Hello, I am actually a worker at this park and I completely understand the review. The thing is, we are severely understaffed. Ever since the pandemic happened, we lost many of the workers we had. Due to this, we cannot operate all the rides in the area. We usually have enough workers to rotate to different rides, but it can take us a while to get to each one. The chaos ride has a broken piece that is extremely hard to find. It was a popular ride while it lasted, but it will most likely never reopen. They tried whatever they could to fix the ride, thus the pieces, but it’s just no good. The looping star at the time of your video was under maintenance. It’s still being worked on, but they say it will open soon. I won’t lie though, it’s not my cup of tea. Being on it just whips you around and hurts your neck. It was probably for the better you didn’t ride it. As for the workers, we’re a bunch of teens who get paid $11.10 an hour. I don’t know about everyone else, but I get usually 9-10 hour shifts with just one thirty minute break. If you think that’s enough time to wait in line, get lunch, or use the bathroom your horribly wrong. My coworker passed out due to heat, so they gave her an ice pop and made her sit in the cabin. She couldn’t leave though. This is no excuse for us to make it your problem though. We shouldn’t make other people miserable just because some of us don’t like it here. I’ve only worked here for about four months, and they just threw me into training for the big rides. Let me tell you, it is not that pleasant. I don’t feel comfortable operating the large rides after just two hours of training. They don’t have enough employees that know how to operate the big rides though, so they had no choice but to teach me. All in all, the boardwalk is a fun place when it has enough staff. Most of the rides would be open, and the employees wouldn’t be as stressed I guess. At the moment, however, the boardwalk is definitely not at it’s best. Everything you said is basically true lol. You kinda got us at a bad time. I hope one day you can visit us again when we’re more prepared though!
I tried revisiting this year, but I wanted to make sure the coaster and rides I cared about were open. Unfortunately, no one answered my calls or emails. As I mentioned, the staff I encountered was friendly and I understand being short staffed with the pandemic. I just wish the park made it known on the website which rides would be closed like many other parks do.
Most of the workers faced the choice of returning to the minimum wage (or slightly better) grind, or sitting at home, not working, and collecting unemployment PLUS an additional $500/week. Many people here in NJ did that for as long as they could.
Nostalgia overcomes me as I watch this video. I remember my family bringing me to Keansburg when I was a kid growing up in the 80s. I remember a wide selection of flatrides, including (but not limited to): Himalaya, Paratrooper, Round-Up, Trabant, Rock-O-Plane, Tilt-a-Whirl, Twister, Scrambler ... I even remember (however briefly) what I can only describe as a giant-sized Whip ride dubbed "Galaxy". And apart from the rides, Keansburg was where I was first introduced to a game called "Fascination". Sadly, all of this is in the past. I think much of these were removed in the 90s, and whatever was left was destroyed by Superstorm Sandy. The Keansburg I see in this video ... it's not the Keansburg I remember. That one will forever be in my memory.
I feel you Mike. I am 52 years old (an 80s kid too), and my parents brought me there as a kid, and my mom went there as a kid. My daughter is almost 16, and we still go there all the time. She got to ride the old Spook House before Sandy destroyed it. In fact, it's a miracle the park is still there at all. We still love to go there because it's fairly close to where I live. It's cheap, and we can still play games (which are certainly not 10 cents and 25 cents any more!) and eat carnival food all day!
Yea i grew up in the 90s and loved pulling into the parking lot at night and always ran to the swinging ship cause of the views at night. I miss the old park
What you are describing is how I remember the park. It's sad to see it looking so run down. Rides are the most important part of an amusement park. They really need to get some more running.
I say go back in a few years and give it another try. I always believe in giving parks a second chance. For example my first visit to Kings Dominion in 2008 wasn't that great but after revisiting in 2013, it became one of my favorite parks anywhere. Another example would be my visit to Six Flags Fiesta Texas which was probably one of my worst park experiences everywhere but that doesn't mean I'd never want to go back there again. In fact, that's probably the one visit I want to revisit more than any other because of that reason.
Sad these rides were closed, I’ve went here a lot growing up. Looping Star was my first inversion and a lot of the rides that were closed were nice. The water park was more nice for a far visitor, but as someone near by the dry side has a nostalgia factor!
For me Looping Star was a memorable experience. The seat was so low that I felt I was sitting on the floor of the car, which made drops and a vertical loop a very strange experience. Also I parked in what looked like the park’s own adjacent parking lot, but when I returned to the car I had a ticket.
Canobie Coaster It looked like a dirt/gravel lot at one end of the park, but apparently it was metered parking, signs for which I never saw. Felt a bit like a racket.
super late on the reply sorry about that, but im a keansburg local the lot your talking about is actually the beach lot hence the ramps up to the beach which yeah is metered parking, the actual boardwalks parking lot is the one behind the park that you can kinda see behind the sea serpent coaster, entrence to the lot is near the kids section between the small snack vendor and the batting cages@@CanobieCoaster
I used to work here. I get the review, but when you visit a struggling amusement park during a pandemic I’m not necessarily sure what exactly you were expecting. The park is very short staffed and struggles to find workers. The workers there work their asses off, working long shifts with limited break time which might be why they seem unhappy. Less about the park and more about how much they probably work to keep it afloat.
I am willing to give them a second chance, but the park didn't respond to any phone calls or emails trying to figure out if rides were open in 2021. I know people who visited prior to 2020 who unfortunately had experiences similar to mine.
You went to a small, local amusement park that is suffering (like most small businesses) during the middle of a pandemic, and you're shocked that it was sparsely attended and that a lot of the rides were closed? They're barely making enough money to be open at all, because they don't have the backing of a giant corporate parent like Six Flags. Yep, it's a small park, and it was never really known for having "big" rides, but I have been going there my entire life, and my daughter and I still have a good time going there to play games, eat boardwalk food, and stroll on the beach. I'm sorry you were disappointed, but like I said, we are in the middle of a global pandemic.
I completely understand we're in the middle of a pandemic. And I understand not everything will be open. But most parks that have had rides closed due to the pandemic have posted that online.
Funny to be talking about this place in the middle of a Pandemic! I grew up at this park during the 80s and 90's and it was always fun! Rides were awesome, Food was awesome and I was always playing the Arcades at Bev and Wallys. Street Fighter 2 / Mortal Kombat / House of the Dead / lots of awesome games. even the squirt the clown game, the Lottery Wheel, the Lilly Pad Frog Hammer game and the Bumper Cars were fun.

