Thanks for this video. Been humming and arring for weeks trying to decide if it would be a good idea. Seen a few horror shows done with rollers but yours looks great. I think the mixing ratio is key if you don’t want a heavy texture like me. I do think I will go for good quality foam rollers though on my moho. Thanks again.👍
I used the smoother foam roller to fill in a few harder to reach spots and then went over again with the rougher foam roller later. The texture of the roller determines the texture of the finished product. You can experiment to see what finish you prefer.
That's right John. It does mean that you have to do some prep work for the second day of painting again like roughing up the previous paint layer with a 3M scour pad for the new paint to stick better, cleaning de waxing and masking.
Very happy i came across your video, i have decided to use Raptor over the fibreglass front section of my Avan camper using a roller. I have been putting it off because once you commit there is no turning back :-) However your video has given me a good indication of how to go about it. Big fear is it will peel off however using the adhesion promoter should do the trick. How has your van held up with the coating over time ? Thanks, Glen.
Thanks for watching the video. There is no sign of the Raptor peeling anywhere and adhesion is not an issue. More of an issue is that rock impacks can cause chips in the Raptor paint work. Another of my videos shows how we made fibreglass stone guards to protect the front of the camper trailer. We have since travelled to the tip of Cape York which included around 1500 km of dirt road. The fibreglass did a great job of protecting the paint. What i did notice hovever is that stones chipped the Raptor in a few spots where it was unprotected. The paint on the sides of the camper is unprotected and did not show signs of chipping. Hope this is useful.
Finally a video that show the right way to roll on Rapture Liner paint. I am now confident I can do this myself! Thank You!
Thank you for the feedback. Glad it was helpful!
Did you do it??
Excellent post, thank you for sharing.

Glad you found it useful. Have fun with your project.
I noticed you changed from the “coarse” finish roller to the smooth foam one. Any reason for that?

Looks great! How's it hold up? I love the color combo. I want to do my bottom end on my truck and the wheel wells.
That looks awesome! Do you have the tint colour code for the grey / silver tint? Ethan from Perth
Glad you like it. The colour code for the tint is "Wanda Colormap 473C1". Wanda is a brand of automotive paint products.
Did you achieve a unique surface? Or do you have "shades"? Hard to tell from pictures only. Thank you!
The surface is quite even and without shades.
@@Dustydetours Thanks for your reply! :)
Do you feel like this would be too rough feeling for a boat deck?
It should be fine for a boat deck with the texture providing a bit of grip under foot.
So you did coats 1 and 2 the first day and a 3rd/4th coat on a second day?
That's right John. It does mean that you have to do some prep work for the second day of painting again like roughing up the previous paint layer with a 3M scour pad for the new paint to stick better, cleaning de waxing and masking.
