The way you said Lars Nootbaar sounded like you were surprised he was playing for them. I had no idea he was Japanese til it was announced he was playing with Japan.
Hurt that we lost seiya, but Yamamoto and sasaki are unreal. With Sasaki already throwing 102 in one of the practice games and all 4 pitchers throwing some nasty balls, I really feel bad for the catchers. Murakami may have a big role, being the batter after Otani, if teams choose to walk Ohtani and face him instead. I also think Kondō will have a massive impact this tournament
Would love to see that too but we’ll see right now he’s only slated to pitch once, first round matchup vs Czech but there is a chance he pitches in the championship game if Japan gets there

If Cuba makes it to the semis I’ll be flying Sunday morning to Miami 😅! Have to go support my country with some MLB players taking part in the team for the first time ever. Don’t sleep on Cuba, we might not have the biggest names but these players are some dogs
Great preview! Love the implementation of the pitcher use limitations, it’ll be interesting to see how teams manage their pitching staffs accordingly. Really looking forward to watching Japan play, especially the “Monster of the Reiwa Era.”

it's so frustrating that the USA never takes this serious. they have the best pitchers in the world and have never had a top 5 pitcher compete in this. their lack of passion is pretty disgusting to me as a baseball fan lol

Donkeysaurus, I know the major leages are intergrated , but I think not enough, like for it to have a title like the World Series , as I was wachting the WC, the teams carrying the name of a country they are also intergrated, in this case I think there should be a more sacrate commitment the keep the teams with native personal, l just see it more realisticly.

I feel like Korea is the great unknown in the tourney. I haven’t seen them play against international competition as much but I know many like myself watched the KBO when it was the first baseball back a few years ago! Those guys can play and extremely fun to watch with the passion they bring!

Why the USA doesn’t bring the best? Players like mr 62hr Judge or DeGrom ++ etc? ….Clearly usa can have two teams and beyond. Also japan should play on this side of the ocean. Tooo easy for them over there with those teams that are a joke and without baseball tradition - except cuba or Korea - both so bad.

Sure there are a bunch of other better catchers like d’Arnaud but this is the 3rd string catcher we’re talking about lol. Good catchers would rather stay with their teams and learn the new rules and catch their own pitchers for reps instead of sitting on the bench at the WBC mid spring training
