    In Episode 21 I avoid the Corona virus by keeping my nose to the grindstone. To distract myself from the end of the world, I decide to tear up the side porch on the house, replacing the roof and foundation. This renovation has clearly gone far, much further than I wanted but that seems to be the pattern for me.

    Your videos on the $9,000.00 house are great. I didn't follow much of your last house remodel. But, I saw enough of it. You are inspiring. I feel guilty that I have not even begun a remodel of my present house & home. I'm retired in Virginia. However, when I was a little younger, I did a remodel of our house in London, England. That was very satisfying. It was a mess when I began the project. But it was a Show Home, once I had finished. That was many years ago and three wives back. I left it for my British wife and two kids. I went back to work in America, after taking a year to remodel the house.

    New viewer. I have really enjoyed this series and look forward to seeing others. Reminds me of watching “This Old House” and “Hometime” growing up. All about the work, the problem solving, doing things the right way. Not like the shows on TV where it is all about how much they spend (or don’t spend), how fast they can sell, and bland design. Keep up the great work.

    I did not see that coming even though you pointed out at the beginning that the floor was uneven. I know you want to get it right. I now see the folly in using cinder block on any foundational work. Concrete is more stable as long as the groundwork is stable. Glad you have done this before that does look as a daunting task to get the foundation of that side porch corrected.

    I thought you lost it at 15:43 and decided to tear the whole thing down! XD Glad to see your doing well, since I got let off work for now i'm starting to ramp up my at home projects that i've been meaning to do for awhile now. Got fixing the roof on the shed addition, cleaning and orginaizing the shed, painting outdoor furniture, and the big one to finnish up my kitchen is putting tile floor down which will be done monday! :) Oh hey what are some of the cool finds you have run across while doing all of these old homes? I found down in the dirt when I was digging for foundation posts an old water pump and tons of old bottles that are from around the 1940's!

    • @Shrubhumper
      @Shrubhumper 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was thinking the same thing. Even though its treated, it will still rot. Needs to be set on a concrete poured footer. Not sure this would pass code now days.

    • @johnmckeon3196

    I would rethink carpet in that porch. In wet weather, you want a more water resistant flooring. Sheet vinyl would work well, be very inexpensive, and very durable. This is going to be terrific when you are done.

    but how about left hand porch on that house? front porch wraps all way to side door you put in ,the porch floor and the roof turns at end of house.The roof on those left hander houses are squared at end at two ends not pitched. just suggestion- good luck.

I definitely like and use Milwaukee cordless tools a lot, but specifically when it comes to a good old circular saw the dewalt ones are a lot better in my opinion.
