The Micro Coordination of Raid buffs and items back then goes under appreciated as well. It's tough to say which was a harder fight pre 3.0 but I'm sure this one is way up there.
Probably the hardest boss I've had to heal. You could wipe if the execution was just one second off. Other than solo healing Sartharion 3-drakes (yes it was hard) in Naxx gear, this was probably the most challenging thing I've healed in all World of Warcraft. Brutallus was pure hardcore damage, but you could easily predict how much he was going to hit before he hit so you could time your heals beforehand. Although there are tons of things current WoW does best, I miss this World of Warcraft dearly.
M'uru is to this day the hardest boss I ever encountered and i've done a lot of mythic raiding since. I was in a top 100 guild and we wiped for 5 days a week for hours and like a month. I was Rsham and felt like I was behind the entire time
@dbotroniclol1 The dudes right, fights now (atleast on heroic) are far more complex in terms of mechanics, and requirements (due to the increase in difficulty of rotations etc).
same here but 4 day 4 hour. little more.. still, same rush. I was mt so the most memorable thing was the amount of stoneshield potions we went through.. So crazy!!!!!
Yeah this was a bad ass fight and definitely put guilds to the test. Took my old guild a month to finally kill M'uru. Felt awesome to do so. Great raid instance, no normal/heroic/mythic crap, just... hard.
Badass? Was boring as fuck. The test was do you have enough Resto shamans to outheal the aoe damage? It was just a tedious add fight that had requirements of Priests for Mass Dispel and Mages for sheeping the endless boring fucking add waves. Nothing else. You're either talking bollocks through rose tinted glasses or never did it.
@@HorusHeresy1982 Badass to say you even hit phase 2 pre nerf I'm guessing. I agree as a healer the fight was tedious. Funny thing is I still have nightmares of not being able to keep people up during phase two. And its been what 12-13 years since I did this fight lmao. I know its pathetic I dream about a game. Still Muru was no joke.
@Jerryffs You're talking about a hunter's role in the fight which was very easy in this fight which I can say from experience. The fight was very healing intensive in the second phase, the first phase of the fight all you had to do was kill the adds and get M'uru into the next phase. I'm probably assuming you started playing in Cata getting free gear for easy bosses.
I did Both Rag H and this boss in their time. We farmed Rag after we killed him, but this boss...I had to take a break from raiding because it was too fucking much
This boss along with Anub'arak in TogC 25 and LichKing 25 man HC is the hardest bosses I know of, M'uru wasn't even ment to be killed this early. Sk.gaming played insane to kill it this early.. It's been calculated afterwards that M'urur wasn't supposed to be killable during the patch sk did it, it's like doing something impossible. You can't really do it and still they managed to do so in some way :)
Same here. That's even what we said attempting Muru. I was apart of our guilds officer and our Leader said after a night of attempts. "It's like fucking Patchwreck all over again". The experience from Patch actually helped us take down Muru and keep the guild intact. Healing during the Muru encounter still gives me nightmares. I should of re rolled shaman during Sunwell.
In a way C'thun killed our guild, but... not in the way you might expect. We were actually the only guild on the server that could kill him reliably (another guild got the server first, but they never killed him again), and we were on a real high. But then we moved on to Naxx 40, and due to several issues we didn't progress very quickly at all. Because we thought we were awesome, we found this frustrating, and most of our better members left for that other guild that got the first C'thun kill. It actually worked out okay, because BC came not long after and dropped the raid size to 25. Hmm, good times. EDIT: Oh, on topic though, M'uru was probably the biggest guild killer, in that it killed some of the biggest guilds. Personally I'm just proud to have attempted it pre-nerf, even if I never saw it die.
Pretty sure for this video, they were forced to have everyone run LW for Drums use off CD. The upgraded blue drums too. Don't think tinnitus is even a thing back then lol.
anyone know what that buff their raid has in this video, its a white icon with what looks like a cluster of white ovals? The buff is between the hunters Arcane Int. and his Mark of the Wild buff icons. plz its killing me
Doesn't everyone do that during intense progression? Especially when killing the boss is all reliant on paying attention and doing mechanics/etc. It's extremely distracting, makes people act moronic.
