@@jisellesharmaignequintao5804 I wouldn’t say that at all. It’s a great album but was always somewhat derivative of the Madonna Erotica album and many years later. Control or more likely, Rythym Nation 1814 is her magnum opus.

I quite agree... Damita Jo & 20 y.o were both good albums but single choices could have been better....Dicipline not so good. Her 5 best albums Velvet Rope, Janet, unbreakable, All 4U, & Rythmn Nation. ❤
I'm not a Swiftie by any stretch of the imagination but I actually like Look What You Made Me Do, it grabbed people's attention which is never a bad thing
Also, with Glory, Make Me and Slumber Party weren't bad single choices at all. The combination of both wasn't the best idea because sonically they're quite similar. A better choice would've been to have Slumber Party be the lead single and then a track like Love Me Down, Do You Wanna Come Over? or Change Your Mind (No Seas Cortes) as the second single, like you said.
All Night (Don’t Stop) and Just A Little While are two of my favorite songs by Janet Jackson. It’s sad that people couldn’t get over the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Damito Jo will ALWAYS be the album that's tainted by Super Bowl Controversy. It's pretty much a fact at this point that the quality of the music is not the problem. It was her being blackballed by many outlets not wanting to promote Janet's music that stunted it's success.
I have to disagree a bit with the explanation around Janet. The issue wasn't so much the single choices as much as it was that Janet was black balled in the media because of the Super Bowl incident. She didn't receive any major radio airplay or video airplay as she was for all intents and purposes banned from being played on many major networks. So honestly, it wouldn't have mattered much what she released at that time, due to the black ball she would have most likely failed anyway.
Just A Little While by Janet was actually on track to move into the top 10 but got pulled from the radio when the Super Bowl thing happened. I think “All Nite Don’t Stop” and “I Want You” had potential to go top 10 if there wasn’t the fallout from the Super Bowl
I always thought while the song was catchy, It contradicted her entire image she had built up until that point with lines like 'Im dancing a lot, Im taking shots and Im feeling fine. Im kissing all the boys and girls someone call the doctor cause I lost my mind' like this wasn't the same girl who made Dirrty back in 2002.

I do think the right songs were chosen as singles, but it's the order they were released in that could have been done better. All Nite is a no-brainer, as the best uptempo track. I would have loved to see R&B Junkie get the proper single treatment as well. This era really was unfortunately just doomed by the scandal that overshadowed it and the cruel blacklisting that followed.
The video for Just a little while was ok but it seems like it would have been a better fit for something from the All For You Era. It seemed kinda dated in 2004.
Thank you SO much for making this video! As an avid music fan for as long as I can remember, I have noticed this dismal trend far too often. It bothers me when standout songs that would likely attract and excite listeners languish as deep cuts. Meanwhile an album’s most forgettable tracks are sometimes chosen as singles. And the smooth, mid-tempo jam “Feels So Right” remains a party staple decades later.

I think that with the modern technology and use of social media platforms, billboard ratings are less important now compared to the live streams popularity
I recently rewatched the Not Myself Tonight video and then just listened to the song and I don't think the song is really that bad. It is not nearly as bad as I remember, but the music video was just as a bad as I remember. I wonder if the song would have done better if the video was better. We didn't need another Express Yourself or Human Nature; those videos were fine as is.
The singles from 4 by beyonce did pretty well. 1+1 maybe have not been a smash hit but it still had moderate success and was only a promotional single. Run the World (Girls) and Best Thing I Never Had are both certified 4× platinum and were heavily rotated on the radio. Party is 2x platinum. Love On Top and Countdown are obviously bangers, 5x and 3x platinum respectively, and End of Time was a radio hit. All the singles are classics. The songs that weren’t released could’ve done well too. The 4 out of 12 that weren’t released. She should’ve released them all! Amazing and underrated album really.
