    Another excellent MacWhisperer production. Unfortunately, Pages doesn’t seem to have a readability feature. That lack of in-app readability feature is a deal breaker that keeps me chained to Word. Word easily checks and rechecks for a suitable readability score, without having to export itself to third party apps.

      Good to know! 😃 That's not something I've ever used, so I haven't explored it. 🤔 No one is saying that Pages is the perfect app for everyone, just that there are options beyond Microsoft. 💻✨ Thanks for your input! 🙏

    Thanks again for lots of good information. I had to watch on the rerun (sorry football day). I liked that you highlighted where you were on the page. I am getting it, and I will continue to tune in. What a great teacher you are TKU M

    Funny this came up on my feed today. For the past 6 months I have been working hard to make the transition from windows 11 to IOS. I purchased a new Mac Mini about six weeks ago. Just today I deleted off my Mini both Excel and word.
    Hopefully I will never look back. I also removed internet access to the windows machine so that it will remain as it is now.
    Thanks for the tutorial on pages. I have not spent a lot of time on pages yet. Been working hard to get myself trained on numbers.

    I thoroughly enjoyed your live Thursday broadcast on Pages last week (9th January) it’s a really really good app which I’ve been using ever since Apple  first brought it out. I just wish Notes had some of the features that Pages has, like the ability to use coloured text for titles and main body text instead of the mundane black.
    Now one of my objectives in my CPR 2025 is to use MS Word even less and hopefully by the end of this year I can cancel my Office 365 subscription altogether. I learnt so much from this video and from the live broadcast which I will implement into my future Pages documents, so thank you hugely. Dylan, can I please make one request… Can you please do a live broadcast on the Apple  Numbers app please?

    My partner and I produce our (usually) 44 page local magazine using Pages and it’s superb. We collaborate - him on MacBook and me on my iPad Pro. We’ve got tables mixed with photos and PDFs in there, formulas in the tables that automatically updates the years for which magazine has been around (126 years and counting!) It’s got a lot of features we don’t often use but even so it’s excellent and powerful. And comes with every Apple OS. What’s not to love?

      That's what I love to hear! 🎉 Sounds like a perfect and great use of the app! 📱
      I'm sure you've got some tips to teach the rest of us... 🤔 Care to share? 😊

    I love all your videos, they’re very educational. Do you have a video on how to properly delete an app (program) on a MacBook? Can you point me in the right direction. Thank you and keep the great job.

      So here's the crazy part... Essentially, all you need to do is take the application and put it in the trash. 🗑️
      True, it can leave some remnants behind. 🧩 There are many third-party apps that can help with that, like CleanMyMac, or AppZapper. 🧹
      But for all intents and purposes, simply dragging it to the trash and deleting it will take care of 99% of uninstalling it. 💻

      They have continuously improved it, making it work seamlessly across all devices. 📱💻

    I dumped MS Word and Excel a few years ago and switched to Pages and Numbers. The only question I ask myself is why didn't I do it sooner?

    MS demanding I pay another licence fee to “renew” a “ perpetual” licence for MS Office that I bought 5 years ago. Changing to Pages.

    • @TheMacWhisperer
      @TheMacWhisperer  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There is really no such thing as a perpetual license for Microsoft Office anymore. If they sold you a perpetual license, what they mean is a license that won't be updated and will be out of date very quickly even though you won't get charged more. They are prompting you to renew because it is essential to keep the software current... as long as you stay on their merry-go-round.
      Signing off now and heading over to Pages will most likely solve that issue.
      Thanks for watching!

      @ is what’s known as misleading advertising in my country. I only stuck with Office because it’s what I was trained in and used for work. Pages seems to be superior in functionality so it’s what I’ll use henceforth. Thanks again.

    I’d be grateful for some advice on Pages formatting for my Chinese translations.
    For each line of Chinese characters I include the pinyin ( phonetic) text in one shade of grey above the Chinese characters, with the English translation below the characters in a lighter grey.
    I can’t show you an example here because TH-cam automatically reverts all text to black, a uniform size and sets left.
    It would make life easier if I could set the Pages document to always write the pinyin text in one shade and size, the characters in black in a bigger text size, and the translations in another size and shade!
    At the moment I do this manually:
    hóng yàn
    《鸿雁》
    Swan Goose
    hóng yàn tiān kōng shàng
    鸿雁, 天空上
    Swan geese, high in the sky
    duì duì pái chéng háng
    对对排成行
    Flying in formation ………………………………

    Sometimes I have a problem when I open a Word document in Pages: the writing style or font type is unknown (e.g., MS fonts). Do you know how to solve this problem?

    Does not work with my citation manager.

    • @TheMacWhisperer
      @TheMacWhisperer  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I'm sure that's frustrating and annoying. 😤 There are some circumstances or businesses that rely on Microsoft, and citation managers are unfortunately one of them. 📊
      Sorry to hear about it, but hopefully, you've figured out how to use Microsoft and make it work for you. 💻✨

    • @tonylominac8648
      @tonylominac8648 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Unfortunately, without the use of citation managers, it pretty much renders Pages useless for college papers. I think you can use end note but it is very expensive. Forces Mac users to use Word or Google Drive.

    If you are one of the millions of students or employees that has to interact with MS Office on a daily basis, watch the video (it’s cool) but don’t fool yourself. You cannot ditch MS Office.