@@TheBucketSkill I think most people use it now, parsing is all that matters. Back then it was actually hurting pc performance. I specifically remember back in Ulduar for instance, Recount would send so much data it would make some of our players disconnect. I think a smart play would be to have it hide during combat. It's still a useful tool to compare your performance from pull to pull.
@@iyaramonk Parsing can only happen if you kill the boss though, suprisingly T5 pre-nerf in tbc classic had people beat. Not everyone but lot of casual guilds. Vashj for example.
The challenge brought you closer to your riad members and the game had motive. these days, your raid mates are just people you see and talk to once a week, since it takes like 3 hours to finish a raid now.
such a great kill, makes me realize how old i am, but raid bosses these days compared to M'uru are a joke, well maybe the Fallen Avatar was like on par.
People who try and say any fight even compares to how hard M'uru actually was pre nerf probably never fought him during BC. Most hardcore guilds did upwards of 200 attempts to even get into phase 2. Then it was learning how burn him down before you get burned.
Wow, this boss required this perfect comp, three priests so not one mass dispel is missed, three mages for sheeping and damage, and the paladins and shammys for utility/control/best tanks. Yes I beat him. He was a guildbreaker for the above reasons. When the boss requires 15+ raid slots to be certain classes.
you know they didnt quite often nerfed him. there was one big 30% nerf at the end of bc. but before that they didnt rly nerf him they just fixed him, because like nearly all bc endboss he was fucking bugged as hell.
karsteny0 Yeah but they didn't know what was causing the platform reset, they had teams assigned to kill the Val'kyr's and Blizzard could see they were killing them. They didn't know it was the bombs that were causing the edge to respawn, how could they? It was a stupid bug and it was Blizzards responsibility, not there's to bug test for that shit.
I'm not sure, I could be wrong with what those UI frames is, but who you place as main tank targets is chosen by the raidleader, maybe they're there for some reasons in previous fights or something.
nah it wouldnt be. This fight had no major mechanics except the dispell mechanic. also not many guilds are running more than 2 tanks anymore. alts maybe incase the main tank gets sick btu thats it. also muru would be considerably harder/easier . First of all, many guilds would down him faster because there is MUCH more AOE then back then in this game (warlocks for example back then had no usefull AoE, which is why they stayed@ boss) , and 2ndly , there are no drums anymore so that could make it harder. Who knows. The fact that 8/11 classes can cast while moving doesnt make it harder either because the throw mechanic doesnt affect you in any way shape or form. Muru nowadays couldnt work thats the problem, and to be honest,t his aids of an boss shouldnt work ever again and i am glad hes gone. I am not sure if you ever downed him but please remind yourself of how boring he actually was if you did.
Secret Level Aftermath I'm not sure of these major mechanics you speak of, but what I do remember is spreading DPS 4 different ways, and all DPS having to learn an entirely new profession (leatherworking) to keep drums up at all times. If any of the split DPS/healing/tank teams failed, it was a wipe. Also, if you reached phase two, it was still a crapshoot because the dps race was intense. Only a small percentage of guilds killed this boss before he got nerfed.
Vince101276 like me? Anyway, spreading DPS isnt hard, warlocks go muru, swap to void, hunter and mages go temple entrance, rest (melees in particular) go temple exit. You needed 8 warlocks, thats what we run to skill an new proffesion isnt quite something that makes the boss hard but tedious wouldnt you agree? The DPS race was pretty intense but a dps race really just ment that youre either mastering your class because you can pull wicked numbers or you wait 2-3 months for the gear. i mean i see your point. But keeping up drums, splitting your dps etc., thats a rotation you invent in your first 20 trys, after that hte boss is a one trick pony. just entropius is hard if you forget to move . because then you die even faster. but because my guiuld wasnt actually fucking stupid we kinda downed him fast. i believe world top 150? not the best, but sure as hell not bad. ( i played in Stick N loot back then, guild doesnt exist anymore since wotlk though)
Secret Level Aftermath It was pretty hard to down your adds at the right time and the spell push back on negative energy was very difficult. (It was eventually taken away) One thing as well was the fight was a control and then dps race switch very quickly, no gradual phase switch or anything it just went whether your add teams were ready or not. It was a difficult timer to master and get every time where you can be efficient and get as much time as possible for your dps on the boss. I will not take anything away from this encounter and compare it. Health was different, classes were different, the amount of movement allowed with max dps. It sucked to have to stack classes, it might not have as many flashy mechanics. I still hold it as one of the hardest encounters faced for me. Raided Vanilla (didn't clear all content was still a noob ^^), BC, WotlK and Cata, but not MoP. I would easily put it in top 5 most satisfying kills of my time playing WoW.
