    Another great episode guy's and those 3RZ's are becoming pretty popular with people screwing plenty of power out of them!

      @@freestyleskyline I'm hearing you mate, they have become like most other great performing JDM engines with the exception these things are out of a bloody Hilux!

    At least you fix your cars when tuning, I had a tuner tell me the silicone intake elbow was sucking shut. They tuned it with that and fucked up a few other bit on my turbo 1fz. Next tuner put it on their dyno and asked why such a big dip in the tune graph. So hard to find quality tuners , techs, mechanics. Keep up the quality work

    Weird wastegate/boost issue. I had a similar-ish boost control problem at one point, turned out to be a combination of an intake leak and a tiny crack in the reference hose. 🤷‍♂️

    Refer to nugget garage and watch the Hoffs 3rz ke10. Those motors are absolutely staunch as all hell.

    I love the facts about the submersible fuel lines, fake walbros, oil lines not being fireproof, definitely all great things to know. Stuff you don't think about and can cause the biggest headaches when troubleshooting .
    I remember during a tune my old boss used a ratchet to keep the fuel cap open in a crx and it gained 100whp... Everyone was like WTF. I was like ahhh I get it now ...

    Fantastic video. So much to learn about fuel system components. I live in Missouri, USA and I drive a 1998 Toyota 4Runner 5MT 4x4 2.7 that I work on often, so this was cool to see. Funny, my previous car was a 2009 Pontiac G8 6.0 so this channel doesn’t seem too foreign. Even though you guys say “Kilowatts” instead of “horsepower” and “zed” instead of “zee”, everything basically applies to tuning in the US too.

    Had a similar issue on a v6 turbo. Think it was a fake walbro pump. I got it from a reputable wholesaler but I think they got jibbed too.

    Great video on the potential headaches of tuning a new combo, will have to keep an eye on all of those things with my 3rz hilux. Should be able to run closed loop boost control with the new software as well on the 550, it's one of the things that sold me on the entry level ecu over a 750/950 after the nsp update.

    • @theowoollett1826
      @theowoollett1826 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why did you opt for the 550 over 750? 550s and 950s are being made obsolete in coming months

    • @jpstrim
      @jpstrim 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theowoollett1826 for myself and I'm sure many others, the 550 does everything and more that you need for a fairly basic 4 cylinder engine, especially after the nsp software update. They will still be supported by Haltech so shouldn't be an issue.

    These engines do fine with the brap muffled away. What a terrible sound but with a proper exhaust they quiet down enough to use in the woods at night.

    First time watching this video , but one of the main issues on this trucks running out of fuel on high rpm is because you need to get rid of the oem relay and put and aftermarket relay to have 12v constantly

    The exhaust housing is probably too small .63 ar. Get a 3 inch exhaust with a plumb back y no screamer as illegal. Then up the housing to .83 ar. Add you're Mac valve and it will be fine.