From what we've learned from her book, and her testimony tbh just having Glory released overall is a blessing for Britney stans. But I think with reputation, I think it and lover is the weakest singles drop in Taylor's discography, I agree, that rep is a little too extreme for Taylor, but in the end she did her homework and did it well, I think she could've kept doing rep for a long time since the album is full of bangers! If I can pick the singles for rep here's what I would choose: LWYMD (It sets the tone of the album) then "I did something bad", "Don't blame me", "Getaway car" (Imagine a trilogy of videos for these 3? It would epic!), then "Dress" after that "Call it what you want", "End Game" can be the last single since it's a little poppy than most of them and it can be like a transition to the lover era ( like a video going from something dark to a lighter one theme in the end, imagine KP's wide awake kind of stuff)
"Not Myself Tonight" is a banger, but it's music video was universaly panned because it was just a cringy copy of "Bad Romance" in the most part, the remain of the video is a great homage to Madonna's "Express Yourself" and "Human Natura", but no Christina in there. Also, what would be your choices as singles from "Charmbracelet"? Saludos!
With the downfall of Christina in the Bionic era was so many factor her label not backing the promotion and conspiracy of so many media producers and artist that thing Christina was out of their hands was she do in her music
Island Life and SLo Love use to get a lot of radio play without being released as official singles. But they waited until she was about to drop 20 Y.O and people had already moved on.
U got me, the one and subtle invitation would have been better choice for singles but I believe nothing could save charmbracelt. Bionic is a skip for me. The only song that I actually like is you lost me and it's probably been more than 10 years since I last listened to it.
I think rep had one of the best rollouts ngl. It is considered by outsiders and haters as this revengeful and angry phase of her just because of the singles when in reality is much more than that. Being a living representation of how people criticize her image and music and not giving it a crap about actually getting to know her is the reason why I think she chose the best singles.
I love your vids but it feels you always name the same 5 artists... You should have named Kylie Minogue's X album which it's first single was 2 Hearts, not the best choice
I agree. Though Big Hoops is far from being a bad song (it got sampled in 2021 as Talk About and went on to crack the UK Singles top 10). However, the song "Spirit Indestructible", the 2nd single, lacked focus; the A-E-I-O-U never made sense, and her voice didn't sound great. Also, she waited SIX YEARS to release an english album since Loose.
...Ready For It?, Look What You Made Me Do and Delicate are Top 5 songs on Reputation. If not, maybe even Top 3, but since this is my favorite album of hers, #3 and below is interchangable, with first two singles being Top 2.
Glitter is a great album. The movie was corny but not that bad. She should have just made the videos tell the story of Glitter as a concept. That would have made it hit better.
I think Janet sometimes chooses songs that are a little too eclectic to be her singles. Don't get me wrong I LOVE her weirder songs, but they aren't always gonna have commercial appeal you know? It obviously doesn't help that her music was blacklisted from Viacom owned stations and channels after the Superbowl. You are so right about R&B Junkie, that song has hit single written all over it!!
I'm not even a Taylor fan, but you're definitely off and wrong about the singles chosen for that rep era. She actually gained more fans from those singles. I'd even argue they are some of her most catchiest singles from her entire body of work. Also the album bionic was never a great album lol, huge sneak right there. Nobody outside her fan base to this very day speaks well of it at all. The idea it could be legendary in any era is a very random and concerning outlook 💀
Bionic wasn’t really a great album. She was indeed chasing the trend of Electroclash but about ten years too late. Electroclash was never going to be mainstream so she was already trying to swim upstream. It was released too late and wasn’t very strong. The people she collaborated with were all very dated by then. Honestly I don’t think Christina has strong albums. I think her music always felt like throwaway songs that Britney didn’t want.
Kiss Me Once was a good album by Kylie but they released all the wrong songs as singles! Sexy Love should have been the first single! Million Miles and If Only would be better 2 and 3 singles.
Ofcourse 4 had way better songs but sometimes LYRICS and VISUALS is what makes an artist pick the lead single. Rtw was the boldest artistic statement on the album by far.