I'd also like to see the beaches cleaned up a lot more too. they have had way too many drug addicts go on the beach and leave their needles and syringes on the beach. constant call of police for drug busts there too. never had such horrid problems back in the 80's once the 90's hit that's when it started to fall.
this makes me so sad because my parents used to take me to keansburg when i was a kid bc we lived twenty minutes away. i wish i could go back and relive all of those childhood memories but sadly that was now over 7 years ago
how rare can a change rides chaos be? I know one of them was at Adventuredome, but they can't be as rare as Their Hyper GT-X or their old Toboggan right?
I only know of 3 Chaos rides- Adventuredome, this one, and one in Canada. I agree Chance Toboggans are rarer at this point but I dislike those rides. As for the hyper GTX, I don't see Lightning Run being removed anytime soon. Chaos is a dying ride.
There used to be a crapload of Chaos rides everywhere. I've ridden old Chaos rides at Cedar Point, Wild Adventures, and even my hometown fair. Many closed down, I believe because of maintenance issues. The only existing Chaos rides that I know about are the three mentioned. Nowadays, Chaos is no doubt a very rare flatride.
I have great memories of riding chaos seamlessly endless times at seaside heights, NJ boardwalk 15, maybe even 20 years ago now. If the park could guarantee me that Chaos was open, I’d drive the 1 hour and 30 mins this summer just to ride my old favorite again!!! :(
you posted this video in OCTOBER of 2020. When did you visit? if you visited off season this is not a fair assessment of the rides as many of them will be "winterized" at the end of the season (labor day)
Hi I want to ask you what time did you go because if it's September than there not going a lot of works because a lot of the work go to the high school and pandemic happen so but if you do go back the perfect time is August and July
It was because of COVID I have lived and worked in keansburg and worked at keansburg amusment park for 3 years now so sorry to hear about the bad experience I know that they are working on renovating the park back up which would be nice considering the close proximity to nyc it has
I hope they can turn it around. I get covid impacted a lot of parks in 2020, but I just wish they posted online how many rides were closed like a lot of other parks.

