In the movie World War Z, the north koreans removed the teeth of everyone. In the book the North Koreans disappeared into bunkers. It was theorized that they were all turned into undead and the surviving nations after the war were reluctant to open the bunkers in the fear that doing so would release millions of zombies into a world just starting to recover

    • @AeneasGemini

Yeah that annoyed me somewhat, the book was definitely better than the film, but it would've been difficult to make a true to novel version on the big screen

@@AeneasGemini I always felt that the best platform for a true WWZ movie would be as an HBO miniseries. Each chapter/POV could be shown in 1-3 one hour episodes, they could even include the narrative aspect of the book by including the beginning of the interview at the start of the episode and then going into the flashback section as the episode progressed.

Mass Effect's apocalypse seems real awful but at least one dude survived on Eden Prime by sleeping behind a dumpster, so it's at least a little survivable.

Then you have the hunters who not only have the speed of walkers but are durable enough to shrug off the attacks from a battle tank but can even lift, flip, and throw that tank.

basically any fantasy necromancer zombie plague sort of thing would match those on the list. the necromancers typically can create different versions of zombies and other undead, with the basic dumb zombie as the cheap self replicating fodder. the slightly more advanced ones are upgraded versions of their living counterparts, with the most advanced being formless or with some other super powered ability that makes them a massive threat on their own. all of this is centered at one point on the necromancer, which means that if you survive the plague it can start again if you didn't find and kill the necromancer which is a pretty powerful opponent in their own right.

The Borg are a spacefaring Empire, capable of high adaptiation.
They can assimilate anyone in your population and are even able to revive dead in a pinch. Learnign all the victims knowledge of defense plans, weaknesses or codes.
A single Drone treats being rifle-butted in the face like lovetap - unless said rifle is swung by a Klingon.
And worst of all: They adapt. In Star Trek they never had enough exposure to things like projectile weapons to adapt to them. If it is your main defense? You can bet they will adapt.
And that asume they do not just drop a nanoprobe bomb on your planet, effectively going Biological Warfare to assimilate everyone and everything at once.

From Scions, which are several husks glued together along with a big gun, to Rachni turned into artillery pieces, Harvesters doing close air support, and Marauders and Cannibals with their assault rifle-ish armament making up a lot of meat, too, not to mention Brutes.
Killing husks is one thing, because they are unarmed and just charge blindly, you can get into a dozen situations where they cant get into melee range, but pretty much everything, except Brutes, is basically a Zombie with either a gun, or a BFG, just made from a species other than humans, so you dont even get the range advantage or the ability to fortify a position.

The Cordyceps infection in TLOU is rather terrifying as well. It's not that spectacular compared to the Husks or The Flood or anything, but the idea of walking into a building and realizing too late that it's filled with spores (which weren't dense enough to be visible when you walked in) kinda terrifies me. Like, that building could have been fine a week ago, but now you're just gonna die, there's nothing you can do to stop it.

“5 hardest zombie apocalypses..” um...the flood from halo (hive mind mutant parasite zombies that absorb their victims knowledge), the taken from destiny (can turn weak willed victims into teleporting ghost with guns), the infested from warframe (can literally infect and puppet machines and computer systems), and the Zombie army (think cod’ zombies but with more super powered zombies that are intelligent and more magic like snipers and necromancers). Seriously feels like they couldn’t think up anything more impressive than a thinking walker.

28 days later “zombies” would be easy to defeat. No need for a headshot since they will die like any other human.
The incubation time is like 5 seconds and they have to get their blood on you to infect you so it is easy to spot and contain. In the end they die from stavation……
I dont know why people always bring up 28 days later zombies just because the run……. They are still way to easy to defeat.
In general humans will win 10/10 times against walking dead, 28 days, WWZ(book), romeroe zombies etc.
