I've only ever been to 1 other resort in Maldives (Vilamendhoo, 13 years ago), so don't have much to compare it against. But, when we were there, water was lovely and clear and 28c. The coral isn't the best, i.e. not colourful. But, there is plenty to see and you can go pretty far out and the water isn't deep. I was in the water 2 or 3 times a day and always saw things of interest. Some people saw small sharks, but I missed out on those.