I'm going to recommend either Seaside Heights New Jersey or else Point Pleasant Beach. That's Ocean County. Seaside Heights has more attractions, rides, and games but also more riffraff. Point Pleasant Beach is a quaint and well-groomed family town. And their Boardwalk is pretty good. If you want a better time next time. Check out Point Pleasant Beach.
Fun Fact, I used to go to this park a lot when I was 5 or 6 and my grandparents lived in New Jersey. The water park is actually really good. The amusement park, not so much. The only real reason my grandparents took me here over great adventure was how close it was, even in 2015 and 2016 the park was much better.
At least from last time I visited this park, about half of the rides were closed, the rides of note what were open were the kiddie coaster and the s&s drop tower, I know the Pinfari Looping star rarely operated, I only got a ride on it once. I think the water park could operate by itself but the dry park might be closed by 2030. Also, I do remember much of the carnival games and food open, in fact I remember spending around 15$ trying to win a goldfish, I won but I was pretty sure most of the goldfish in the back just wanted to be won, then they would die a month later.
I've ridden the travelling looping star here 50 or so times, but admittedly not in the last 10 years.. However, it's just not that bad, so either I had 50 freak experiences (!) lol, or maybe they get rough as they get older.. - OR, people are just too wimpy! I even get airtime on the first drop in the back seat.. Honestly, it was perfectly smooth, and because it was the only looping coaster ever to exist in my state, I rode it every chance I could get. They are not that bad and worth a credit.
The amusement park is great! Although the looping star gave me a headache from the banging and loops.I wouldn’t rate it as a bad park. It looks bad because people don’t visit it much.
I used to live near kingsburg I lived in belford when I was a kid and kingsburger music Park was great back then and last time I went there I was in my 30s and I still thought it was pretty good I don't know about now though but I would go visit it because it'll remind me when I was younger thanks for your video 👍😊
@@CanobieCoaster Yeah, the park needs some serious help. Also, Gillian's Wonderland Pier is about on the exact same track, only about half of all their rides are open and some stuff is actually gone.
Chaos is broke, i heard they are selling it. Only ran for 1 year and it is too expensive to fix. The other rides are all opening on memorial day. And they got rid of the rope (it was rope dangling) on the loop ride. It's not a bad park, i worked there for a couple of years. I go all the time. They just need to update some rides. Go on memorial day and see what how it really is.

I like it but not as good as some other new jersey amuesment parks like moreys piers seaside heights or Playlands castaway cove Moreys piers is probably the best boardwalk park in New jersey heck In my opinion more fun then six flags great adventure
@@CanobieCoaster One thing I've seen different by the way is after the first half, they physically double check the restraints before the second half (It's an older one from 2000, so the Weigh button on the control panel needs to be pressed a second time, instead of an automatic dispatch).

Well u went on a day that looks like it’s expecting thunderstorms bcuz I know that the weekends during summer, this park is PACKED, every weekend in summer!!
You did this review in the middle of the pandemic when everything was closed due to covid restrictions i really dont think its fair but you know what..? Come on a weekend evening and see how many people come here and have a great time ...and remember we don't charge a small fortune for people to have a good time in keansburg so unlike seaside or point pleasant we don't make a fortune off our boardwalk and amusements ....!!!
I've been willing to give them a second chance, but all my messages to the park to figure out if the rides are open have been unanswered. Finding a ton closed is something a few of my friends had happen to them pre-covid.
The property that the park sits on is worth much more then the amusement park so give them credit for not selling it and seeing condos built there instead! As to the Looping Star, a slightly better version site on the Pier in Ocean City Maryland. Keensburgh will ne dr be a Moreys Pier, but it’s raffish presentation is much like the defunct Bertrands Island or Williams Grove parks. And these places sadly are few and far between.
The boardwalk is just a symbol of how dirty and gritty Keansburg is but don’t get me wrong it’s a great community but stuff does happen there it’s not the same anymore
okay i can get the review but man you went in the middle of a pandemic that's still going on their still understaffed even in 2021 go back when their isnt a global pandemic affecting everything a fair bit of their workers are from over seas because they pay for temp visas for students who want to study abroad.
I will give them a second chance if they have everything open. My biggest issue was the lack of notification on the website almost everything would be down. Other parks posted status updates if certain rides were closed.
Keansburg was the best when I was growing up. But I went there recently and it’s still just as bad as it was in your video. It’s really a huge shame. Also, if you ever go back don’t believe them if they tell you all the rides are open just by word of mouth. When I went, that whole section of rides over by Chaos was completely turned off. We asked the person at the ticket booth if all the rides would be turned on at any point and she said “they’re all running” which was a lie. There was only 2 or 3 adult rides running. They will tell you literally anything to get money out of you.

