Honestly, this AI stuff being shoved everywhere just feels like crypto being shoved back in 2020. Am I the only one that when AI is sold as a feature I'm instantly turned off?
It's not just you. There are always tech fads that give dumb investors big boners. The plan is always to pump up the idea, and then dump their positions when the product is insolvent.

Used to feel the same but honestly crypto didn't help me do anything meaningful. AI on the other hand is still very early but there are numerous things it is helping me do. Now it may not be there yet but it can't be compared to crypto. Just give it a few more years for the dust to settle

Huge speculation: YC is noticing Theo’s success as an influencer & dev tools builder and sees the Pear co-founders’ existing influence as their entire competitive advantage.
As a guy who's sent plenty of applications for investment from all sorts of groups, I know with confidence that, whatever else they say they want, they want you to be making money to get money.
Important distinction between prompting ChatGPT vs having an integrated copilot is that it's opt in vs opt out. I prompt the Chatbot when I need something rather than it being suggested to me and me having to constantly reject it.
One point to the integrated solution is that it's easier for it to consume your codebase as input, but you kind of have to believe that the AI would produce better output than you in most cases for it to be the natural default.

ive been following these guys working on pearai on twitch and yt and knew about their content before making cs content. they are hardworking and put alot of time and effort into it. why not get with the trend and utilize packages to speed up the process and also make it open source? its just tech bros being haters lol. they hate to see others winning and if its not work being done from scratch, it means ur a bad dev lol
it would be more impressive if they did it from scratch. But ig people r embracing the "don't reinvent the wheel" saying so that they can get that money quicker

There's nothing wrong with basing your product off a fork but what is pear bringing to the table? If pear AI isn't changing or improving on Continue, marketing it as a new product feels a bit disingenuous. It doesn't mean they're bad devs or whatever, people just don't want to support a product like that.
