It means that the water in a river never competes for the first place, but for the continuous flow of the river. Just like in life, you don't need to compete for the first place in everything, but keep moving forward to improve yourself, even if it's slower, it doesn't matter!

Hello, can you let me know what the weather is like, in Nanjing, in late February time?
I’ll be heading there, but if it’s freezing temperatures and/or snowing, I’ll reconsider the dates for like in late March.
Just an FYI I am from Uk, so, we do experience quite cold temperatures.
