One thing that should also be mentioned is that the previous Q3 stillfront missed earnings from the botting problem. After they addressed the bots they then got ddosed to hell.
They cite these 2 event as the sole reason they missed their projected profit on Albion and have since promised investors that future content updates will offset the losses

Albion died the day they started prioritising group content and started majorly disadvantaging solo players. Solo playerd are the lifeblood of any MMORPG and when you constantly and consistently screw th over like albion does, you can't have much of a future.

Dude i ve been seeing this comment on various platforms, can you clarify this to me please? As a player who is interested in small group content, been playing since alpha release i cant understand how game is going for group content? They destroyed very popular 5v5 hellgates, removed crystals, roads are almost dead; meanwhile mists and corrupteds are the most popular thing for years bow which are for solo players. We turned back to game as 10irl friends after 2 years, we cant find any content for small group; its either large group zvz or solo now. Big chests are next to hideouts and 20 people run to you at black zones, factions are fucked now. Why people think game is goin for more group content? Because of tracking? Lol. We also cry cuz we think game is turning to a solo game.albion was first introduced as big zvz fights, one of a kind in its time which became quite succesful i guess. Now its turning solo to sell skins like a mobile game? No idea, so confused atm. ( didnt watch the video yet first saw your comment and wanted to learn why people think its turning to more group content game)

    • @acekai
      @acekai ปีที่แล้ว +39

@@tashmoo It's very simple. Every change made in the game. From open world to mount health to resistances, etc favor group content. The entire game is about group content and all solo players have is mists (filled with p2w players) and corrupted (most boring content in albion). We literally can't step outside anywhere else without being mobbed by a bunch of unskilled chimps who's only skills are discord and keyboard mashing.

The sad fact about it is that Albion lost a lot of long time players that started back in 2020 or earlier.
Sure, they gained a fair share of new players with split server, all the large group content boost.
But majority of those smaller groups moved on to different titles, unfortunately. I've been in couple small guilds and they either developed into large scale ones (forced by game), or simply quit. ggs

YOu're right. That's exactly how Gameforge destroyed Metin 2. But the non-loot faction warfare for me personally was and still is the best opportunity to earn silver, I could recently buy and use my first 8.3, without having to worry that i lose it.
ABout the awakened weapons... I tried to do them myself and calculated that: for the price of a regular 8.4 healing staff I can make a 5.4 awakened that heals the same amount, but deals much less damage, but gives me a nice amount of HP. In this case, surprisingly balanced, I expected much worse. Of course, in short term it would be much better to buy 8.3, but still...

Been playing Albion for nearly 7 years at this point and haven't has the desire to log on in a good few weeks. Whilst there has been updates, the game feels pretty stagnant to me. I actually think a good path forward for the game would be a significant shift of focus into PvE content. I know it is a PvP game and love it for that, but there are only so many different arenas and types of PvP to explore. Or so something new and radical like sailing/ship content.

Hey man, I work in FP&A and there are three phases to acquisitions: recover purchase cost (typically an amount equal to 5 annual revenues), add value, then sale the asset. Stillfront is probably still trying to make sure SBI isn't a loss. After they have recovered the investment, Stillfront needs SBI to pay for itself while it shops SBI around.

My friend and I quit the game after playing it consistently for 2 years, we found ourselves struggling to keep up with premium, while collecting fame and levelung important nodes and trying to budget some silver to buy builds and learn how to pvp properly.

