So going back and relistening isn’t in every video but I promise to make it a mainstay after the next four champs. Thanks for your patience! Ornn is next.
I swear, what Marco gets from these songs not only indicates his knowledge and skill but also the incredible quality and commitment from the Riot music department.
Correct. A real master of an artform can crack a piece wide open and get a great idea of the intentions of the craftsman were when making it. Notice all the details and effort. But a masterful craftsman has to know how to present those ideas while engaging you. Give the audience something to enjoy while balancing the mystery and clarity of what they want to say. Truly wonderful.
Camille's got some killer in-game quotes. My personal favourite is "Patience is *a* virtue. It is *the* virtue." Also: "The luxury of mercy is one I cannot afford."
Her theme gives me a ton of Dishonored vibes to it. Lot's of string's, dark sounding cello's behind sharp violin's with such a Victorian flavor. Dark, cunning, and formidable.
Camille’s Theme is a better soundtrack for Dishonored than Dishonored’s soundtrack. If you analyze the setting is actually pretty similar. Piltover and Dunwall. Steampunk Industrial Cientific cities with diggings into magic, which honestly fits the theme. I used to run a DnD campaign on Ravnica (the MtG setting) and always ended the sessions with this theme, it resonates on political intrigue and dark schemes on a dusky steampunk atmosphere.
Also her thematic is all about precision. To quote her. “Precision is the only difference between a butcher and a surgeon” which harkens back to her operations as an assassin and hakim who surgically removed her heart.
After reading another comment about how Renata Glasc shares a bit of Camille's theme, and thinking about her quote (my favorite one from her) "The only difference between medicine and poison is the dosage"; I never noticed how many similarities these two share, that's very interesting!
Not gonna lie, I really like the last part, in which you listen to it again after you know the Lore. Like a 3 parter. First trying to guess the Lore, then you learn the Lore and finally with the knowledge listen to it again to explain it a little bit more in Detail.
Riots music team is scary good. Every champ has their own theme that is crazy good (as youve heard) but whats crazy to me is they do this JUST to help personify the character. These themes dont play in game, they sometimes show up in a cinematic but thats it. They make decently sized tracks of music just to make the character more "real"
I saw someone say they should play champion themes briefly when you pick that champ. The person even shortened and edited some themes as examples for what that could sound like
It's always impressive just how much you can gather about a character from their theme. All of your training and work has really given you impressive insight into compositional clues.
Love that you've added some specific explanations for how the music is telling you these narrative elements. They help give me depth and understanding to what I feel in the music naturally. So thank you!
Marco, I loved that you explained how you are gathering your inferences and delving deeper into the music! Made the video even more enjoyable to watch.
Man I really like these videos! Being able to pretty much pinpoint a characters past and lore from their music alone is something i can't even begin to comprehend. As someone who is pretty interested in the lore of League it is just so fascinating to her you describe such fine details from audio alone. Keep up the good work!
Can't thank you enough for all the hard work and dedication towards these videos. It's clear you enjoy making these and I eagerly await your next champion theme!
I love Camille, and her theme always makes me tear up for some reason. She's that kind of character that was of a good heart and idolised life but learnt the hard way that sometimes you have to employ not so morally right/correct methods to ensure the greater good. As Camille says herself "the world isn't black or white but a delicious shade of gray" Also her sass has no limits, the way she talks to other champions is the whole burn unit 😂
Now you gotta listen to Renata Glasc's theme. Really cool how it uses motifs from Camille's theme in the upper frequency range, the violin representing the higher class, aristocratic Piltover, and the low frequency, grittier sounds underneath representing Zaun. The music literally represents the dichotomy of the region.
That's my new favorite video of yours. The detailed breakdown, the reading the lore and relistening to the song, THE ACCURACY. I'm not tired on saying that you're one of a kind. Thank you for this Marco!
Always enjoy your videos! I like this added format at the end, where you try and piece together the lore with the music in its parts. Would be nice to see that in future videos!
