    Well, mine turned up a few days ago and it is delightful. The adaptive highs are so fabulous when playing in that edge of breakup area, I don't think I've ever played anything quite like it.
    I restrict myself to five pedals, maximum - one is the tuner, and this is a modeling board so includes the 'amp' too. Currently: DCX Boost > Revival compact > Iridium > Flint > Strobostomp. Without question the best setup I've ever had AND I'm so thrilled with the DCX that it could quite easily prove to kick the Revival off the board! Note: I'm pretty much always playing with just a hint of sizzle when hitting harder, never more grit than that so this seriously impacts my needs on the board.
    For anyone watching this: the effect of this pedal, for me, is so so much more apparent with my hands on the strings than it was watching Alex's video. Not that he could have done any better, just that the immediacy of touch to sound tells so much more than otherwise attainable.

    • @SuperdangerStudios

      It's a really unique pedal, just like everything else OE does. Perfect guitar tones! Sounds like it fits right in with your board!

    Great demo. I bought it as soon as it was released and it immediately became my first and only 'always on' pedal ever. I am seriously considering buying a second one to have discrete settings for my brighter and darker guitars.
    One thing I found in addition to everything mentioned: this pedal really improves all kinds of modelers - it adds dynamics and warmth to sounds most digital modelers fail at spectacularly... clean and eob sounds.

    • @SuperdangerStudios
      @SuperdangerStudios  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good choice! It really adds to any sound you are going for. And agree, the sound it added to the Iridium was perfect. Just a bit of warmth and saturation with some light sag. It is so nice might have to buy it twice haha!

    Man, you have a killer voice, i'd love to see you perform live. As far as the "always on" pedal for me it's the Benson Preamp. Don't know what I'd do without it! Keep up the great work.

    Dude, amazing channel, amazing content. I love your attitude towards pedals and tone in general. "Does this sound bad? No!" Then use it, its valid. Very very refreshing and exactly what the guitar community needs to hear, even though some might not want to hear it. No clickbait thumbnails, honest assessment backed by in-the-moment examples of playing, explanation of signal chain for context. You should have an extra comma in your subscriber count. Keep it up!!!

    Adding an update. I just stacked the M-EQ Driver into the DCX Boost. Origin Effects was kind enough to answer my request for advice on stacking, and they suggested the same order. Also running a Keeley Compressor Pro in front of both. Which they also said was fine. I was wondering how the compressor would affect the adaptive circuit. Using a Dream 65 at the end, with the Two Rock cab, a Boss DD-200 right before that and playing a Silver Sky.
    I'm interested in Jerry Garcia tones. What was interesting about the Origin Effects advice, was that they said the pairing produced a bouncy tone. Perfect for the Dead I was working on.
    In this chain, it's not clear whether I need an overdrive or which one. Interestingly, according to That Pedal Show, the M-EQ can produce both Klon and TS-like sounds.
    Anyway, because the pedals are so unusual, they feel perfect for mad scientists chasing tones. I'm only an apprentice, but a) they're fun and b) they played well together even though I'm an amateur and tried them before I even remembered how they worked.
    Love to see a pro stack them. I only found one video on TH-cam that tried it.

    • @SuperdangerStudios
      @SuperdangerStudios  ปีที่แล้ว

      I just plugged in my M-EQ and it is so rad yet so different from the DCX. SOunds like you found a great tone stack! Gonna do a quick comparison video then to a full deep dive on the M-EQ. There is a lot of tone to be mined there! Congrats on your pedals!

    • @mikem668
      @mikem668 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SuperdangerStudios Great to hear you got the M-EQ. And tell Origin Effects you just sold a Halcyon Gold!!! Just got off the phone with Sweetwater.
      However, I'm still partly in the woods. I was talking to my guy at Sweetwater, Dave Cody, about the benefits to him, SW, Origin Effects and OE gear junkies like me if OE helped train them on these pedals. They seem unique. If I run a DCX into an M-EQ into a Halcyon Gold there's a lot of EQ-ing and adapting going on. Easy to get lost. It feels to an amateur like me as a difference in kind.
      Finally, I was mistaken about the pedal order I first tried, which was DCX into M-EQ. When I tried OE's suggestion and reversed it, no joy. Not saying it's them. Almost positive it's me. I just wonder if there's a principle at work. I'd assumed boost with a treble cut before the mid eq. I plan on using the Halcyon Gold as the only "overdrive" for now. So I'll be really interested in what you come up with. Thanks.

      @@SuperdangerStudios Just for checking and comparing. Got infatuated with those Origin Amp/Modulation Pedals - what a great sound, the bias trem as well as the vibrato with the vibe/phase options. And for good measure, the Lion - just to show them who's their daddy…
      Had the Cali76 FET Compressor a while ago but sent it back, basically because of all those issues they changed now, first of all the LED meter - so much easier to dial in (at least for me).
      And don't those Black Edition pedals look RAAAAD?!
      By any means, I won't be able to keep most of them, but I'm sooo much looking forward to check them out at my leisure at home. And then, there are the stacking options. Hope to come out of this alive…

    I'm searching for the ultimate tone enhancer/shaper as first pedal on my futur compact pedalboard (5 pedals, 6 max).
    I wonder if this is better than a compressor ? To me this seems really more versatile, and can do the compressor trick I'm looking for (enhance the signal, lush tone shaping).
    The J Rockett Airfield 66 Comp is the close contender.
    What is your opinion ?

    Now I have a problem…..the pedalboard and flight case need replacing to fit this on.

      @SuperdangerStudios  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe this was mix #10 in the premixes. I always use the premixed ones bc I could spend way too much time in the weeds w the singles. 5th origin pedal? Haha right on. Me too! Getting a bit crowded here haha. I’m loading up the board right now for a birthday trip and am having a hard time figuring out what to bring.

    • @davidyelland908

      5 it would be indeed. Chain is: Cali 76 compact; Thorpy Fallout Cloud; Halcyon; Revival Drive Hot Rod, Revival Drive CV Compact; Iridium; Volume pedal; Mobius; Timeline; Big Sky. Getting hard to better.
      At least here in the UK the Origin stuff will be a relatively better price.

    • @SuperdangerStudios
      @SuperdangerStudios  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      DCX boost is much better at tone shaping and the OD is much more brash sounding than a typical OD sound. The gold is much warmer and can cover similar ground but shines on leads. If you are more concerned about EQ the DCX is the way to go. But if you want a killer klon drive gold is it.
