Ableton users b like - bruh scrolling is so easy, just plug the alternator into the diaphragm and put it on 'boot looper ver. 2' with numerical coefficients that use the "a", "b", and "c" from "ax2 + bx + c", where "a", "b", and "c" are just apart of the hippocampus.
LOL
that's how I feel trying to route a track in FL lol
totally inaccurate, you forgot the flux capacitor for "80's" music plugin.
@@Biffcutwtright bruh you just have to click
@@Biffcutwtrightsame!
Watching this as an Ableton user and he's actually giving some valid criticism
Oh like be less annoying so I don't make mistakes 😂😂
Delay compensation is a bad issue in ableton.
@@Chiimarefr, i was loving ableton when i switched for a month. BUT DAMN THAT SHIT LOWKEY A DEAL-BREAKER
@@elliott7268keyword "some"
@@Chiimarewhat is delay compensation?
You should set up a stream where Bishu teaches you Ableton and you teach him FL, and chat decides who the better teacher is
I'd watch this!!
@@thetragicalgamer to be fair, I’d watch everything Nate 😅
THIS!
That’s a great idea ngl
I would love to watch this. It would be legendary.

Now thats better
I'm going to use this video to learn ableton
Edit: this did not fucking help
...please don't
that's a joke right? 😟
God bless

bruh lol
LMFAOOOOOOOO
The equivalent of Ctrl+D in FL is Ctrl+B for Buplicate
i always thought of it as b for beside
@@AiresLA ah, right.
🅱️uplicate
bruh FL should get keyboard shortcuts customizing
8:56 CTRL+Y is literally the default Windows redo key for anyone wondering
This is true, but a lot of programs still insist on doing something different, like Blender for instance uses CTRL + Shift + Z to undo. That's a very common combo for redoing an action. MacOS uses Command Shift Z for redo for instance which is basically the same thing.
no it's not lmao it's ctrl + z
@@zaketenyu1932 CTRL Z is undo dingus. CTRL Y is redo
@@thunderbolt10031 kinda funny in FL ctrl Z is both undo and redo, so fun! Oh, what's that, you want to press ctrl Z again to go further back, why that's redo of course, to undo multiple things is ctrl alt z, so fun.
@@georgerosebush9754yeah at least you can change that in settings
This is so funny. I used FL for YEARS before switching to Ableton. Now I feel as lost using FL as Nate does with Live.
same...i couldn't imagine going back to FL....it looks so complicated
ableton was a confusing complicated mess for me until one day it just randomly 'clicked' and I was like "..... why did I ever use FL, this works so much better for me"@@BlackinVegas
same. haha.
What made u switch?
the fruity interface is slow as hell@@neffix6976
As a fellow FL studio user, I feel your frustrations with Ableton 😂 shit had me confused for hours and all I was able to do was make a pattern
Totally agree I used both Free Versions to see what I wanted for a DAW and FL Feels more intuitive then Abelton
Bro FL had me confused for hours
I bought a launchpad and it came with ableton. Hated it.
i tried ableton a few times and i just fucking couldnt with that piano roll
Looking at abletons UI gives me the same stress as when you're walking home from school and you know the principal called your parents.
Looking at Ableton makes me feel like It's Christmas morning.
Ableton look ugly as freak
Me looking at FL's UI after using Logic.....
Ableton UI is so pretty tf you talkin
as an ableton user, i agree on that. words are just so small.
As an Ableton Live user, watching people get very confused with it is quite amusing
I felt like him about 6 years ago when I just started with Ableton. But now it is really entertaining to see how FL logic doesn't allow him to percept different mechanisms of dealing with a DAW.
@@brussbenner957Yeah that is very interesting to see.
@@DJPastaYaYi use both, fl is better tbh, except for stacking 23 effects in 2 minutes for one sound, i only use it to sound design faster
2:34 what you showed is totally possible in the cheap version of ableton. Audio slicing is an automatic transient detection system that will separate your sample in segments. I've never used this feature tbh
I might add that buying this version if you don't have the money for the standard edition is totally worth it. The only notable downsides are :
-16 tracks only, but with the infinite grouping system in each track you can have all your fx and drums in 1 track, and all your synth in 1 track too. And if you still need more, you can always create another project file!