OMG your ability to surmise her past from the harpsichord is just amazing. It is on point. Her lore is full of tragedy and something worth reading. Music really is an interesting conduit for emotion and it's astounding u can decode it
The fact that you can pull so much information from the music alone and get so accurate is really impressive. I love League, despite all the bad stuff you hear about it I think it's really a great game and the lore around it is just so unique and every character is different. It's really impressive, I look forward to seeing more League stuff from you :)
Camille being my favorite champion in LoL and her theme being one of the best in my opinion (with Ornn and Swain ones), I am really happy with your spot on analysis. And it's even better when you listen the music again after reading the lore. It allows to understand so much thing in the music by doing so. As a french Camille enjoyer, thank you for your work, sir. Truely impressive !
This character has always shared the same space in my memory as Legend of Korra's Lin Beifong. Jeremy Zuckerman did some magical stuff with music for Avatar and Korra. The trailer for Book 2 of Korra uses the song, "Before". A nice taste of his work.
You are always so close with your guesses! I recommend to you: Gangplank, Ekko, Diana, Vi and Jinx. These are the ones I'm thinking of right now. Good Luck, have fun!
I really loved you going back to the theme after learning the champions lore in attempt to confirm past thoughts and make new ones. Please continue to do this in future champion theme reacions.
This is the best video of this series so far. I love how you went back and listened again. Id love to see you do that more often. Also, again, suggesting Diana.
i love how you relistend to it and were able to give more insight into the meaning fo the different elemts of the song, hope you do it next time as well :)
You're dissection of these themes is insane. I'd love to hear the analysis on a champ like Kayn who can take two forms in the game (Shadow Assassin or Rhaast/Darkin(demon)). Obviously that means it's two songs for one champ, but the analysis from you I'm sure would show two great contrasts from either form Kayn can take.
It's so interesting to see you get these champion's lore/backstory just based on music alone. The power of the music department! Hope you react to Seraphine's theme some day!
I also love how much a lot of the League themes encapsulate the physicality of the characters. Like how the kind of swinging ups-and-downs of this piece conjure the trapeze-artist-spider-lady-swinging-on-cables and there's just that little bit of synthetic instrumentation to suggest her augmented, cyborg status even through all the classical, aristocratic instruments.
Again, one of my favourite champion themes along with Akali's one and Aphelios' . The last part is very cool because we can look at a different reaction and analysis of it. I'd really like watching you speak about Akali's theme even if it's not the same feeling as Camille's theme. The lore of the characters can be very different and their themes can be very distinctive of their native country in the world of League of Legends. Camille is from Piltover, and her theme explains a lot about Piltover to me : rich, noble, ruthless and a sort of Victorian vibe to it enhancing its elegance. Themes like Aphelios or Pantheon ones are more mystical because both of them come from a region where you can find plenty of magical and mystical stuff : the Targon Mount. Akali's theme is the same to me, it perfectly evokes Ionia's style. Again, Riot Games musical staff is just awesome.
You proved to me that being able to understand music makes it more colourful then otherwise. I never knew you could see those small things that way and actually listen to them in real time. When you made those notes about the violin it suddenly started sounding more colourful to me.
Watching you videos made me realize game music is more then "just some sick beats to mash buttons to", I completly ignored the possibility music can convey very complex messages as well. Something I ignored even when listening to music where the song I would listen to was my main focus. Seeing you react and give an explanation on a song opened a new dimension I could look for when hearing a song
Hi! TH-cam suggested this video to me and I've blazed through this whole playlist! I love LOL, know nothing about music and I'm deeply fascinated by people who do and who are able to basically *read* and interpret a musical piece. I'm going to skim through the rest of your channel because I'm curious to see what your other content is, good job! If I may drop some suggestions for future champs too: Braum is a theme I love, as is Taliyah. Looking forward to ornn, another great champion theme!
When Riot introduced character themes years back, I was very excited. They always came with login screens, and they tried a lot of different media content creation with that. When they ditched the login screens, I was very sad and thought they might remove character themes, but was very happy to see they continued on making them. It has been a journey watching them world build over long long years. Camille is one of my favs, lorewise and musicwise, and I am very happy to see this video. Loving the 3rd part, relistening the song ♥ Glad you'll move on with it! Looking forward to more. I enjoy learning more about music and how they convey stories and emotions in your videos.
