Very important lesson on technique Rusty..........gonna practice this very hard its something I haven't paid much attention to.........big thanks Paul from Ireland

How can we lose? Also, love that Strat burst............I've never been a huge fan of the standard Strat burst (love several custom solid color finishes however) but yours absolutely stands out mighty purdy!! lol Jim C.
Thanks a lot, Jim! And I am having a blast doing the videos cause I love them tunes! It is a unique Stratocaster. It’s a good one. I always appreciate your commentary!!! Thanks buddy👍
My big problem with palm muting is the harmonics from the palm despite cementing my palm to the bridge. It is a simple technique but massively effective! Another pro tip for starting late, sub to Rusty's channel so you maximize your learning sessions. Great video as always, thank you!
WOW!!! Thank you so much for this video!!! I have been struggling with control as a newbie. Nothing I have done has worked. I will have to re-evaluate my hand positioning after watching you. I have always wondered how people controlled the noise from the overall motion of picking. You have just answered all those questions.
If you work on this, you will level up your playing in no time. Things that you used to struggle with for just come right out of the Guitar. Glad you got something from the lesson and let’s talk soon. Thanks.✌️

Thank you, Rusty. Just subscribed. Your method of teaching is practical and an engaging style and allows me to connect some dots of my rather confused guitar learning methods. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺.
You’re welcome Ron! Many beginner, intermediate player struggle with us! Just always be conscious of it and continue to work on it every day. Thanks a lot for checking out the lesson video. Thanks ✌️
Sir, I followed your teaching regularly. Is it possible to sort out everything systematically. So, anyone can get it serially. Thank you, you are really a great teacher.
Basically, most people learn some chords first. Then connect some scales to those chords. This is where my videos come in. For the intermediate player to start making music with those chords and scales. For me, I pick lesson videos that inspire me to learn and have fun. I really appreciate you following my lessons! Keep working at it, buddy.👍
Rusty your lessons have really helped me. I'm in my late 60's and I'm still a long time beginner! But you have really helped me progress in my playing. Thanks for all you do for us. I'm especially appreciative of your worship series! By the way, what model is your strat?
Thanks so much, James! I’m always happy to help! I bought that Stratocaster used. So I’m not sure the model. It is American made. But I love that Guitar. 🎸 Catch you later.👍
When first pick up and plug in an electric . I did nt consciously mute strings , however it would happen. Mostly I would keep guitar volume very low . I would only put enough amp volume to keep it safe . The world already has Ted and Jimmy .
I started in my 50s , cause in the younger years drugs and music went together, then I gave my life to the Lord and lost music. BUT God is FAITHFUL and started directing me back. Well one day I got my guitar and picked it up and I heard " WILL YOU PUT THAT DOWN AND HANG OUT WITH ME ❓️" Now I live by myself and I looked around, I knew that the Lord was talking to me but I was looking to see if He meant someone else 😂. Then He said " I CAN GIVE YOU WAY MORE BACK TO YOU THAN YOU GIVE ME ❗️" About a half hour! I heard " THANKS FOR HANGING OUT WITH ME ❗️" I just wept thinking that the KING OF THE UNIVERSE just thanked me.
news flash dude you never stop learning guitar and given there are also over 30,000 chords as well that no one will ever learn them all makes sence you wont stop learning but on the other wise of the darkness we get out what we put in..
@@rustysguitar1 You are very welcome. I appreciate your teaching videos. I’m just a bit slow-got mild dyslexia and autism. They make learning challenging but I have a good ear 👂🏽⭐️ and do very well with just listening but that doesn’t always work. That’s when I need music 🎼 or tabs.
Controlling the sound is a big thing … to get the nuances and dynamics right , same thing as you sing … you don’t go 100% throughout a song .. or if you talk … in expression/communication, which is music , everything has to have a human quality … so to give a solo a life like feel … let your guitar sing … ring out what you have to ring out ….
I started I my mid 40s after a lifetime of playing piano/keys. Loving learning guitar...and loving buying them ;) Rusty, can you comment on your amp setup? Or are you going through a modeling box? Also, great lessons. I'm really getting a lot from them.
