe the Weekend.
When the exhale of lit green is released, it’s when the needle makes contact with vinyl.
You might like and should react to Delays Valentine, they were heavily influenced by Cocteau Twins and The Hollies. C.
Heaven or las vegas next!!

They're Scottish, but she didn't sing in a language of any kind. And you'll find your glad of it over time. It's timeless beauty!