I disagree with 4 even being mentioned in this list. Beyoncé actually chose great singles for the album. The problem was that Beyoncé was banned from pop radio. Radio stations would not play any of the album. Urban Radio outperformed her pop radio by a lot. They were upset that she didn’t go down the EDM route, and radio told her they wouldn’t play “Run The World” unless she paid for it, and she refused. Plus, they felt she was oversaturated on Pop radio after the massive I Am… Sasha Fierce era. Both “Run The World” and “Best Thing I Never Had” sold well, but wouldn’t get played on radio. So they didn’t chart as well as her previous singles, or have the longevity either. “Love On Top” was released as a single, but becuase of the radio ban, she didn’t even send it to pop radio, only urban because they weren’t making her pay to get spins. “Party” was also released as a single too, but she didn’t get put on Pop radio and it was released in the fall after it picked up huge steam on urban radio. “Countdown” also was a good single choice, but had similar issues. Also, keep in mind Beyoncé got pregnant in the middle of the era and couldn’t tour the album like she originally planned.
The album was a flop, and a breaking point in her career. She was played everywhere before it, and afterwards she simply disappeared from radio stations (untill very recently). She has yet to make another massive hit like "Single Ladies".
@ do not respond to me unless you’re going to actually read. In no way was that album a flop. It sold over 300k first week despite being leaked over a month and a half in advance. The album was platinum within 2 months and was double platinum by the next year. The album produced 4 multiplatinum singles. And as I stated in my previous comment that you clearly didn’t read, Beyoncé was serving a pop radio ban because she wouldn’t pay to have 4’s singles played on radio. “Drunk in Love” was a massive hit, “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” is a massive hit. Just to name a couple. Beyoncé doesn’t even promote her music anymore and still makes hit music.
I disagree with you wholeheartedly on Reputation. Look What You Made Me Do was a great lead single. It did what it needed to do; it was polarizing as a song, but that's what got it so much attention, even from the GP. Combined with one of Taylor's best music videos, it was a sure fire hit. Ready For It did the same, but in a less strong way (but then again with 1989, Taylor also sold the same concept twice with Blank Space selling the same concept as Shake It Off, but better). I Did Something Bad could've also been the lead single, that wouldn't have changed a lot. Ready For It or Getaway Car as a lead single wouldn't have had the same impact because sonically they're too similar to 1989 (with Ready For It the chorus and Getaway Car the entire song). New Year's Day would've been the worst pick, because though lyrically it fits into one of the two "modes" Taylor is in on this album (bad bitch mode or lovey-dovey mode), sonically it's so out of place on the album and doesn't represent it at all. I know newer fans are going to say Don't Blame Me should've been a single, but that song has always been a good album track and has only recently been promoted to a fan-favorite because of Tik Tok edits, but it doesn't have anything on IDSB or Getaway Car - which both should've been singles instead of End Game (which was only chosen because of the features).
Think Seventh Son of the Seventh Son by Iron Maiden - The album is at least in my books one of the best metal albums of all time, but Can I Play With Madness is perhaps the worst single by a big metal band
I think P!nk has incredible albums but she doesnt make the best choices for singles so she doesnt get the recognition she deserves. Most people barely know about her last three albums; Trustfall, Hurts 2b Human and Beautiful Trauma and theyre great works of pop music, but poor choice of singles.
let's be honest, Janet could have released her magnum opus and still the media and radio wouldn't push her work in 2004 due to the Super Bowl incident

If I can pick the singles for rep here's what I would choose:
LWYMD (It sets the tone of the album) then "I did something bad", "Don't blame me", "Getaway car" (Imagine a trilogy of videos for these 3?
Saludos!
I liked singles from Damita Jo, especially All nite.
Maybe,
Not in my words but with Chromatica, with Stupid Love
That song is atrocious. I think Gaga is making awful dance music now.
@ Okay? Can you read the title to the video…..! That's why I put it!
I didn’t like the album but,
C xoxo with I LUV IT
With the downfall of Christina in the Bionic era was so many factor her label not backing the promotion and conspiracy of so many media producers and artist that thing Christina was out of their hands was she do in her music
I hear the cold it in your voice .... get well soon and thx for the video :)
Yes, I thought he had a blocked nose 👃
Love Myself Tonight is such a banger
Charm bracelet is superb.