I’m glad you’re getting something from the lessons! I’m using the Revv G 20 amp set clean and driving it with the J Rocket Audio Archer pedal. Also some reverb from the Strymon and big sky. Thanks and see you soon.🤛
Well, first I’m using the Revv G 20 amp set clean and driving it with the Revv tilt overdrive pedal. Also, I’m using some reverb from the Strymon big sky. Thanks a lot for checking out the video.👍
Rusty. Do you have any thoughts on pick control? I have been a finger picker for many years. But when it comes to pick control I feel like a total moron past 90 bpm.
I would suggest dig into some alternate picking. Down up down up. That will help you get used to the movement and play clean with the pick. Thanks and have a great weekend.👍
Is it normal for that blues shuffle stretch to feel so hard? Playing it sitting down is Ok but standing up - even with my guitar up high - just kills my hand and wrist.
Just try and practice it a little every day. You will build up some strength. It still hurts my wrist. Also if I play it for a while. Thanks a lot for checking out the video.👍
Many many times😂 But with technology the way it is, I can create the sounds and put them into my headphones. Thanks so much for checking out the video JL! Good to hear from you and enjoy your weekend.❤️
Hey Steve, most of my lessons are intermediate. But here are some more beginner rhythm and soloing lessons. My advice would be to learn the fretboard and learn to connect chords and scales together. See you soon Steve 🤛
I couldn't get any better on guitar after 30 year's so I tried the bass at 55 years old and I love it and feel I'm a much better bass player than guitar player.

I really appreciate that Jason! Thank you for the kind comment. Right on brother! Good to hear from you, buddy.👍
All great tunes . I can't learn by watching . I have to be doing. I watch and listen to stuff on TH-cam lot of interesting stuff. Over my head.
That's actually cool
Thanks for checking out the video! Enjoy your Sunday🙏
great lesson, thanks
I’m happy to hear that Drew! And you’re very welcome👍
Thanks.✌️
Dude , Awesome Rusty , Excellent lesson Man !!!
Thank you, my brother Daniel! Have a rockin weekend👍
Good stuff Rusty 👍
Thanks a lot, Adam! Enjoy your weekend👍
Great lesson. It’s been very helpful to me, I appreciate it
Thanks Terry!!! I’m glad that the lesson was helpful! Talk to you soon👍
Another amasing lesson. I started in my 60's. Now I' m near the 70's. I struggle a bit with the strumming hand. Maybe you have some exercices for that. Greetings from Germany. Love your lessons, they bring me really foreward
Greetings from Chicago! Good to see you here. Here are a couple rhythm videos for you to maybe check out. th-cam.com/video/rA_YbQKbjVA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=KOUShJz1JPdrkUv0 and. th-cam.com/video/Sz6USbbtzhI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=CHkEgJthmpQKdjDZ one more th-cam.com/video/szSfInD8t4E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cnVEJ3VS6Rq0EAPP. Thanks so much for all your support. 👍
In all honesty I was shown the 12 bar blues maybe 20 years ago and that really opened it all up for me.
Sounds good, Tony! Keep rockin! Thanks for checking out the video🤛
Thank you, Rusty. Just subscribed. Your method of teaching is practical and an engaging style and allows me to connect some dots of my rather confused guitar learning methods. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺.
You’re welcome and thanks for watching👍
Thanks Rusty, unfortunately un wanted guitar noise has always been my nemesis but I'm working on it 😊
You’re welcome Ron! Many beginner, intermediate player struggle with us! Just always be conscious of it and continue to work on it every day. Thanks a lot for checking out the lesson video. Thanks ✌️
Perfectly relatable title made me click. When we had the same shirt on, I had to watch. Great video
We must be long, lost, brothers! And we love playing the guitar!!!🎸 Thanks for checking in mate. Cheers 👍
Love these vids.thanks for sharing.i need it :)
You’re welcome! Thank you TS!!! 🤛
Great video Rusty!
Bert
I appreciate that, Bert! Thanks, buddy✌️
Great lesson .Thank-you Rusty 😊
You’re welcome, Alan! Always good to hear from you👍
Rusty your lessons have really helped me.
