Para mi, tú vs usted , es muy interesante y también es muy importante para estudiar. Muchas gracias profesor Rocky Rodriguez. 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅👍👍👍👍👍 ¡Oye Coach Rocky. Yo estoy estudiando español!
It's hariarchical vocabulary. To understand it you need to understand the history of the countries ( in this case Spain) who use it and how they spread it throughout the countries they conquered and why.
I am a native spanish speaker and i do not even know when to use "tu" o "usted". It depends on who you are talking to as well as the region. In some regions people use "tu" others "usted". Some countries even say "vos" which means "tu" as well. XD
¡Oye, Coach Rock! Veo su videos de baloncesto y tambien eres increible In Espanol. Estoy tratando aprender Espanol ahora. Este video me ayudo mucho. Buen trabajo, como siempre.👌🏾💪🏾
But here's my question (4 years later so not sure if I'll get an answer) If you use the usted form with people that you are more familiar with, would they find that weird? or potentially say something to you about that?

"Usted" it's a very archaic, hariarchical anachronistic word kind of like the word "thy" in English that is no longer used. I read it became short for "your mercy" or "your grace" .....Personally I never use it, if they get offended too bad..I live in the year 2023 not the 16th century. I don't dress like they did in the 16th century hence I don't speak like that either. Language evolves through era and other social constructs, if it didn't we would all be speaking in Aramaic, Latin and other founding dialects or languages ...Some people refuse to allow Spanish to be modernize to our era and our values and beliefs. Hariarchical vocabulary in countries which are not monarquies is ridiculous. But to each their own.
Etymology of the word "Usted" Usted is derived from "vusted", an archaic shortening of "Vuestra Merced", an old Spanish way of saying [lit.] "your mercy" (similar to the honorific "your grace"). 🤣 ok if you want to keep calling people "your mercy" go ahead. 😅