The game has none of the charm that drew in the original players who truly were a cult following. Long time veterans that committed so many hours into their guilds and communities to create content for all to enjoy. Hardcore players that had been playing since the betas and even alphas that could not stop coming back. SBI shifted away from community driven content to cater to the more casual players with things like CDs and Mists which has pulled a large number of the remaining players out of the open world and into instances. Since Lands Awakened was released the quality of black zone content has dramatically decreased. I don't see the same staunch competition between guilds, alliances and coalitions that once drove majority of the content in the game without the need for incentives like chests, orbs and vortexes. The removal of hideout and territory exclusivity took away any reason to really fight hard for them, since any clown and his circus can put down a HQ and now every zone has a dedicated police force to ruin your day just for stopping by. Gatherers are rarely seen out there compared to the old days since the introduction of much safer gathering in the Roads and Mists. Ganking routes have died compared to the past since players can now just press R for a very negligible amount of silver, not to mention all the nerfs and changes made to curb ganking. Solo/duo players are essentially forced into the Mist to be cannon fodder for card swipers, the removal of the 2 charge green roads really putting the nail in that coffin which began with the decline in relevance of solo dungeons. The world used to be teeming with solo players and small groups since the guilds and alliances that controlled the territories/hideouts had a much harder time policing all of the zones and really didn't have an interest in doing so aside from their core territory. The world used to be alive and the content that was made by the players was so much more spontaneous, dynamic and exciting than this current world where SBI dictates to you what it is you should be doing and where you should be doing it. There is so much more I could say but I'd be here all day. I went from a playing an ungodly number of hours a week to playing a few hours once every few months only to find I am not having fun and hate the content. I really do miss the way the game used to be but I doubt it will ever be in a state that I would consider playing seriously ever again. Thanks to everybody I met on my adventures in Albion and all the awesome memories we made taking on the world together. Those were the best days I've ever had playing an MMO,.

They bumped gold for 1 month sub from 3000 - 3750. They opened the Asia server, and now opening the EU server as well, which effectively screwed their VERY healthy economy/ player base.
When I started in 2021, premium was 7-9mill silver for 1 month. Logged in today to check up on the market activity and stare at my main for a few sad minutes. Premium is 24 million silver now.
Because of the other servers they opened, and the bad update choices. A market that was once thriving is now garbage. I checked the major trade hubs (Fort Sterling/Bridgewatch). Items that I used to trade in would have 200+ transactions an hour, now have a measly 5-8.

I get so sick of companies that feel the need to see CONSTANT growth, and if something isn't CONSTANTLY growing, then it's inherently bad from a business standpoint. If something is making them money, but the production costs aren't increasing, then why does there have to be an issue in making more money? I was pretty shocked when i came back and realized premium was so expensive, but for how big the game has gotten, it's not so unfair compared to the likes of WoW or other sub-based games.

Personally I think SBI made the right call by increasing the number of tracks, but not the rewards. Shapeshifting weapons aren't really any more inaccessible to the average player than artifact weapons are, and given their overall power balance, I'm glad they aren't a budget build.
If SBI had actually just integrated a shapeshifting weapon in to the various existing lines, a la artifact weapons, I suspect most of us wouldn't be as upset as we are about their accessibility/scarcity/power.

As a free-to-play game they have to have ways to fund the game so I kind of understand wanting to keep shapeshifter weapons pretty rare so then they are expensive on the market and awaken weapons being a silver sink. That's just my personal opinion. Even games that are free to play though that have pay to win parts such as RuneScape can still last a very long time.

Great Video. The fact of the matter is, that until there is actual competition to Albion Online from a legitimate contender, SBI and Stillfront will continue to get away with the terrible trend of P2W updates. The awakening system by far has been the most egregious of all attempts, and this is only for the weapons. This will continue with the armor awakening and eventual legendary systems, and it honestly is sad to see how much the item power disparities are across the game in multiple game modes. For now, I am just going to enjoy the parts of the game that are fun for as long as I can until another game comes out with better gameplay in the full loot PvP niche.

Albion itself is a great game, funny and brave enough to have pvp full loot, which is very rare nowadays, but it suffer a lot from a certain % of user that try to scam, rmt and take all they can get. If you give people too much freedome, some shitters will always try to take advantage of the situation. And, while in the real world we have tribunals and police, here we can just look at bot auto-gathering, bots transporting, huge ass group that win with no effort whatsoever.