- you will have a small portion of ableton's stock plugins, which is a bit disapointing because you won't have access to a lot of godlike plugins that come with the other versions of Ableton. But honestly you can find free 3rd party plugins that will do the job
@@Fascry_personally i think ableton is only worht it for the plugins, there are other, cheaper daws that are fully featured like reaper and the rest of the plugins u need u can get online for free
As an Abelton user, The scroll bar is absolutely Horrible, you describing it as feeling like it's on an ice rink is way to accurate, I never use it because everytime I do I get flung into another dimension.
Yeah it's all about shift and ctrl scroll. That should be the first thing mentioned in any tutorial.
that thing at the top of the arrangement view is so basically useless, I couldn't agree more
Are you kidding me? Just program your own Max for Live plugin for smooth scrolling, it's so easy, then make one for zooming, and copy pasting and...
wait its literally better than fl's, hello?
Nate, ctrl+D is a feature in FL studio, if you mean just duplicating something and placing it right in front then in FL it would be "Ctrl + B"
Nate doesn't know about Ctrl b???
thats bublicate
12:34 - Well duh, B is for Bencil.
🤣🤣🤣
🅱️🅱️🅱️encil
It's a brush though, but still funny. :D
"I remember this, this is traumatizing to look at"
- Me re-visiting every daw
The ableton interface looks like someone went ham with the colours on an excel project
It'd be fun if you and Bishu did a stream where he teaches you Ableton and you teach him FL
I need to see this!
Watching this as an abelton user made me want to yell at the screen, still funny though

as an FL user I now know why I love lifetime updates
@@CRAETION_ No amount of updates will ever be able to save FL. I know, I started with that shit.
Facts 😂
Me: How do i turn up the master?
Ableton: What is 437 divided by a penguin?
A squeaky shoe, duh.
@@MrNikolidas It's so obvious now I know the answer
Get yourself a trackpad as a secondary mouse input, it makes scrolling and pinching to zoom feel like magic
better yet, Live Enhancement Suite is free
I produce on a laptop that I usually keep on the left side and use the touchpad for these gestures. Incredible and can be transferred to other software than daws
or just hold ctrl + alt then drag around, and ctrl + scroll wheel to zoom in and out
I was showing my FL-user friend a Live project file one day, double clicked to throw in an EQ and he went "holy shit that was so easy ableton is amazing", and all I could be like was like "Yes, but no"@@twgt666
did the same here
So stoked about your flatline remix! I discovered Frost Children this last summer and I love their music! They're super creative, so I was really excited when I woke up today and spotify notified me that there was a new Frost Children remix by Eliminate and I was like WHAAAAT?? Goes hard bro, goes hard
Ctrl Z/Y is the standard undo/redo across windows though. For scrolling you gotta learn shift scroll for horizontal and ctrl scroll for in out, I struggled with dragging the little window for ages before I figured that out. Navigating becomes a breeze instead of a chore.
Some of your best work yet
hell yes, as an Ableton user, this is amazing and I've been waiting for another one since you released the last video
I still remember the beautiful quote “I just wanna right click & have it disappear from my life, but that doesn’t work here” from last time😂
Right click for delete is the worst idea ever. Delete button is the best way
@@user-mv8vc3zt1y what else you gonna put on right click, yet another menu?
If you accidentally deleted by right click FL Studio has a feature to undo and reverse tho
@@user-mv8vc3zt1yhow is the worst idea ever? My finger doesn’t have to reach for the delete key and I can just right click instead. Also if you accidentally delete you can just undo
@@dolakanz680 what about an accidental deletion that you might not notice? fl is poorly optimized for large projects. you can also accidentally duplicate a pattern on a pattern and not notice that, as a result you destroy you sound
i havent found a producer i actually enjoy watching in so long bro. i really fw this dude lmao
love Eliminate, would suck if something happened to him
HUH????
