Please do a video on the “no mom” and how you manage it pls. I feel like I’m constantly saying no and losing my patience. You’re so open and honest I’d love to hear from you about this
We read an article about making yes spaces in the house and it worked great for us. Anything we didn't want him getting into was kept out of reach or in rooms he didn't go into. The first 2-3 years that made us make some funny choices, like the kitchen trash can going on the other side of the baby gate by the den, but it meant we could get to it, he could even help throw his own diapers away, but he couldn't pull everything out like he wanted to do. Little things like that. The yes spaces were the living room amd the the kitchen. We used doors and babygates to cordon the other areas off and as he got older he got access to more areas as he was ready for them. The idea behind it is when you say no 50 thousand times a day, it looses its meaning and sets a negative tone for the baseline in the child's home. Creating safe "yes" spaces changes that and gives them the freedom to be creative and explore in a space you know is safe for them to do so. He still made plenty of messes to clean up, like the pots and pans he played with literally every day for 2 years. But they couldn't hurt him. And we slowly worked on him cleaning up at the end of the day before dinner. We made it a hard and fast rule and adjusted how much he had to clean up himself based on where he was at in that point in time. We constant heard from friends, families and strangers in stores how happy he looked. And he is a very happy kid most of the time. I really think the dedication to making yes spaces made that possible. And now he has access to almost everything in the house (excluding markers unless supervised) and he treats everything with respect and cleans up everything himself nearly every day with no fuss.
As a kindergarten teacher: Free play is essential for a child's development! Since English isn't my first language I can't really explain in the right words why but socially, emotionally, creativity wise it's so so important. So you're not lazy! You're giving your kids their own opportunity to learn and in the same moment giving yourself a moment to breathe You're rocking mommying!💪🏼💪🏼
I’m with you on letting the kids come up with their own activities! If I hear “im bored” I say oh I guess we don’t need all these toys cluttering up my house! And suddenly they find lots to do 😅😂
Good morning! Such a nice vlog! Sometimes a little disappointment is good. The lesson of getting through it is valuable. You all had a great day. A little down time is good for creativity, just like you said. Great school discussion! I just put a hold on "Over and Under the Pond" at our library. My 8 year old LOVES animals and science. Great finale with Oompa Loompa song! ❤
Zoobooks! My grandma used to have a stash of those from my uncle (‘83 baby) and my siblings and I would read them when we were at her house. There was a whole infomercial about them!
How do you organize yourself with cleaning it’s a struggle for me. Have so many things to do and even wondered if I should hire someone to come clean. What is your process?
Thanks for the book recommendations! My daughter is 7 and we’re loving new book series. I bought my daughter the Yoto Mini for her birthday in September. I think Riley has one right? If so, do you guys still use it? Would love to know your thoughts on the Yoto and cards you have/like 😊
Your kids are so creative! My two kids just pretend play together mostly but Rylee makes stuff! Today they got slime all over the carpet 🙈 just make sure not to leave the snails in there since It’s not a real habitat for them with food and water, I’m sure you won’t. Haha that short clip of Sean was a funny comedy of mom’s life with a baby, lol! Was they video game set the new playground game system?
You are a great mom!! I’d just be mindful to speak positively only when it comes to their food habits. Labelling a kid as a picky eater often doesn’t aid in anything getting better
I love your mentality of letting the kids figure out how to entertain themselves! This is important to me with my son as well. I’ve seen first hand the effects of kids being raised the opposite way. It isn’t pretty haha
I just made "money" and kids set up their store (they put things on stools/table/floor). No need for extra toys, they really don't need it. They both have a little bag/wallet where the money goes.
Those mops are great but it’s gets expensive having to buy the solution constantly. If you boil the bottle for a few minutes the top will come off and u can out ur own solution in it . 😉
Love your videos!! We definitely have a lot in common. We do not live in the same state as you but I think the co op and home school community you've found in Florida is great. How did you find the group? I have very similar beliefs and values but I'm christian. I would love to join a homeschool group like yours.
I just found a website called underthehome and they have a full yesr cirriculum for Art history for geades up to 5th! Its what we plan on using for 1st grade this year

I second this!! I’m ok with making messes, but if my kids had access to everything, I would die.