It had been some time since I abandoned the game (and I don't intend to go back), but still, their marketing is really intense. I love her theme, it's one of my favourites from LoL music, even if I didn't listened to it for a long time. I love your analysis and how you payed attention to such details! I will only add my feelings about this piece, that this melody is very "swirly". I always see in my mind how she uses her hooks and do spins (like her Q you saw in 5:55 ) to cut down her opponents. Little bit like in Awaken.
yesss couldnt wait. Great vid and really nice predictions. Camille has really nicely written short stories that convey those topics mentioned in the bio really well. Sadly the bio itself doesnt bring the weight it should to eg. her decision to augment herself compleatly. But damn does the music do its justice in this regard
If you end up doing Ornn’s theme, there is a teaser for him that is a song in the Freljordian language that is very cool (no pun intended). A lot like Volibear’s trailer.
I think that ruthlessness you talk about it is very true about camille and i feel that that main violin theme not only conveys that and strength as you said but it also conveys precision as it is one of her main themes, no long drawn out notes, each note like a strike of her blades
I would like to hear what you think about Rek'Sai login screen music. This character migh not have much lore, but the vibe/feeling that you can get from her music and splash-art alone might give some interesting thoughts
Yooo, connecting the harpsichord to her hextech heart? Genius. I've heard this theme so many times (it's among my favourite league themes) but I never connected that.
I want to ask if am i the only one who vibes out and gestures as well , together with Marco to the pieces he listens. Just a very pleasant mutual shared experience of music with another person.
Hey, Marco! I've always been passionate about videogame music so I'm in love with your content. Dude, you need to listen to the guilty gear ost in those "guessing who's character" videos, especially the character themes from strive cause they all have lyrics (not just instrumental, I mean). If you give it a chance, I recommend Let me carve your way (zato's theme), Find your one way (sol), Love the subhuman self (millia), Play the hero (Chipp), Armor-clad faith (potemkim) or, especially my favorite, The town inside me (bridget). love from brazil! 💚
It's always amazing to see your accuracy. It made me listen back to some old league music. And there are some I find that doesn't feel like I would expect for those champions, you should try Xayah or Syndra if you want some hard mode. :)
I appreciate you going "that's not telling me much" and just leaving the character preview video xD Not every game focuses on the character narratively in the preview like Genshin does League has a lot of really good music, it's a shame I've never really been able to get into it because of the game the tracks are attached to though. Not one for competitive games myself. Any time I hear some of the tracks that are pretty good from a video they almost always end up on the playlist, though! Day 5 of begging Marco to listen to a PSO2 boss theme (personal preference is the story version of Sodam, but there's a lot of good options) No 3-day streak for me, I fell asleep because I was too tired from work yesterday... Darn.
If you have yet to do it, I would LOVE to see you cover Vex’s theme. Very nice and ambient. But another one that is good is Nihla too! Love the content!
It was fascinating hearing you reach that, "I have no idea how these themes come together into a backstory," and then learning the details the name and art didn't communicate within her backstory.
Camille's theme is in the Phrygian mode for a good portion. In video game music, Phrygian mode is often used to represent a desert-like exotic sound or a threatening mood, like in FFVII's battle music. I believe it's the second one here.
So going back and relistening isn’t in every video but I promise to make it a mainstay after the next four champs. Thanks for your patience!
Ornn is next.
Yes! Finally, Ornn’s theme is one of my favourites
I may be a Kled simp.
But Ornn is right at the top of the top
As an Ornn main, I actually freaked out slightly at the casual mention of his theme next. Consider me waiting with bated breath :D
After you do ornn i’d like to suggest you do jinx’s theme, she was the first one to get their own unique song
bard would be cool as next after ornn
I swear, what Marco gets from these songs not only indicates his knowledge and skill but also the incredible quality and commitment from the Riot music department.
