It's pretty obvious to tell that the fly over footage of the Las Vegas Strip shown in the opening here was filmed in the very early 2000's, because you can clearly see the Stardust and Frontier at 0:10 which were closed in November 2006/July 2007 and demolished in March/December 2007 respectively. There's also the shuttered Desert Inn (closed back in August 2000) which subsequently became the site of Wynn Encore as well as the former Silver City casino, and judging by these things this had to have been from at least sometime around circa 2000/2001 because that's the only logical time when it would've been taken. That is interesting how this footage was used in retrospect, because it's shows hotels and casinos on the strip that have long since been demolished and replaced with other things, and in the case of the Stardust's former space especially so since its intended replacement Echelon Place went down the drain due to the impact of the 2008 economic crisis on Strip development and thus what little had been built there before then sat gathering dust for a long time, that is until Genting Group bought the development from Boyd Gaming and is in the process of building Resorts World Las Vegas as of now.
What's funny is... in the 13 years since this aired, no one has ever mentioned it, even my game show friends. I actually forgot about this. Lol. But you're right! It was a Monday show, too, so just a lapse of memory early, I guess?
Yes! Charlie O'Donnell died the week before this aired. Charlie was actually announcing in Vegas when we were there (because it was taped months in advance), but Johnny's voice was dubbed over it for the broadcast after Charlie died
@@meowkitty5588 It was the week before. The on-air tribute at the end of the show was the same show as the one-letter solve... which was the Friday before my show. He died days before that tribute. Also, Johnny didn't fill in until after Charlie passed away (especially on a show recorded 4 months before and was definitely announced by Charlie)
Thank you for commenting! Unfortunately, Charlie died the week before this aired (frequent "Wheel" watchers will remember Pat and Vanna's tribute, which aired the Friday before this Monday episode). So starting with my episode, Johnny voiced over all the work Charlie did. When I was taping the show, Charlie was there. I even said hello to him and etc.
@@MorganNye He was actually there when it taped. He actually walked past me and I startled him because I said "Charlie O'Donnell!" in excitement when I saw him. Lol. But he announced the entire show on tape date. But he passed away the week before mine aired, so Johnny Gilbert redid everything and it aired with Johnny
@@MorganNye yeah. The week Charlie died Johnny announced in person - Charlie must’ve gotten sick suddenly. This one Johnny was dubbed in for and then the next week was taped with Johnny. I do believe the later ones were Jim/Rich.
