Ya know, this really feels like an adult sandbox. The big boy version of playing in the garden with a Tonka truck.

I worked at a sand and gravel pit in the 1980’s, it was along the Brazos river in Texas. It was great being out in the country along the river every day, playing with the big boy toys in the real world sand box was a treat. I’ve been workin on the railroad in a locomotive shop for almost 27 years now and it’s been like playing with a big train set most of the time.

Awesome torque. You could almost hear the individual pops when lugged down to almost no rpms. Way cool! Watching this reminded me of the guys building the Al-Can highway in WWII with the big ol Cats. Toby - would you be interested in maybe doing a Squatchumentory on the Cats that were used during construction? It'd be great to hear your in-depth knowledge of the equipment used. Thanks for all the great videos.

Now that I think of it...had to replace the exhaust on a 1-cyl Wisconsin someone had mounted to the back of an old JAEGER cement mixer & had 2 options. A straight pipe down which sounded just like this when revved but was deafening...or adapt the air cleaner (filter medium removed) from a VE4 which was a little quieter. Might work better if the oil bowl gets cleaned up thoroughly then put back on. But yeah few things make an engine sound meaner than a straight pipe.

Anyone know how to lubricate the "track wheels"?(forgot the name for them).the manual seems to show one method, but mine looks different.....has removable outer covers.i fairly recently aquired this from neighbor who used it many years ago,and have got it running well, but wish to lubricate everything.any info,or pointing to where to get info, would be appreciated.
Mine looks like it originally had the same type of blade, but now has a homemade put together of some other type of blade, with welding and no overhead bar.

@squatch253 thanks! My caps do not have the anemone fittings-o was thinking of possibly drilling and threading them, to put in grease fittings.
It looks like,on the inside(under the machine)there is a large hole that the grease comes out of when filling/exchanging .this is all hardened grease.guess I would have to clean that out,I sort of did one just with a metal screwdriver,to see what it looked like. Possibly the rest of the hardened grease make come out with pressure from a grease gun(after using a cap with installed fitting)....or any suggestion on cleaning, etc.would be greatly appreciated.

Is that machin running on kero or gas (petrol in NZ)? My uncle had two M crawlers and a farmall M all of which he ran on kerosene. Mobil used to mix him up a brew of 50% lighting kerosene and 50% turpentine whdd Rd after power kerosene was no longer available.
I would hate to think what that would cost today.
