Just started hearing Mary Duff and Daniel O'Donnell sing for the first time, last year 2020 on PBS in America. We love to hear them sing together or solo. Now everyday, we listen to them on our mobile phones. Beautiful Voices.
There's no doubt Mary Duff has a beautiful voice. Her singing of Dark Island is the very best I've ever heard.But she's ruined this song for herself by over-emphasis on the sliding triple notes on "again", trying too hard to improve on Nana Mouskouri it seems.The volume also rises and falls too much when she does it, and it comes out a trifle harsh. Too much of a good thing, I'm afraid. Another MD recording keeping her voice more under control would do the trick, I'm sure.