Started at 62 and have Dupytryns contracture on my fretting pinky so limits me A LOT. But LOVE playing.
So your only as old as you chose to be ❤
Sorry to hear about that! But I’m glad that you still love to play! Thanks for watching ✌️
Thanks share video happy day
Thanks for watching! Much appreciated👍
When first pick up and plug in an electric . I did nt consciously mute strings , however it would happen. Mostly I would keep guitar volume very low . I would only put enough amp volume to keep it safe . The world already has Ted and Jimmy .
Thanks for watching! Later ✌️
Thanks Rusty, you're an inspiration to this old man, awesome lesson. where can I get your swag. Bless you sir !
You’re welcome! I appreciate your kind comment! See you soon👍
That’s an awesome story my brother! God is faithful! I’m glad you have the gift of music. Thanks for checking out the video and have a great weekend.👍
Me too, I'm 57, I now love Jesus, and guitar 🎸
That’s awesome God shows his love through amazement ❤
news flash dude you never stop learning guitar and given there are also over 30,000 chords as well that no one will ever learn them all makes sence you wont stop learning but on the other wise of the darkness we get out what we put in..
Wow
That’s very helpful. Could you put up more of the chord notations or tabs for the chords and any note picking? Thanks, 👍☮️🎸🎵🩵
Thanks a lot for the feedback! And I appreciate you checking out my videos. Thanks again.👍
All important techniques! Thanks for checking out the lesson video! Rock on John ✌️ record
I realize You can not show it all because I learned the ZZ top tune a bit ago . I did pick up a few new things also thanks
I’m glad you got some thing from the video Tony! Have a great weekend, my brother👍
Hey Rusty I really enjoy your channel and learning how to play the guitar. Can you please tell me what pedals you are using to get that great sound?
Well, first I’m using the Revv G 20 amp set clean and driving it with the Revv tilt overdrive pedal. Also, I’m using some reverb from the Strymon big sky. Thanks a lot for checking out the video.👍
@@rustysguitar1 Thanks
Nice l'il Buidl up
Thanks for checking out the video👍
I appreciate your lessons,do you have any books or DVD on the lesson I. Think it was moving the flat scale up down the neck?
Thank you for your interest, but I just have the TH-cam lessons for now. Thanks a lot for your support to my channel Michael. Let’s talk soon.👍
🐻🎸🎼🎶
Thanks a lot for watching👍
Thanks
Troy Grady has some stuff I have been using for daily exercise but is kind of clunky.
I've been sharing your videos with my friends.
God Bless
@@robertcassell782 Troy Grady has some of the best videos about picking for sure. Thanks so much for sharing my videos Robert. I appreciate it.👍
Is it normal for that blues shuffle stretch to feel so hard? Playing it sitting down is Ok but standing up - even with my guitar up high - just kills my hand and wrist.
Just try and practice it a little every day. You will build up some strength. It still hurts my wrist. Also if I play it for a while. Thanks a lot for checking out the video.👍
How many times a day do you hear a voice yelling ‘ rusty turn it down? ‘
Many many times😂 But with technology the way it is, I can create the sounds and put them into my headphones. Thanks so much for checking out the video JL! Good to hear from you and enjoy your weekend.❤️
Hey, where young enough to care but old enough to not care what they say it turned around on the kids❤
or 40
Or 50 years😂
I'm new to this site where do l begin
Hey Steve, most of my lessons are intermediate. But here are some more beginner rhythm and soloing lessons. My advice would be to learn the fretboard and learn to connect chords and scales together. See you soon Steve 🤛
YES sand last lol
Right on! Thanks for checking out the video👍
I couldn't get any better on guitar after 30 year's so I tried the bass at 55 years old and I love it and feel I'm a much better bass player than guitar player.
But I know that you missed that Guitar brother! Thanks for checking out the video. Catch you later.👍
My last teacher said I might be better off playing with my feet. I'm not much better at playing now then when I was 14, Blue Cheer just released their 1st album at the time.
It can’t be all that bad bro😟 Let’s keep working on it, my brother👍
@@rustysguitar1 He needs to FIRE his last teacher! I guess he already did? HA!