You should be grateful because there was a hurricane OK and a lot of the rides were working and they try their hardest to help and do stuff and people are just getting fired and I don’t wanna work there anymore. Just be grateful what rides are open it’s very sad because there was a bad hurricane, and my parents were in it, and I almost died. They saved 99 year old man and after a few days later, he died and it was hurricane Sandy and it was a lot for those people but you should be really grateful it’s not bad now it’s 2023 you did this in like 2020 bud. But it looks better now the loopy stars open. It’s just the chaos is really broken but all the other rides are open but you should be really grateful for the rides are open they try their hardest don’t be mean be respectful.
I'm thankful the park survived covid. I just wish they were more transparent about rides that were available. I tried contacting them before my visit and in a later year with no success.

And don't forget the HEAD ON ONLY parking its a ticket of $50 and I saw so many cars with tickets the town its getting rich with this tickets and yes there is signs but I could never believe you pay for parking to park in a certain way on a open area parking lot it must be the Town parking lot I will never comeback to this place

If they're not giving you adequate bathroom breaks you need to contact the NJ (?) Dept. of Labor. They can't keep you from using the bathroom.

This was in the summer. As mentioned, I am willing to give them another chance if the park makes their ride availability known before I drive there.

Hi I want to ask you what time did you go because if it's September than there not going a lot of works because a lot of the work go to the high school and pandemic happen so but if you do go back the perfect time is August and July

I’ve never been on a Chance Rides Chaos before. They look pretty cool.
I rode one at Adventuredome and didn't get much spinning. I wanted to give the ride a second chance.

I went to Keansburg when they had Belvedere & Crystal Pools. Great times.
The park sounds like it used to be better.

It was because of COVID I have lived and worked in keansburg and worked at keansburg amusment park for 3 years now so sorry to hear about the bad experience I know that they are working on renovating the park back up which would be nice considering the close proximity to nyc it has
I hope they can turn it around. I get covid impacted a lot of parks in 2020, but I just wish they posted online how many rides were closed like a lot of other parks.

You can say the same thing for everyplace. One of them is Gillians Pier they are adding rides to make up for 2019

That Loop O Plane was crazy it’s a favorite of mine at Keansburg
Those rides in general are quite forceful.
I live down the street from the boardwalk, and you have to go in the evening . Most, if not, all rides are open, and they have new staff
It did go through alot with superstore sandy. And it's usually booming during the summer.

I'm going to recommend either Seaside Heights New Jersey or else Point Pleasant Beach. That's Ocean County. Seaside Heights has more attractions, rides, and games but also more riffraff. Point Pleasant Beach is a quaint and well-groomed family town. And their Boardwalk is pretty good. If you want a better time next time. Check out Point Pleasant Beach.
I like Wildwood and Ocean City.
Fun Fact, I used to go to this park a lot when I was 5 or 6 and my grandparents lived in New Jersey. The water park is actually really good. The amusement park, not so much. The only real reason my grandparents took me here over great adventure was how close it was, even in 2015 and 2016 the park was much better.
It really seems like the dry side has gone downhill.
At least from last time I visited this park, about half of the rides were closed, the rides of note what were open were the kiddie coaster and the s&s drop tower, I know the Pinfari Looping star rarely operated, I only got a ride on it once. I think the water park could operate by itself but the dry park might be closed by 2030. Also, I do remember much of the carnival games and food open, in fact I remember spending around 15$ trying to win a goldfish, I won but I was pretty sure most of the goldfish in the back just wanted to be won, then they would die a month later.

I've ridden the travelling looping star here 50 or so times, but admittedly not in the last 10 years.. However, it's just not that bad, so either I had 50 freak experiences (!) lol, or maybe they get rough as they get older.. - OR, people are just too wimpy!
I even get airtime on the first drop in the back seat.. Honestly, it was perfectly smooth, and because it was the only looping coaster ever to exist in my state, I rode it every chance I could get. They are not that bad and worth a credit.
I still want to try one at some point.
The amusement park is great! Although the looping star gave me a headache from the banging and loops.I wouldn’t rate it as a bad park. It looks bad because people don’t visit it much.