Is this a threat?
very true, would suck.
would suck Eliminate if something
Suck what?
was using fl studio for 12 years but been using ableton 1 year now, never looked back i LOVE it!
Nate trying out Ableton is so inspiring.
Love you content dude
dude this is so refreshing, i was using FL for like 10 years then had to switch over to ableton cuz the producer i was working with forced me to and nothing made me angrier than the midi difference, FL midi game is too good
the new remix of Flatline is super doooope, love ur music Nate!!
As an FL user who wishes some features of Ableton were in FL and have considered switching to use them, thanks for reminding me why I'm not going to do such a silly thing! So effing funny Nate tyvm!
If you ever do this again, hold shift and scroll, that'll let you move horizontally within arrangement view. Hold ctrl and scroll and that zooms. Also, for sidechaining, grab a compressor, drop it on the track you wanna sidechain, then click the arrow next to the orange button (that's basically an on/off button), click sidechain, then select the track you wanna sidechain using, like drums. I also recommend looking around the demo track (In The Rain by ninajirachi, you're welcome)
the contrast between the ableton beat and the unrealised ID in the outro hahaha that shit bangs
Nate, you didn't even use one of the best selling points for Ableton, the sample warping!
i warped my sample into ur mom
Fym?
Every Eliminate video makes me happy :3
fl has that sexy piano roll
nate being a WSU student makes so much sense honestly this really fills in the gaps for me
CTRL-Y is the universal Windows shortcut for Redo. Mac-oriented apps use CTRL-Shift-Z. FL uses CTRL-Alt-Z for some reason.
Remember that FL had a weird undoing system in the past too. They improved it a lot a couple of years ago.
flatline is such a good song crazy to see you remixing it
Cool to see lots of vids. Good editing too. Thanks
I appreciate you trying Ableton again, thank you sir.
Bro you was doin pretty good this time!
bruh tried like5 times to learn that program after years and years of FL studio. its impossible i'll have a better chance solving a rubix cube than learn ableton
That means that your brain is very small and fruity looped
As someone who thought the same, reading the manual actually really helped me figure it out. But at the same time; if FL works for your workflow, why force it? Any DAW at this point will do the exact same shizz as any other DAW
Very true. I learned how to solve a Rubik's cube by spending a little time each day for 3 days. It's taking me a LOT longer to learn Ableton, especially when scrolling is so difficult. 😣
I used just FL for years and I’ve been full Ableton since 2020, they definitely have their differences but it helps to be fluid with both. I guess it’s second nature now because when watching the video I was like “wait is Ableton the one with ctrl+y??” But now I remember getting used to ctrl+alt+z initially when I started with fl
I'm also very sick right (might be covid idk) and I almost lost my lungs listening to the chicken chirping drop, literally wheezing from laughing holy shit
That drake line absolutely killed me
Thanks for trying Ableton so I dont have to
Fl is horrible daw, Ableton is much better
Yoo that ID is so sick
Nate seems like a Soundtrap guy for sure
That unreleased ID sounds fire
I first bought Ableton years ago when I was a student, and I don't remember needing anything more than my edu email. But I could be wrong.
However that is super shitty of them to make you verify after they took your money, instead of before. That right there makes me want to switch to a different DAW.
Just wanted to say... that FLATLINE remix goes STOOPID hard
i want that id at the end that sounded sick
goes straight into arrangement view
honeslty great video for finding small workflow tips in abeton lol
Thanks to this video I finally found an ad that cannot be skipped for the entire music video (2:48)
19:42 it's like... welcome home
Making drum patterns advice . Make a empty clip in the drum rack [ after loading your sounds ] then draw your pattern then all you gotta do is drag and drop your clip to the channel your drum rack is on in the arrangement view
SCROLL BAR AT THE TOP NEEDS A TALKING TO. man i cant agree more lmfaooo
i really love seeing you struggle in ableton XD
Bro you need to make a breakdown of that Flatline remix you made omg
wait that ID at the end is nuts PLEASE RELEASE
Despite Ableton Lite having only 8 tracks, I feel like I’ve made some really great music. It’s rare that a project of mine ever needs 8 tracks. Hell I make so many different types of music and despite that it’s been fine.
