Actually Atif is not a great or versatile singer, if we define a singer in India ( Bharat) or Pakistan, the. He is not even close to be called a Singer
Urdu liguistically has been perfected over the period of 800 years to sound pleasing to the ears when spoken and specially in poetry and songs... for example ... words end with sounds like eey, o, aaa, eee, (double vowels) and words have be optimised rythymically to sound better to ears... Urdu is the most sophisticated language purpose build for poetry, singing (bottom line is build to express ones artistic creativity in most pleasing way to the listener)....
Kishmish I was explaining about evolution of Urdu poetry and music.. when you take other languages they were not as evolved with an exception to Punjabi... other languages phonetically are not as pleasing to ears with respect to classical music

Well India and Pakistan was one country till 1947 called India .. the languages Urdu and Punjabi are common to both so is the music food and culture... before 1947 the music of this land was called Hindustani music! The genre of music more towards west adjoining Punjab was Sufi and Punjabi.. Enjoy.. keep discovering !

These videos are old so maybe not the same latest Coke Studio sessions video qualities but the videos are absolutely awesome. He produced S01-S06 later left and came back for S12-13. Even thou other seasons produced by Strings are also v good. I would suggest you to listen to more of S06 as it was experimental music a fusion between Pakistani music collaboration with musicians from around the world.