I agree that Albion devs did a tactical mistake in selling out because :
1-Were they thinking a company that invests 100+ millions wont make pushes to make more cash?
2-I disagree that the last patch were to milk "whales" , If anything they were to milk views and free publicity from twitch streamers.
3-I dont consider myself a whale and I bough the pack when the game was being developed to help the company , I felt betrayed that they sold out. I always payed my sub with cash.
4- The content they have pushed was more towards one man , or 2 content (twitch) I dont give a shit about that content so good luck with that paired with atrocious balancing shenanigans with the weapons being nerfed left and rigth and changing skills from skill shots to dum auto aim skills because of said content .
5-I never tougth going for mobiles was a good thing for albion , it stupidifies the game to accommodate people with slower machines and small screen's in the detriment of the PC crowd, but those people are accustomed to swipe like dumbos.
What Albion needs is more tools to play in the sandbox , better guild managment ,better wallets (guilds, alliances) contracts systems , siege weapons , man made castles ,boats etc etc.
What did we have these past 2 years ? Mists and solo dungeons currupted , mega clap .

It is easy to get mad at high tier gankers killing everyone in mists, but it is how it works in blackzones, avalonian roads and everywhere else but the corrupted dungeons and arena. If most of the game was ip locked there would be no reason to go farm high tier resources or do anything really. But if they continue shrinking ip locked content, there would be less possibilities for non-p2w (absolute majority of the players) to steamroll to good equipment. SBI has to balance this, and I think they mostly do it right.

I started loving the game because of the non p2w aspect but I had to quit last year because of the lack of solo content. For a casual solo like me, i couldn't even afford a set of 8.1 gear for corrupted dungeons while people are running 8.3. Same story in the mists. I had to stick to stalker dungeons because of the hard ip cap but it later becomes boring. I really loved open world roaming but it's kinda hard to do for a solo. It's hard to go back to PVE after you've got a taste of pvp so I couldn't really go back to doing PVE either.

I am not very sociable in the first place so I don't make friends easily. I used to roam solo, do dungeon dives, mists, corrupted, everything a solo can do for pvp but more and more, i felt like game has turned p2w.

As a person who started playing albion onlineduring the game launch in asia server, i have incultivated bad habits of P2W and i wasted close to $500 to $700 to this game over a course of 10 months and honestly its not worth it.
The fact that earning silver is bascially non-existent as a solo player if u do farming/ killing mobs since u have to constantly repair, the game becomes poop and boring.
in asia, guilds require interviews and a shit ton of commitment. Thus the game becomes even more poop.
Overall, the game is indeed a shithole of solo players and is only fun if u play with friends honestly :/

This video just shows how limited his gameplay is and he just talk about the content for solo players. Welp it is somehow true but Albion is always a group game and if you play together with people well it just doesn't matter. So judging from a perspective of solo players/solo content is not that much accurate to predict the game's future. If you guys want to continue this discussion, I can deep dive you more why ZVZ content is thrown out of his videos and not talked about, which creates negative and hopeless for the future of Albion for BigLips.

While I agree that Albion is in decline and this is a great explanation, I look at a couple of the changes differently.
I have to say first that I have never and will never RTM to Albion. With this mentality, I struggle to understand those who spend a considerable amount of money on the game (although I appreciate that they float the boat). This also means that I view things like .4 release and Awakened weapons as SBI’s attempt to keep the mature player base, who has already done everything there is to do in the game, interested.
Furthermore, I see in-game silver sinks like 120 and awakened as and attempt to provide an alternative for hoarding silver as gold, which contributes to the spike in in-game premium price. While 120 update was before I started, the correlation between awakened update and decrease in gold/premium price seems evident as, either players who bought gold as a hedge and left the game, come back to play new content; or, hoarded gold was sold to afford awakened costs.
My evidence of the decline (West only) is the server split, which caused an increasing rift between bid and ask prices in the markets. This suggest to me that likely there are far less people in the markets (which are actually the pulse of the game) or that our Asian friends, departed to their only land, really liked to craft. Either way, the widening in bid/ask is an indication of a weak market/game.
Finally, as someone who’s religiously watched Twitch streamers over the last year for drops, I note that many of my favorites are streaming less, not at all, or very infrequently. If there’s anyone who knows and cares about the health of the game more than the player base, it would be those who derive their income from the game.
Regardless of the reasons, I am both glad of the validation of my mutual feelings that the game is worse today than it was almost 2 years ago when I started; and, sad to witness the last breaths of a time sink I very much enjoy.
Thanks for the vid and for reading this far into my soapbox!
