your love for your work, positive attitude, the way tackling for the righteous amazed me. and beautiful vocabulary, show of how a simple work entangled in a nonstop wicked mumble brought me to tears. thanks for being a love bug.

This video made me giggle.😆. To share a funny story, a customer bought one of these and came into the shop waving his arms about proclaiming how much this dac had improved his cd player and that I must visit for a listen. I obliged, and whilst he was making tea I took a peek at how he'd connected it. He'd connected the digital out of his Marantz CD63 to the dac, but still had the analogue outs to his amp connected to the Marantz, so he wasn't hearing the DAC at all! Massive improvement! LOL. Audiofools eh? I'll write a book on all this one day. 🙂

Not sure what's worse, the smell of bad caps or the stench of snake oil. If anything I'm surprised they didn't pot the whole thing in epoxy to keep all the sound quality from escaping. Nicely done as always!

Crikey, Doz! Just shows you a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!
Most entertaining to watch and listen this video.... You were definitely miffed, there!
As ever, keep up the good work :)
    All the best

Wow! Audio Alchemy so wouldn’t have been cheap in the first place and then probably loads spent on the “upgrades” 😂
Personally I would fit one of the switchmode 78xx drop in replacements. That would be devisive though - imagine introducing HF noise when using the optical input….

Another great repair. That poor regulator didn't stand a chance with a crossover cap in place of a sensible value electrolytic. Those snake oil audiofools are a crazy bunch.

That first cap looked to be a Panasonic FC. Quite surprised to see one of those spill its guts, especially in a low-tress circuit like this.

Because of the snake oil mods, that regulator was cooking. This thing was a low bake oven from that moment forward. I'm surprised more hadn't failed.

I would say quite a bit rectification work we see is by bogder blue-it specials, this one is quite thame, but the video illistrates the non competency of said fellow's ' upgrades' nice little units actually, have a few of them Andy