I used to live near kingsburg I lived in belford when I was a kid and kingsburger music Park was great back then and last time I went there I was in my 30s and I still thought it was pretty good I don't know about now though but I would go visit it because it'll remind me when I was younger thanks for your video 👍😊

@@CanobieCoaster Yeah, the park needs some serious help. Also, Gillian's Wonderland Pier is about on the exact same track, only about half of all their rides are open and some stuff is actually gone.

Chaos is broke, i heard they are selling it. Only ran for 1 year and it is too expensive to fix. The other rides are all opening on memorial day. And they got rid of the rope (it was rope dangling) on the loop ride. It's not a bad park, i worked there for a couple of years. I go all the time. They just need to update some rides. Go on memorial day and see what how it really is.
I am willing to give them another shot if I can call the park the day of to confirm the rides I'm interested in are open.
@@CanobieCoaster thats a problem. You cant call them (it's weird i know) but you can check their facebook and message them on there. But all the rides except chaos will be open memorial day.

I like it but not as good as some other new jersey amuesment parks like moreys piers seaside heights or Playlands castaway cove Moreys piers is probably the best boardwalk park in New jersey heck In my opinion more fun then six flags great adventure

@@CanobieCoaster One thing I've seen different by the way is after the first half, they physically double check the restraints before the second half (It's an older one from 2000, so the Weigh button on the control panel needs to be pressed a second time, instead of an automatic dispatch).

Come on a weekend evening and see how many people come here and have a great time ...and remember we don't charge a small fortune for people to have a good time in keansburg so unlike seaside or point pleasant we don't make a fortune off our boardwalk and amusements ....!!!

What about chaos?
The property that the park sits on is worth much more then the amusement park so give them credit for not selling it and seeing condos built there instead! As to the Looping Star, a slightly better version site on the Pier in Ocean City Maryland. Keensburgh will ne dr be a Moreys Pier, but it’s raffish presentation is much like the defunct Bertrands Island or Williams Grove parks. And these places sadly are few and far between.
I'm not surprised the land would be worth more as condos.
The boardwalk is just a symbol of how dirty and gritty Keansburg is but don’t get me wrong it’s a great community but stuff does happen there it’s not the same anymore

okay i can get the review but man you went in the middle of a pandemic that's still going on their still understaffed even in 2021 go back when their isnt a global pandemic affecting everything a fair bit of their workers are from over seas because they pay for temp visas for students who want to study abroad.
I will give them a second chance if they have everything open. My biggest issue was the lack of notification on the website almost everything would be down. Other parks posted status updates if certain rides were closed.
I went there back in the 80's and let me tell you it's a lot bigger now, had small pool, racetrack didn't exist back then

Keansburg was the best when I was growing up. But I went there recently and it’s still just as bad as it was in your video. It’s really a huge shame.
Also, if you ever go back don’t believe them if they tell you all the rides are open just by word of mouth. When I went, that whole section of rides over by Chaos was completely turned off. We asked the person at the ticket booth if all the rides would be turned on at any point and she said “they’re all running” which was a lie. There was only 2 or 3 adult rides running. They will tell you literally anything to get money out of you.

You should be grateful because there was a hurricane OK and a lot of the rides were working and they try their hardest to help and do stuff and people are just getting fired and I don’t wanna work there anymore. Just be grateful what rides are open it’s very sad because there was a bad hurricane, and my parents were in it, and I almost died. They saved 99 year old man and after a few days later, he died and it was hurricane Sandy and it was a lot for those people but you should be really grateful it’s not bad now it’s 2023 you did this in like 2020 bud. But it looks better now the loopy stars open. It’s just the chaos is really broken but all the other rides are open but you should be really grateful for the rides are open they try their hardest don’t be mean be respectful.
I'm thankful the park survived covid. I just wish they were more transparent about rides that were available. I tried contacting them before my visit and in a later year with no success.

And don't forget the HEAD ON ONLY parking its a ticket of $50 and I saw so many cars with tickets the town its getting rich with this tickets and yes there is signs but I could never believe you pay for parking to park in a certain way on a open area parking lot it must be the Town parking lot I will never comeback to this place
