    Thank you for not putting music over it, I'd much rather hear those engines! That's what 10,000 hp sounds like!

    Whoever the guy was who waved him on,must have a recurring nightmare.
    With no tree activated,there was no race or times,
    Should have shut off,pitted and tried again.

      I’m pretty sure the guy who sent him off was his brother Angelo (spelling might be wrong for Angelo idk)

      Great news too hear.........
      I was in the grandstand to the left of the track when this horrible accident unfolded.
      He apparently sold up after this event happened, but great to hear he is now back in action again

    Two things went wrong before the run ... Starter made them wait to long burning up fuel and weight in the car ... Two ... There is a bump down at the far end ...

      the Christmas tree failed it was having problems all day the starter signaled that they can shut the cars down or do a pass the other car decided to shut it down and the Lamattina team decided t do the pass to get some extra data

    Not again😣👎. Vandergriff/Dixon car let go in similar fashion a few weeks ago in the U.S. Hopefully the cause is established and a solution found. We wish you a speedy and full recovery, Phil and thanks for keeping 1320 Top Fuel alive Down Under.

      Chris Franz that was from the Lamattina family statement
      thr stament is below
      (PHIL LAMATTINA is in ‘good spirits’ and remains in a stable condition as the medical team at Princess Alexander Hospital in Brisbane treat his injuries that include two fractured vertebras and possible damaged ribs. A further assessment is expected within the next 24 hours, according to team manager Aaron Hambridge.
      “I visited him in hospital. He is with his family and in much better shape than yesterday,” he said. “I asked him what he remembers of the crash and he said: “The car felt amazing on the run and the next thing it was flying through the air. I thought ‘oh no not again’- a reference to his similar crash at the venue in 2007 - then waking up and being surrounded by a group of officials.”
      Hambridge would not be drawn on speculation surrounding the cause of the crash.
      “The data said the car was on a possible 4.50 second pass and crashed at 466 km/h. We will take the car back to our workshop, pull it apart and call in a metallurgist. The chassis builder Murf McKinney offered to fly from America to help with the investigation but we told him that was probably not necessary. There is the possibility that once we pull it apart and strip in down we could send it to ‘Murf.’ It wasn’t a weld failure, every single weld on the car is intact but the chassis tubes are broken and they are not made by McKinney.”
      According to sources the investigation will focus on the thickness of the chassis wall.)

    Dragsters,,, all the b/s about safety yest the chassis break in half when being used as intended. Regularly. And Lamatina has been through it again when another chassis did the same thing.

  • @xeyed621
    @xeyed621 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    He should have shut it down. He burned way too much fuel.

    • @howabouthetruth2157
      @howabouthetruth2157 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      xeyed621 You don't know what the fuck your talking about. Those motors don't suck 1/50th of the fuel at idle as they do when they hammer the throttle down. And a couple gallons of fuel light, had nothing to do with the fucking frame snapping in two. As many times as they've ran these cars, it's fucking obvious that particular chassis had structural defects to begin with, before they even rolled it out of the tractor trailer. Stick with analyzing hamsters & bunny rabbits, because you damn sure don't know a fuckin' thing about top fuel.

    • @xeyed621
      @xeyed621 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow you are one angry fucking douche bag that don't know shit about top fuel. These cars have a set time frame to run. If you paid attention you little troll, the guy in the other lane shut off. These cars suck down a lot of fuel at idle. Not as much during the run but enough to take the weight off the front of the car. That disrupts the balance and weight distribution at launch and going down the track. It is very possible that could be a contributing factor for his crash.
