Thank you, Ted, for ANOTHER AWESOME INTERVIEW!!! Ashling seems like a very cool person, who I'm not familiar with, provided some great insights, and I will be doing some research on her! I FORGOT I SAW ASHLING ON SUNDAY BEST!!!! MY BAD!! SHE CAN SANG!!!!! Anyone who can grab Prince's attention is a big deal! Larry Graham is on my Mount Rushmore and is EASILY one of the most influential bassists in history. He transformed bass like Wes Montgomery transformed guitar, changing how their instruments were played, heard, recorded, and mixed! Uriah is one of the most versatile and skilled bassists on earth!
Nice video. She gave some good over all advice- very practical. However I was hoping for more specifics in terms of playing advice- such as fills, transitions, different types of rhythms etc.
I am a guitar player, and I have played with some terrible Bass players over the years. They approach bass playing like is is a guitar. They don't understand that a bass is it's own instrument, and has to be played differently. They don't get that they are there in a mostly supporting role, and not just to ammuse themselves. The have no sense of groove, or how important a bass is to the music, Simply put, they simply just don't care. You can't imagine how hard it is to build, on top of a crumbling foundation.
