    I've been "driving" the same Kirby since 1973 and have never had a sing problem with it yet including the attachments. I've always said that the only product more robustly built than a Kirby is an anvil.

    I don't know if I'm the only one that's ever noticed it but whenever a Kirby gets full it starts the kind of lean to one side or want to lean to one side where the bag is because it gets heavier and heavier as it fills. Eventually when you go to pull back it kind wants to lean to the right lifting part of the brush roll. I mean I love Kirby's they're pretty cool vacuums and they're very sturdy, I even have a Kirby Classic 3. I've just noticed that with my step mom's Kirby thats the same model that this guy has. when the bag is getting on the full side and I go to pull back on the cleaner it wants to kind of tip or lean to the right lifting the brushroll off the ground.

    I remember the salesman selling my parents this when I was sub 3 years old just a quick flash of memory around 2000 it's one of my earliest memories. We had that vacuum till 2018 when it broke. The on off switch finally snapped. I used to play with my lego bionicles riding the kirby back in 2002!

      Lmao, I was just remembering when my parents bought this back in 2000. A salesman went to our house and showed us all the cool tricks it could do and my dad was sold. Think he paid $2000 dollars for the whole thing. Good times.

    You are lucky that the G6 (and newer years) have the Kevlar fans in them to pick up all that junk and NOT break. (anything before a G5 has regular plastic fans that break from abuse). I've had many Kirbys over the years - I usually pick them up at thrift stores for $25 - $30. Right now I have this one and a Sentria, lol. Great vacuums!

      I think it is better than new Avalir 2. I like The bag is thiker on G6 and the light in The front is shining more on The carpet than The new style on The avalir

    love the sound of a kirby sucking up stuff, just darn sexy !! i love the vintage kirbys the best. more hose action making the bag pulsate up & down please ???

      @TheKIRBYF 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      do they still have the hard floor felt pad that you put on the carpet nozzle for the newer kirby's ? can't wait to see it in hose mode with the bag doing its thing.

    The Kirby looks like designed for a horror movie. It must be possible to build a Vacuum solid AND compact.

    • @vacuumtests9225
      @vacuumtests9225  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it sure looks aggressive and build quality is excellent.
      My Nilfisk GM80 actually is quite compact, it has a small footprint, it's made of aluminium and it's quite light. This was surprising when I first got it.

    I wonder, since my Kirby uses the new style emtor and oblique brush, and I use the hepa microallergen plus bags, would it be able to clean a big mess like this better and or faster? 🤔

    • @vacuumtests9225
      @vacuumtests9225  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have the new oblique style brushroll and hepa bag in this test. New style emtor will increase the airflow, but this rug is what I call "nightmare to clean" Dense deep pile and very demanding for the vacuum. Stiff oblique style brushroll set to level 2 would make it clean better. I have to try it.

    I am glad you are cautious when using a direct air vacuum, but I can tell you that fan is pretty tough. You can break it, but you'd have to be really abusive towards it in order to do so; they are that durable. I have only known of two or three of these newer fans to break. They are made of Polymer if I am not mistaken.

    • @vacuumtests9225
      @vacuumtests9225  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Matt Jones Nice to hear that. I am just very careful about it. But if it happens to break, new one is available from here Finland.

    • @mattjones7621
      @mattjones7621 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Vacuumtests That's good. Yes, you can get another easily. I was just letting you know it takes a lot to damage it. I have accidentally picked up paper clips, coins, staples and some gravel and never had an issue. I replace the fans after years worth of erosion, because a new fan creates better airflow ;-)

      @its-amemegatron.9521 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Matt Jones
      I think the newer ones and the ones who had their fans replaced recently are Kevlar... Which is REALLY tough.

    • @mattjones7621
      @mattjones7621 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, I had heard they were either Polymer, Kevlar or Amodel plastic. Whatever the substance, it is very, very durable. I installed one in my 519 and I accidentally picked up a small rock that I had mistaken for dog food. It didn't have any affect on it whatsoever.

      I heard one story where they sucked up several nuts and bolts to see how tough it was and it only caused a few chips on the blades!
      I guess as long as no one uses it as a shop-vac it'll be perfectly fine.

    From Sep. 1999 to Aug. 2003 there were three versions of the Gsix: the Gsix-model G6, the Limited Edition 2000 G6D, and the Limited Edition 2001 G6D. Is that correct? Does anyone know the production timeline for each (guessing that the 2000 & 2001 were Jan.-Dec. but not sure).

    So what's better bagless canister vacs or bagged uprights???

    • @vacuumtests9225
      @vacuumtests9225  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bagless canister for homes with mostly hard floors and little carpeting and bagged upright for big homes with a lot of carpeting and open rooms. Canister is more versatile in tight places. What it comes to bagless vs bagged. Bagged vacuums are more powerful. If you want to use canister vacuum for homes with lot of carpeting then you need model with the powerhead.
      If you want quality bagless canister it would be the Miele Blizzard and quality bagged upright Sebo Felix. Both are excellent vacuums.

      @@vacuumtests9225 I like the better vacuumed but hate to buy those bags all the time. I vac every day because of a few cats I have, but I go through those Wal-Mart uprights...

    • @vacuumtests9225

      @@stuartracing1 Sorry my late answer.
      Note that the bags hold a lot more dirt than the bagless bin. Just look my latest Nilfisk dirt pick up test. I picked up at least year worth of dirt and all fit to one bag easily. 5 bags cost around 10€ (11$). So even in a very big home and A LOT of dirt you can easily use one bag for a whole month. That means only 2 dollars per month. Not only that, but you don't have to keep emptying the bin (messy) and cleaning the filters. With the bagged vacuum one bag change once a month (unless you live in the white house). No mess and better performance due to the bagged system. Bagged vacuums compact the dirt.
      Quality bagged vacuum will easily last over 10 years.

      @@Boodieman72 Worth it!!!! especially when bedbugs had once been a problem. No way was I throwing out my Kirby!! It had to be banished to the garage after daily bag changes until the bugs were completely gone. I had bought this Kirby Limited G model new in 2000 when I moved into a brand new house. I no longer have the house but I still have My Kirby. I guess you could say we've been through some good times and some bad times together. I am very proud to say my Kirby is still my sweeper, and getting the bags have never been an issue for me.