For real 😊
small indie studio makes great stories and music, it has to survive of something after all
ye their work is on another level than the dev team for sure
Truly wonderful.
or he just reads the lore beforehand and just doesn't tell us lol
Camille's personality can be summed up into one sentence that she says in the game: "There's my way, then there's the wrong way."
"There are two sides to every problem. My side and the wrong side." Also, "Precision is the difference between a butcher and a surgeon."
Camille's got some killer in-game quotes. My personal favourite is "Patience is *a* virtue. It is *the* virtue."
Also: "The luxury of mercy is one I cannot afford."
She captures imperialistic elitism quite well. And earns it.
Part of Camille's theme can also be found in another champion's them, Renata Glasc
Listening to Renata's theme again, damn it's so good. I've been sleeping on this.
I noticed it too. Makes me think Camille did something to Renata
@@Bariom_dome ??? Go to her interactions and to go find out
Her theme gives me a ton of Dishonored vibes to it. Lot's of string's, dark sounding cello's behind sharp violin's with such a Victorian flavor. Dark, cunning, and formidable.
YES, it feels very much like when Corvo going up the Dunwall Tower
Camille’s Theme is a better soundtrack for Dishonored than Dishonored’s soundtrack.
If you analyze the setting is actually pretty similar. Piltover and Dunwall. Steampunk Industrial Cientific cities with diggings into magic, which honestly fits the theme.
I used to run a DnD campaign on Ravnica (the MtG setting) and always ended the sessions with this theme, it resonates on political intrigue and dark schemes on a dusky steampunk atmosphere.
Please put Aurelion Sol’s theme in your list, it’s one of the most epic champion themes imo.
Yeah, pls
Very spacesize
Yeach pla
Especially now he is doing re-listens. A Sol's theme really benefits from knowing the lore in my opinion
Boop
Also her thematic is all about precision. To quote her. “Precision is the only difference between a butcher and a surgeon” which harkens back to her operations as an assassin and hakim who surgically removed her heart.

@@Congele_ it seems like they're two sides of the same coin, one placed in piltover and the other in zaun
Not gonna lie, I really like the last part, in which you listen to it again after you know the Lore. Like a 3 parter. First trying to guess the Lore, then you learn the Lore and finally with the knowledge listen to it again to explain it a little bit more in Detail.
Ill move forward this way!

Then there's yorick whos theme is on the whole time when the lady is alive
Please do Kayle and Morgana, they're few of the rare champions who share a theme and it'a simply divine.
LOL! The intended pun had me, I lost
Xayah and Rakan too! I love the vocals in their theme a lot
I love you going back and relistening the song after knowing the lore! I hope you could do Azir or Warwick's theme next time sometime.
That won’t happen in everyone of the new videos for this series but it’s definitely my plan moving forward
@@MarcoMeatball (okay but pleeeease consider doing Warwick's theme! He's a fan favorite with surprising depth!)
Ooh, I really like the new idea of going back to re-listen after you've read their stories! Really good idea, Marco!
"The world is not black or white, but a delicious shade of grey."
It's always impressive just how much you can gather about a character from their theme. All of your training and work has really given you impressive insight into compositional clues.
When you get around to covering Ornn, I would advise to listen to both the lycrical and the instrumental version. Both hit very diffrently.
I did for that and will when it uploads :)
Love that you've added some specific explanations for how the music is telling you these narrative elements. They help give me depth and understanding to what I feel in the music naturally. So thank you!

Camille is one of my favorite champion themes, absolutely top 10, I'm so happy you did this one
It always gives me goosebumps when he nails it so accurately
I like the idea of listening to the theme again with more context, it enables us to notice details we might have missed!
Will do it again in about five themes 😂
ugh the league of legends themes are so good,i wish they did a concert for all them so far. they need a stage
Maybe some kind of anniversary event like how undertale did their 5th anniversary. Would be dope
@@xArt_16 ikr ima manifest that, and maybe itll happen
They did one awhile back maybe you could try searching for League of legends concert
As Camille says herself "the world isn't black or white but a delicious shade of gray"
Also her sass has no limits, the way she talks to other champions is the whole burn unit 😂
I LOVE the fact that you went back to listen to the song and reanalyzed it. Please, more of this!!