The album Lover with Me!
island life and my baby should’ve been singles
Island Life and SLo Love use to get a lot of radio play without being released as official singles. But they waited until she was about to drop 20 Y.O and people had already moved on.
U got me, the one and subtle invitation would have been better choice for singles but I believe nothing could save charmbracelt.
Bionic is a skip for me. The only song that I actually like is you lost me and it's probably been more than 10 years since I last listened to it.
Beyoncé’s 4 had some really good songs that deserved more attention like “Lay Up Under Me” and “Schoolin’ Life”

Damita Jo Janet’s album is great ❤
I think rep had one of the best rollouts ngl. It is considered by outsiders and haters as this revengeful and angry phase of her just because of the singles when in reality is much more than that. Being a living representation of how people criticize her image and music and not giving it a crap about actually getting to know her is the reason why I think she chose the best singles.
Finally YOU GAVE JUSTICE TO BIONIC. GOOD JOB AND HAPPY NEW YEAR
Glory is amazing and deserved so much more.
I love your vids but it feels you always name the same 5 artists...
You should have named Kylie Minogue's X album which it's first single was 2 Hearts, not the best choice
That’s a great point. 2 Hearts is a dreadful song! That album has many other great songs!
@@taintedlife2618 thanks!!
Nelly Furtado - The Spirit Indestructible
Lead single: Big Hoops (Bigger The Better)
Better lead single choice: Waiting For The Night.
Taylor's look what you made do is a huge bop, end game shouldn't have been one
...Ready For It?, Look What You Made Me Do and Delicate are Top 5 songs on Reputation. If not, maybe even Top 3, but since this is my favorite album of hers, #3 and below is interchangable, with first two singles being Top 2.
I rebuke the inclusion of Damita Jo….the album is banging and so we’re the singles
Not in my opinion but,
Eternal Sunshine with Yes &
Beyonce - Renaissance, Lady Gaga - Joanne
Glitter is a great album. The movie was corny but not that bad. She should have just made the videos tell the story of Glitter as a concept. That would have made it hit better.
Narrator…”Christina Aguilera. Bio…” Me: “Wrong.”
Make me was a good lead if it handled better slumber party also
I love Nikes, and who cares what single Frank releases? It's always going to be about his entire project.
BIONIC by Christina Aguilera is ahead of its time
love me down as the lead>>>
I agree on Bionic. Such a great album deserved millions sold, all singles were a bad choice
That thumbnail of janet, gosh i thought that was halle bailey
It shame 😔 some songwriter are flopped 😔 😪
CHAT HE CHOSE MY SUGGESTION REPUTATION 😍😍
I'm not even a Taylor fan, but you're definitely off and wrong about the singles chosen for that rep era. She actually gained more fans from those singles. I'd even argue they are some of her most catchiest singles from her entire body of work. Also the album bionic was never a great album lol, huge sneak right there. Nobody outside her fan base to this very day speaks well of it at all. The idea it could be legendary in any era is a very random and concerning outlook 💀
Slumber Party was one of the best! Stop hating
Nikes is one of Frank's best songs.
Seriously reputation!!! Look at the streams of singles and we love all of the songs
I know newer fans are going to say Don't Blame Me should've been a single, but that song has always been a good album track and has only recently been promoted to a fan-favorite because of Tik Tok edits, but it doesn't have anything on IDSB or Getaway Car - which both should've been singles instead of End Game (which was only chosen because of the features).
reputation' is my favorite taylor swift album and none of the singles on this album are bad✨✨🤲🤲
Reputation is one of her best albums and …ready for it? is not a bad single 😡
blond shouldn't be here, I don't think Frank wanted to be mainstream
Taylor Swift "Lover": Cruel Summer instead of Mehehe
Think Seventh Son of the Seventh Son by Iron Maiden - The album is at least in my books one of the best metal albums of all time, but Can I Play With Madness is perhaps the worst single by a big metal band
Lover
I'm surprised Yummy by Justin Bieber isn't here
this video is soo wrong. It's not BAD singles
