Some very negative comments on here about the Band. Surprisingly from Americans. I was there on the 3rd August. Thought they did a great set. Acoustics were spot on, and they got the crowd going.

I was at the tattoo and looking forward to Americans representing. Unfortunately the Citadel were shockingly undisciplined in marching and staying in line. Looked like one of our average high school bands in Texas.
It takes exceptional talent to look that disorganized and get back into formation. It's intentional. The last song is a song about the school and where it's located on the Ashley River in Charleston.
@@buzz71544 there was some phasing issues that we have since resolved. Being that spread out across the esplanade caused for some time delays between key people that give use the tempo we follow throughout the song.
Here's a military college from the USA with co-called music (really noises) that could be played by a normal high school band. What brings a US college musical group to pretend something they are not???? Way too many woke members of the group, perhaps>
@@halspencer6613 to answer your question… we are not pretending. See, most high schools have music departments that have multiple faculty directing the programs, they have music boosters, and support from the parents of the students. At the Citadel we have a single director who oversees the entirety of the band and all things music. The cadets are those supporting members, not just in the way of playing music, we make sure there is a band that can play. We are not pretending or portraying ourselves as something we’re not, it would be hard to do as this band is very unique and there are not many like it in the world. Also, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is by invite only, if we produce what some may think are merely just noises, why did we get chosen out of the other thousands of bands in the United States?
Having seen this show in full both good and bad iterations, it has improved drastically since early August. This particular video was one of the Citadels first performances at the Tattoo since 2015 and with an entirely different band. Something worth mentioning is the technical difficulties working against us for the entirety of that particular show. I think given the circumstances this wasn't a terrible outcome. It could've been better yes, but this is a college not a professional band. The cadets add something unique to the tattoo that no other band does, and I think you should really gain some perspective before posting a comment like that.

@@theasianradiooperator ... yes... phasing... and several were completely out of step. The song arrangement is strange. Lots of intonation problems.

The Citadel is a military college with no music department. This is an extracurricular activity done quite well.