Satisfying yes. Hard encounter, yea okay, balanced / correctly tuned encounter? Fuck no. It was just not tuned correctly that is really all. I think however compared to heroics hes kinda weak, like compare him to raggi HC; to LK HC, ulduar hardmodes, lei shen HC and Siegecrafter HC and he becomes bring. never said he was boring back then, just saying that in retrospective hes freaking boring.
*Not nearly as intensive as Yogg+0, and yeah I did both fights pre-nerf!* Yogg+0 was so unforgiving in terms of individual and group responsability, Sunwell plateau was all about shamans and locks!
@@Excentrix54 Dude, I did and we gave up on Muru. Yogg on the other hand, even with the adjustment required soo much more coordination as a group while M'uru was more raw Dps + timing in phase 2 perfectly. If your transition was off, you just wipe. And that's what we did after a while, bad transition => auto wipe.
TBH on the one of interviews they (SK GAMING) didnt add voice from TS/ventrillo because that was part of not sharing their tactics how they beat up the boss

Anyway, spreading DPS isnt hard, warlocks go muru, swap to void, hunter and mages go temple entrance, rest (melees in particular) go temple exit.
You needed 8 warlocks, thats what we run
to skill an new proffesion isnt quite something that makes the boss hard but tedious wouldnt you agree?
I think however compared to heroics hes kinda weak, like compare him to raggi HC; to LK HC, ulduar hardmodes, lei shen HC and Siegecrafter HC and he becomes bring.
never said he was boring back then, just saying that in retrospective hes freaking boring.
did they kill him without any nerf?
NOSTALGIAAAAAA
Блин ребята, как я фанател от ваших роликов и нихилумов, будучи играя на долбаной пиратке, спасибо. что оставили свой вслед в истоии ВоВ.
Chain heal spam..
No nerd screams top this one
What is that post called we put your one arm long at the end
Hardest boss battle l’ve done. Love this boss
...back when class stacking was everything
Jaina *cough*
Do you know how many times they nerfed Kiljaden
Shaman not hit capped ?
Still one of the best movie in Wow
amazing
*Not nearly as intensive as Yogg+0, and yeah I did both fights pre-nerf!*
Yogg+0 was so unforgiving in terms of individual and group responsability, Sunwell plateau was all about shamans and locks!
You clearly didn't do him pre-nerf
@@Excentrix54 Dude, I did and we gave up on Muru. Yogg on the other hand, even with the adjustment required soo much more coordination as a group while M'uru was more raw Dps + timing in phase 2 perfectly. If your transition was off, you just wipe. And that's what we did after a while, bad transition => auto wipe.
Has retail ever replicated anything similar in terms of extreme raiding and satisfaction you get from completing it ?
has extreme sheeping of classic made you braindead
should all C'thun there too, especially before the fix xD
므우루 보러옴 2023년
Real deal shit right here
May I ask why they didnt use buffs like the Onyxia headbuff or the Zandalar buffs giiving +15% health flat? Were the disabled in TBC?
it lasts for 2 hours and they have most likely wiped for many many hours before killing it.
eLmasten
I actually found the answer randomly. Vanilla buffs were disabled for TBC content. :)
2021🔥
@baardock go and look at rag hc:D
thats not true. for most top guilds rag hc or lich king 25 hc was the hardest encounter (prenerf)
wrong. Yogg+0 > all.
Ah.. back when raids were challenging. Good times
TheOneAndOnly lol.
I wish that "world's first" videos had commentary instead of thrid party music
Different times on the internet. Everything now has shout-casting, but years ago, everything had music.
TBH on the one of interviews they (SK GAMING) didnt add voice from TS/ventrillo because that was part of not sharing their tactics how they beat up the boss
a well edited world first kill is far more entertaining than any commentary... its not a guide after all, its a bragging right.
Paragon has made one of the absolute best kill videos back when they still raided.
what in the fuck are the lyrics to the first song. lmfao.
This was one of the most difficult bosses ever, everything that came after/before this, was easy.
YES!
M'uru the guild destroyer...
he fuck up my guild
😑
epic kill