Literally the only issue are drums and adding vocals. For vocals I usually start a new project with them, and for drums - I just use a drum rack. Despite what everyone else does.
Now we wait for trying reaper
My first two weeks of Ableton trial was just like this😅 then I brought fl studio and was bummed I didn't get Ableton. I still enjoy fl studio. Ableton has alot of work flow advantages .
I use the Fruity Edition of FL and in order to get audio samples into the DAW you have to create a sampler, add a blip in the sequencer, and then do "render and replace." It's a long work around but, it works
To achieve what?
@@albyshinyfield8841 To get audio files into the playlist since Fruity Edition doesn't allow you to drag & drop
That sounds like a pain..
@@wheniztheend You get use to it after 3 years, helps that I don't use a lot of samples too.. but I wouldn't recommend it lol
@@albyshinyfield8841 It says it in his comment :P "to get audio samples into the DAW"
i love you man
You should give bitwig a shot. I was an FL user and now use it as my main DAW. Similar workflow to Ableton but a lot less of a pain in the ass and clunky. Makes a lot more sense to someone coming from fl
crazy that 8 minuets in and all we have is one kick on the track list X'D
The duck-beat killed me
Can we talk about that ID tho at the end🔥
Top 10 ableton live trial beats of 2023
Hey Nate, as a Reason user im still waiting for ytbers to try it out and find out just how unruly the learning curve is with the rack. Btw if you do wanna try it out, the intro versions are like $70 or $80 so theyre not that expensive and you get most of the devices with a limit of 16 tracks. Still a lot you can do tho if you use combinators to use several devices with one track. Pretty much everything can be automated by alt clicking it. Oh yeah and you can use your ableton trial with reason because reason can directly link with ableton if you let it.
Love your content as always tho, I'm not the hugest fan of your style of music but your reaction to ableton features were hilarious and your humour is golden.
I got u bro, added it to my soundcloud likes
sending this video to the CEO of Ableton
Ableton Devs are laughing right now as they watch nate suffering
I started on FL when I was like 12, and switched to ableton like 2 years ago because I bought an arturia minilab II and then a novation launchkey 61. At first I struggled... but now when I go back to FL I just can't haha I can't deal with doing the midi on the patern thing and then having a lot of trash patterns cause I didn't use most of them. Doing sound design is easier for me, cutting with ctrl E is so fast, warp is amazing (although I wish you could do it like cubase does it by doing the wrap markers directly on the arrangement tab) and the whole drag and drop ethos and not having to open a ton of screens, exept for vsts is amazing for me since I'm messy as hell. That being said, I miss FL's piano roll, it has so many features I kinda fill it's the best next to cubase.
Overall both are great, but I'm faster in ableton.
This is exactly how my first week with Ableton went jfc
Bishu makes it look so easy, and eliminate makes fl look so easy.
They should just swap and see who can make the best beat in 2 hours. :D
I'm so happy to see someone get just as angry as me with Abelton! FL for LIFE!
the scroll function is bad at first yes, but when gotten used to it's actually amazing
Gotta admit, I enjoyed watching you suffer a lil too much 😂 the ableton learning curve be like that
hell yeah frost children fire
20 minutes of Nate complaining about another DAW. I love it.

@@jasonemmanuel1031 oh shit didnt notice that, meant to type c not x lmoa
6:32 that is pretty crazy XD
What do you typically use, if not Ableton?
Intro edition does allow you to splice audio clips, i do it all the time.
Eliminate should try reaper, it’s a very underrated daw and really customizable
I've tried Ableton, Protools and Fl. Reaper is by far my favorite.
Ones you start with FL as your main DAW, every other DAW's gonna be alien to you. It took me weeks to understand Reaper after using FL for 6 years.
Reaper is different, though. According to deadmau5, if you learn that, you know everything. I tried to use it once. Never again.
@@etnevel.naitzsirkReaper is like linux of daws, you can so deep if you learn how to use it.
The 20 empty tracks with nothing on em are sending me