Please do Taliyah's theme. It gives me chills every time.
Oh I love the upgrade on the format of going back to the music theme after reading the bio! That'll definitely improve future videos!
Hey, thank you for the wonderful video. I look forward to seeing Ornns theme! His and his brother Volibear's themes are so awesome.
Always enjoy your videos! I like this added format at the end, where you try and piece together the lore with the music in its parts. Would be nice to see that in future videos!
Haven't played League in a while, but their Music is *always* on point. I'm looking forward to hearing your analyses on more of these!
Two notes of the song play and Marco goes, "Okay lemme tell you their life story" lol
OMG your ability to surmise her past from the harpsichord is just amazing. It is on point. Her lore is full of tragedy and something worth reading. Music really is an interesting conduit for emotion and it's astounding u can decode it

I love how you are explaining what you hear in the music and going back to it at the end is a good idea!
This won’t be here for the next several league champs but it will be an addition after that!
Renata glasc, Nilah and Akshan's theme are also great! listening to these themes are like experiencing different culture
You are always so close with your guesses! I recommend to you: Gangplank, Ekko, Diana, Vi and Jinx. These are the ones I'm thinking of right now. Good Luck, have fun!
I also highly recommend Irelia's theme so good
Diana's theme from league is very operatic and actually has lyrics, you should listen if you haven't already.
I like this one because of how much you elabourated on the emotional baggage of the instrumental or composition choices
I really loved you going back to the theme after learning the champions lore in attempt to confirm past thoughts and make new ones. Please continue to do this in future champion theme reacions.
In about six themes I will - those are pre-recorded :)
This is the best video of this series so far. I love how you went back and listened again. Id love to see you do that more often.
Also, again, suggesting Diana.
Absolutely love the more technical explanations, great job !
The extra explanations are great!
would definitely love to see more of them.
i love how you relistend to it and were able to give more insight into the meaning fo the different elemts of the song, hope you do it next time as well :)
It’s a new format but it won’t be in the next few videos as they are previously filmed!

Please listen to Nunu and Willump's theme, it's fantastic in every way :)

You should do Samira, one of the best champion themes! I can imagine what you can figure out.
got recommended this as a league fan as and i love this! i would absolutely see more. kindred and jhin are some of the best ones
Both here already :)
MOOOOORRREEE!! When you have the time , of course. Really enjoying the series! :)
good pick! camille's theme is one of the best ones out there
I'd love to see your music theory applied to champions with less classical themes like Aatrox or Warwick.

I appreciate you going "that's not telling me much" and just leaving the character preview video xD Not every game focuses on the character narratively in the preview like Genshin does
League has a lot of really good music, it's a shame I've never really been able to get into it because of the game the tracks are attached to though. Not one for competitive games myself. Any time I hear some of the tracks that are pretty good from a video they almost always end up on the playlist, though!
Day 5 of begging Marco to listen to a PSO2 boss theme (personal preference is the story version of Sodam, but there's a lot of good options)
No 3-day streak for me, I fell asleep because I was too tired from work yesterday... Darn.
great stuff, loving these league videos. my recommendations would be warwick's theme or evelynn's theme
I cant wait to see Marcos Reaction to Yoricks Theme, its always been my Favorite.
this was one of the best champion themes they ever did, it's amazing. I'd love to see him do Evelynn's theme next, that one gives me chills.
the most iconic line from camille probably is "precision is what seperates a butcher from a surgeon"
So, you've done Jhin, Kindred and now Camille. My top 3 champion themes are down and I can only thank you for it 🥰🥰
also, thank you for including subtitles :D
Camille's theme is in the Phrygian mode for a good portion. In video game music, Phrygian mode is often used to represent a desert-like exotic sound or a threatening mood, like in FFVII's battle music. I believe it's the second one here.
I suggest Rell, a forgotten champion, but her theme is still one of the best. Irelia is also pretty good
