    Cate is my red carpet fashion idol-combining dramatic and ethereal. I do wish that more options for summer time dressing is available especially in humid weather.

    • @AbsintheReverie
      @AbsintheReverie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes I was about to comment this! I love her style but what am I supposed to wear for the other half of the year? It's way too hot in my city so I basically live in tank tops and shorts and don't know how to make it look stylish. Especially when summer clothes need to be light and breathable but Dramatics are supposed to wear heavy and sharp materials?!

    • @marah3298
      @marah3298 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point about summer options! I adore her style and her ethereal vibes… she knows how to work it! She’s one of a kind.

    • @marah3298
      @marah3298 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AbsintheReverie I don’t know much about D, maybe look at what she wears in the summer by googling. I wonder about tight bodycon dresses, in soft cottony materials. Tons of sharp lines there.

    • @marah3298
      @marah3298 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AbsintheReverie sharp can also be a cut, plenty of tops have cut-outs, “fashionable holes” cut into them, but that may not be everyone’s taste lol.

    • @rhiannon.de.rohan-thomas
      @rhiannon.de.rohan-thomas 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@AbsintheReverie I can imagine a narrow 90's shift/slip dress to the ankles with slits up the sides to the knee for movement, but in an ironed linen fabric for a stiffer, more structured vibe. Natural linen, or something like a linen-cotton blend, should be breathable, but can be quite structured. The downside is having to iron it.
      Also, maybe a breathable/natural fibre, long-sleeved button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled to the elbows and (if you're comfortable showing lots of leg) shorts that end around the same point as the shirt, visible ankles (no socks or straps), and letting the legs be their own long vertical line...? Or closely fitted shorts to just above the knee (what I prefer for myself).
      (These are just semi-educated guesses)
      🤔
      I'm pretty sure I'm SD overall, with sprinklings of classic features here & there, but a face that leans more dramatic, so I often wear more structure near my face. During the current Australian summer where I am (30-40°C / 86-104°F) I've been going out in cotton &/or linen-viscose button-up shirts/blouses & they've actually been cooler than most t-shirts & tanktops, plus they make me look crisper & less sloppy too. 🙂
      I'm pretty sure every body type can pull off a white button-up, it's just about the size & styling, so I think they're a good go-to if in doubt (just like plain turtlenecks in winter). 😅

  • @rachelhebert4136
    @rachelhebert4136 2 ปีที่แล้ว +69

    I agree with your comment regarding the accuracy in choosing an actress with a dramatic body type to play Katherine Hepburn. The way one's body moves via its natural unchangeable structure plays an essential role in how we perceive others. This somewhat intangible element is lost when a person with a different body type is cast as a recognizable historical figure. Gal Gadot (possible flamboyant natural) is slated to portray Hedy Lamarr (theatrical romantic) in an upcoming film. They have similar coloring, but I can't help but be disappointed by the fact that the essence won't be convincingly similar.

    Wow, Cate looked really pretty as a young woman with the darker hair (she's still a stunner, of course!). Weird thing: she reminded me of Angelina Jolie there (I always found FN wrong for her, too much drama in face and body). Yet, Cate has also ethereal qualities - something Kibbe doesn't really cover, sadly.

    • @kellie8468
      @kellie8468 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      That’s a great video suggestion. Reddit thinks she is SD and they’re probably right. Very narrow shoulders and super long limbs. It’s hard to tell if she’s SD or D bc she’s so thin.

    • @DRT813
      @DRT813 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@starminoui Thanks :) I think she might be D, because she doesn't look off to me in straighter, more sleek styles (e.g. her golden Met Gala dress, the white Queen's Gambit coat etc.) that don't offer curve accommodation. I think a SD wouldn't look their best in those. And to me her face and essence seems also more elfin, which imho would fit better with other Ds like Cate, Tilda Swinton or Keira Knightley, than seductive-diavesque SDs like Sophia Loren or Sofia Vergara. But of course someone else might have a different impression.

    • @angelacuria3357
      @angelacuria3357 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DRT813 Completely agree and think she's a dramatic, too. She's tall and narrow and has very elf-like features. She looks great in long vertical lines in only one color. There's a video of her being interviewed by vogue in which she is wearing a long, narrow black dress with no frills or detail. She looks amazing in it and I don't think any other type would be able to pull that off.

    Love the way you go directly to the point, but also include thorough, helpful information with plenty of pics! So fun to watch! I believe I am the Kibbe Soft Gamine, definitely. Have you heard of David Zyla? He does color palettes, but also silhouette, fabrics, prints, size, shape, artists that capture the colors and essence of each "archetype," suitable fragrances, and, most fascinatingly and eerily accurately, personalities in his book "Color Your Style"! I had a session with him, and I was a Tawny Spring, one of the many Spring "archetypes" he does. Keep up the best image content on TH-cam! I haven't seen anyone breaking down David Zyla's archetypes in a thorough or consistent way yet, but you certainly have Kibbe down! Interestingly, Zyla classed Cate Blanchett as a "Renaissance Summer," the summer that is closest to Autumn, very bold, but still a Summer, not quite an Autumn (which is the "sister season" of the Summer). What do you think?

    Aly, thank you so much for your videos, they are amazing! You are so unique, beautiful and intelligent. If I can suggest a theme for a new video - "Outfit for each body type". For example, you show us how to style every body type in elegant style and you put pictures of each piece of that outfit (jewelry, bag, shoes, hairstyle...) Love you! Greetings from Croatia

    Great analysis of a true style icon who knows what works for her. Could you also review Anya Taylor-Joy? She has such a unique face!

    I rather to categorize her as Ethereal I think dramatic is not as accurate for her.

      She is dramatic, not all dramatic will have dark coloring.

    Hey Aly, love your videos! I have a question though - do you type body types in Instagram - for free or for cash?

    Perhaps Katie Holmes would be interesting to see on a video similar to this.
    I wonder if you’d consider doing a video for what body types might wear in a casual way? I live in a small town and we don’t dress for the office or frequent meetings, but we do like to dress well enough - even if we have to stop on our way into town to put the neighbor’s cows back in their pasture. So maybe not dressed in our finest on a daily basis (you never know when mud will be an unplanned accessory 😉), but still presentable. Any guidance on put together casual looks. Thanks.
